Of course such a ban is also totally unenforceable in a consistent and fair manner, so if this law is applied at all it will probably be used to persecute random people who were unlucky enough to be seen (for example by vengeful neighbours, spiteful ex-husbands and ex-wives, etc.).

In other words, such a ban is hypocritical, counter-productive and most of all totally unnecessary. It's much better to give young people proper lessons in parenting than to just tell them they can't spank their kids (so they grow up into selfish hyper-confident little brats).

i don't support any physical punishment at all

spanking or striking your kid WILL NOT make him learn his lesson. in fact you will make him angrier and angrier until he outright rebels. and the parents would force more punishment and all hell breaks loose

i was in that situation. and i must say, i made a rather effective rebel.

I disagree. Proper use of physical punishment can be very effective. Of course it won't solve all your problems, nor will removing it fix everything. I seriously doubt anyone can trace "rebellion" back specifically to corporal punishment as a child, unless it was taken to an extreme.

I am strongly against any form of corporal punishment anywhere. Violence never leads to something positive.

Nice to see the Czech republic still is living in a kafkaesque nightmare :D

varwnos, do you remember that one girl in Saudi Arabia who assaulted a teacher?

She got 90 lashes w/ a cane (or was it whip?) + jailtime

...

Do you really think that she's going to do that again?

there is no proper use of cororal punishment, its either bad or it isnt.

...besides id really not rather deal with a rebel if i have a family.

And surely nothing other than corporal punishment causes that. And it is impossible for corporal punishment to be used and have a person be good.

That is just stupid. Anyone should be able to see the distinction of slapping a kid on the wrist or spanking him and beating the crap out of him with a paddle.
Besides, proper use means more than just hitting a kid. It means know when to do so and when other measures should be taken and how to properly punish a child (using any means).

you shouldn't ever hit a kid. have you ever heard of grounding someone or taking away a privilege? that works just fine. unless of course the kid rebels. what is the point of punishment if it wont work?

Hey guys. I don't mean to butt in on your fun, buuuut, I made this thread on corporal punishment so you would all stop derailing this thread by getting off-topic.

Thank you. ;)

Edit: 2000 posts! Whoopee!

There's been 60 billion threads on corporal punishment. I don't see why we should open another duplicate...

Anyway, here is a map of the amount of consumption of beer per capita in liters per year by région:

More evidence that Poland is in Northern Africa.

Not exactly, we are simply growing under the recession (Although just barely) because Poland is such a wonderful country for investments. :D

I thought Venezuela was collapsing?

Venezuela is supposedly annual growth is not to far from China (compared to the world's average growth I mean), so I am a bit surprised that Chavez's policies have really messed up things. :crazyeye:
