I'm looking at you Kraznaya. ;)

There are Hispanics of Asian descent. Not a ton, but they're out there!

Non-hispanic Asians? What are they Filipino's?

I'm getting more and more confused by this term "hispanic".

Generally, Hispanic = someone who speaks Spanish, and is from or has a family background from South America, Central America, or the Caribbean.

Spanish people can self identify as Hispanic as well , but in the U.S. they'd probably identify as "Spanish from Spain" or Spanish-American, and as white (I think?) on a census.

Interestingly, a person born in Spain can be Hispanic, but cannot be Latino, at least in American English.

I am confused by this term Hispanic. I have more white blood than mixed blood, I was born white and have always been white. Here in Venezuela i'm a gringo.

BUt in America, I am hispanic. How does that work out? Heck my spanish isn't that great.

I am confused by this term Hispanic.

Same here. I always thought Hispanic was a spaniard or a person of Spanish descent living in the New World (Mexico).

I thought Hispanic meant from Hispania - IE Castillans, Portuguese, Catalonians, Galicians, Basque.

I thought that Spanish was the proper term for anyone descendant from those mentioned above , (Excluding portuguese) living in the new world. This because the colonization happened when Castille formed Spain.

Than I thought Latin/Latino referred to - Spanish, descendant from those named above excluding Portuguese, those descendant from Portuguese, French and other colonization, as well as Italian immigrants and others.

I'm still trying to figure out how an Asian can be a Hispanic. Is that even possible? America's terribly race conscious, I can't tell people what I am in a word... maybe I should invent one.

I nominate Winnervia as a place to put all the Asian Hispanics.
