All leader portraits

Considering their Ottoman-tweet, I'd assume C5 is some Ottoman leader.

It is definitely possible that the tweet was, as you say, hinting at the inclusion of the Ottomans, but not necessarily of Mehmed II. So if someone wants to find an image match, perhaps the best bet is to look through pictures of all of the Ottoman rulers.

I drew the mock-up not to function as a matching image, but rather to show people what I was seeing; as lots of people still believe the dark bit is a pointy hat, I see a turban.

This is becoming a big Rorschach test

Yes, I'm afraid they don't match either.

I can't even find a point of reference to compare both photos, they are simply too different. (Full armour instead of Cuirass, reflections, lack of gold colour on the left of the chest).

I can confirm that's not the photo we are looking for.
There's so many of kings in that king on dressing and position...

should we try making a pastebin with all leaders that were painted with it?

To me, C5 is wearing a mongol hat. The turban people are saying is just the picture's background (a cloud, the moon, whatever). I don't mind Ottomans not being included in vanilla, I feel like the Mongols are more likely to be picked above them.

This forum is called Civ Fanatics for a reason after all.

We could try... if we follow a strict selection criteria:

1. Alphabetical order. From Spain to Sumeria (Spb... - Sul...)

2. Leader dressed in a cuirass, 1600-1700 era.

Honestly, none come to mind.

i didn't read all the discussion, but please don't tell that B3 is Henry the IV.
It's definitely, without no doubt possible, Catherine Medicis... On his old time.

Do we get any more possibilities if Sumer was Ur/Uruk instead? Doubtful but... straws...

OP is updated, please refer to it :)

Could this painting of Philip II match better?

Not really DarhStarkiller:

Knowing he was king of portugal and spain he could be a different spain.

During Philipp II Reign Spain controlled Portugal, Naples, Milan, Sicily and The Netherlands in Europe. Many, many overseas territories too.

The "the empire on which the sun never sets," was first used refering to Spain under Philips II reign.

Conquistadors and Religion mate, that's all we are getting from either Isabella or Philip.

I see that C5 blur as a side portrait of someone with a helmet, a bit like in this image:
Spoiler :

As of E1:
I think it is NOT Philip II

The bending and position of the arm to the body, the white collar and the big bright colored vertical stripe (band) does not match with any of the paintings of Philip I find...

Also, I think while the figure is turning his body to right (as we see it), his face may be turning to the opposite direction, to the left...
