The map's from 1920 so most Indians would be part of glorious Christiandom. I think Amerindian is used because it's a politically-neutral term, to distinguish between the "brown" Indians and the "red" Indians, not as a euphemism. It's the height of the Red Scare so using "Red" would be inappropriate.

Why?
It's just an experiment of mine - a mix of my interests in science-fiction spiced with a bit of fantasy. It's very incomplete, so when I have some time to spare and when I am in the mood, I add more details. So far I focused on the eastern seaboard only.

It became an obsession at some point. I often waste a whole day finishing a map. I also came up with a history for each country, flags and lists of rulers, among other things. Over time different variations developed as well, either because I couldn't get the landmasses to "look right", or I want to do something specific with a certain country. One day when I was really depressed I just threw the whole lot into the bin. I'll probably start on another one when I have time, but this time I'll start afresh.

I only obsess about something for a very short time, then my interest shifts to something else. Eventually I get back to the first thing, but it usually takes weeks or months. It pretty sucks when you're trying to do something useful though.TheLastOne36

Well in that case... Im going to be petty and immature and say this.

My culture is soooooo Central European, I want independence." to such a high standard when in actual fact, they are stupid, arbitary and just plain waste of time. And then after getting your so called right to do whatever you want, you all declare that you are all the same and try to be one country again. And then, you bicker with each other and call the Irish douches because they didnt sign stupid treaty and plan to expel them."
Europeans are high maintenance and rather silly...

No, i Didn't say that, I have a Philosophy of telling apart different asians. If they have a long face with more roundish eyes, than they are Japanese, if they have a smaller rounder head than they are Chinese, if they are in between and a little chubby than they are Korean.
Viet's look distinctly different as do other SE Asians.
I thank my grade-school's from Toronto and being in class with a ton of Asians for that.

Something about that map grates me geologically. I can't really put my finger on it, possibly it is the mountain pattern, but something about it leaps out at me and shouts fake.

I tried to make it as geologically plausible as my meager knowledge allowed me, but I was never quite satisfied with it. If you could tell me exactly what is wrong with it, I'd be grateful.Perhaps an unshaded map would help...?

It's a tough cookie to crack, Slovenia culturally is Central European, but Croatia? I'm not sure, they are basically Catholic Serbs... There one of the countries that fit in two catagories, like Lithuania or Greece.

I think it is two aspects: first is the sudden change. The map to begin with (from the bottom and upwards) has some nice smooth lines. These are consistent with the kind of lines you would expect from continental drift, as most maintain chains are. Then you suddenly enter an area where mountains and highlands seem to be thrown in randomly without thought about where they fit in.
Secondly it is the valleys to west in the map. Valleys can broadly be defined by two types: river valleys and glacial valleys. Those on the map do not appear to fit into either. This is because there are no apparent drainage basins in that map. Drainage basins are areas where rainfall flows in a specific direction. Rivers and glaciers tend to more or less follow these patterns. Simply throwing them in doesn't really make for good maps.
