AK5, Rule of the idiots

Call me Joe :)

As for building up(judging from the screenie), I'll get Hamburg and Leipzig building archers (after Hamburg finishes the spear). I can get Berlin switched to barracks (it wont have the pop to support that settler anyway), and Konig/Frankfurt will be busy through my turns building their barracks. I would like to switch Frankfurt to a worker if there are no objections. We need more workers in our empire, and that city seems like the logical choice. That worker can start spreading water into our core cities.

Also viper, you're sure that there's no iron anywhere on our island? :eek:
I thought that for a second but I realized we don't have iron working (no visible iron.)

Work the trades. pay a premium for IW if we have to. IF we can locate iron and get it connected we have an advantage on Monte and Pachuti (bless you). Would rather have escorted settlers at this point than rax. No objection to more workers.

This will be the first thing I look at when I play tomorrow.

Ok Joe. ;)

We definately need some iron, then we can :hammer: them Mesoamericans into submission so we have a strong base, and a strong economy to trade with others.

Who is up? I just don't want to be skipped again. :)

Turn 1
-- Inca tells us to get the heck out. I say Ok.
-- I can get Iron Working from the Inca for 170 Gold. I tell him hell yeah!!, but please accept 160 gold instead. He gives me a really puzzled look, then agrees just to get me the hell out of the room. We've got 2 visible spots of iron. One by the eastern cow, and the other in our southern moutains. Both will take a while to connect. I decide to allow the settler to continue heading east toward the cow and tobacco. The next settler will head to the southern iron and get that hooked up.
-- I change Frankfurt to worker .. due in 8 timed perfectly with growth.

Turn 2
- Leipzig Archer -> Archer in 5.

Turn 3

Turn 4

Turn 5
-- Hamburg Spear -> Spear in 10
-- Sending Hamburg warrior to Leipzig for guard duty.
-- Settler in Berlin due to get done 2 turns before growth. Switch to barracks due in 1. This way, we can build vet escorts in between settlers.

Turn 6
-- Berlin Barracks -> Archer in 4. I'd like to get Berlin grow a bit more before spitting out another settler.

Turn 7
-- Leipzig Archer -> Archer in 5
-- Incas are building TOA

Turn 8
-- Montezuma wants 24 gold. I double checked the rules and I see we have no rules against accepting threats. In our current state, I dont want a war, so I accept.
-- Just as an FYI, we can get Alphabet from Aztecs for 3GPT and all of our gold. That is probably worth it so we can get more contacts. We're isolated and it's killing us. However, I'll let the next person decide.

Turn 9
-- Frankfurt Worker -> Barracks in 20.

Turn 10
-- Barb hits Kon but our defending warrior defends flawlessly.
-- Berlin Archer -> Settler in 5 (growth in 4). I MM'd Berlin so growth and settler production occur in 5 turns.
-- Our people love us so much they offer to add on to our palace. I figure a nice green lawn in front of our cave would look wonderful.
-- Inca are building the Oracle.
-- Inca builds the Colossus
-- Frankfurt worker starts task of getting water to our empire.
-- Munich founded between cow and tobacco on eastern coast. Growth in 7, worker in 10.
-- Our scouting warrior sees a barbarian on top of a strange 4 legged creature. Since he couldnt identify it, he beat the crap out of it. Lost 1 HP.

Some choices that need to be made:

1. Which iron do we go after 1st? Eastern one would keep the Inca's from getting their hands on it, but the southern one could probably be hooked up sooner. Eastern one is also close to 2 incense sources.

2. Do we make a deal for Alphabet so we can get some curraghs and more contacts?

Ok, here's a screenie of our current situation. I circled the iron sources, and put blue dots where I think the next cities should be. On our eastern border, after that blue dot gets settled, we could plop a town on top of that iron hill.

Like the dot 3 SW of Munich. Would rather we hooked up the western iron first since we don't have competition for that one. Suggest a city W of the western iron. Can squeeze another city 4 NW of the western iron to keep up the contiguous borders. This placement allows both to become fishing villages someday since they're not gonna do much else in mountains and desert. Strongly suggest we get the west iron hooked up asap and then worry about the rest. Then again, you know what they say about idiot opinions...

@ hey joe - nice set :)

BTW - Berlin should skim a boat or 2 when feasible.

Roster Check:
viper - doin' whatever vipers do in pear trees
allin1joe - just found iron
F51 - on the clock
AK - doin' whatever idiots do with net access and too much time...

1. It's 4 SW of Munich.
2. I put the dot on the western border where it is so when it expands, it encompasses the iron. It sucks in terms of placement, but it was the best I could come up with on short notice :) What we could do is put a city 2 spots NW from the current dot on the coastal hill (4 away from Berlin). Put the 2nd city 1 spot NW of the iron. That would keep our borders up while ensuring that iron source is within our borders. Again, that 2nd city won't amount to much, but it's better then the AI sneaking in later.

So I is on the clock. :) Got it.

I'll take any discussion before I play, as I must play later.

Idiots can't count. :)
I put the dot on the western border where it is so when it expands, it encompasses the iron.
And why would borders expand for barbaric idiots who build no culture? ;)

That terrain S of berlin is the map generator's way of making a joke. ;) There, we should do an ICS for troop support. Also, we should start cxxcxxc (basically a tighter build) because we can't generate culture.

Ok, I won't be able to play CIV3 until the weekend, :( damn massive homework before the break. So, I'll be needing either a skip or a swap.

I'll take it. Let us know when you're ready. Homework sucks (and is generally meaningless after college)

Please refrain from being an idiot during homework.

Nice set, joe. I guess I like loose spacing because we'll never get culture, and I wanted to claim land fast.

@AK: Nice avatar!

@viper: :lol: I can't help being an idiot! ;)

@AK: will be ready friday night-saturday morn. I also am about to X-post with viper, but nice avatar. :D Just noticed.

Thanks guys

Preflight, no changes.

975 stop roading the gold at Frankfurt due to barb horse.

900 Frankfurt is sacked by barb horse (my idiot move for the set)

Settler pair at western should build in place. Dots indicate potential future sites. Other settler pair should move one SW and build. Borders will connect without gap. Irrigate back to Berlin and get the pump running. Hamburg needs a garrison of 10 military to prevent flips. Send a few more archers there. GET THE IRON HOOKED UP! We need to do pointy stick soon.
