Amirsan3- Diety Newb Attempt- Join!!!!

I'm still not a confident warmonger, but this is looking good :).

i will not have time to play until friday evening and i do not want to delay the game. go ahead and skip me this round. great turn amirsan!!!!:goodjob:

Takeo@
Friday is still within the 24 GOT IT/48 POST IT. I don't mind waiting. It's up to Amirsan though.

Nice job amirsan. I'd either go for the Mongols or the Babylons, but as was mentioned, before we even think about the Babs, we're going to need a WM.

It looks like we're getting close to setting off our GA too. I also think that China set off their GA already as everyone warred the Mongols and they're in monarchy, but I wouldn't go off a guess.

Anyhow, I'm getting ancy on my turn, looks like I might be crrushing some AI skulls.

Edit: I also suggest we rush a couple of these temples to buy time from flipping. The mongols isn't a horrible idea, it nets us spices and if we can manage the capital; a nice place to hold some troops for the invasion of China.

Btw, are we going for domination here?

Edit II: We're farther back than you can imagine in tech. Korea has democracy and everyone else is in republic except the Zulu who are in a monarchy and, of course, the Mongols who are in despotism.

I would think it would be best to be go for space eventually. Me no likes war. Give peace a chance, d00d :smoke: .

lurker's comment:
No, Space Race is not impossible only very time-consuming. You need to slow down the AI, wars are required to that end. I do agree that it would be nice to have an option where you really could win this level with not warring at all. Maybe an idea for new SG?

Tsukemono5@ you're going to have to learn to like war on Diety. I think that the game is nearly impossible to win without some war. The AI have double production speed and research. The only way to slow them down is to get them to focus their resources on something besides winning. World Wars are the typical method to slow them down as they usually result in stalemates.

For us, I think we need to focus on Domination right now. We're very far back in tech and need to be doing point stick research. We're not scientific so we can use a sling shot technique with a free tech. We still have a few things going for us. One is that we haven't had our GA. Two, we are beelining to Cavalry and have a (small) chance of getting there ahead of the AI. If not ahead, then we have the advantage of knowing how to use the terrain etc. Three, we're making almost all military. (Note, we need some marketplaces ASAP to pay for the unit costs.)

An ideal situation would be to claim the Mongol territory and all the mongol settler/slaves, getting a leader in the process that could be used for a FP in the Mongol territory.

Nothing but short, oscillating wars though until we get enough of an army.

Once we knock the AI back a little, then we can reevaluate if we want to pick a different victory attempt.

had a few minutes to download the save and look around. was able to trade republic to the mongols for their WM(preturn).

looks like we could attack babylon to the east. none of these cities are connected to iron and would have only spearman. we could try to make it to the mountains, make a stand and wait for peace.

i wouldn't want to go all the way up to the mongols, capture their cities and be surrounded by massive culture, have no way to connect by road and no way to get quick reinforcements there. should we just attack next-door-neighbor cities that will join culturally to our existing borders?

i won't be able to get to my turns until tonight, so any comments to guide my reign will be appreciated.

Great job getting the WM. I definitely think Babylon is 1st or second and Mongols are after them. Only civ is might put above them is Japan, just to grab that one city they have. If they pull Babylon in against us then we will have reduced war happiness and attitude hit from being the victim. If not, we want to make a push for the chokepoint and preferably the mountains. It would take a lot of units to defend the mountains but if we could get a few spears/pikes up there, they would be hard to dislodge. Is that a 1tile choke point or 2? I can't tell without gridlines on.

I doubt we have the time or the production...but:
what if we packed 2 or three galleys with spears/pikes (I can't remember if we have feudalism.) and sent them to the coastal tile outside of Umma. Once war is declared it takes two turns to unload them at the chokepoint. This would cut off reinforcements from their core and let our horses staged on land take the four cities on the pennisula, relatively unhindered.

Once our GA is triggered, what are should we do with it?

Should we stop warring and build infrastructure or build lots of elephants? If we want to trigger and then stop, I say Japan is a good choice since we can trigger it and take their only city near us, then settle for peace quickly. If we trigger it against Babylon, we may be stuck in a fight a bit longer to make the gains we want.

Other question:
What do you guys think about catapults? I've been reading a lot of diety games where catapults basically pulled the game out of the fire. Check out the Nationalistic Mao game. (it's an awesome read.) I never build them, but think I should.

BTW, we should start our infastructure now becuase more of these horseys are just going to wast our shields sinse we wont be able to upgade them all, (they cost alot, like 60-80g for one :( ). We should start infastructure now and build more elephants with our GA while we save some upgrade money to attack the Chinese for thier GL, if we wait too long then we wont get it becuease they will probably be defending it with Riflemen.

We should set our campaign staright to the capitol without attacking anything else. Use all our effort on the capitol for the GL. If we want after we can attack for territory.

I'm up, I don't have it yet (no access here) but I will get it tonight and play it tomorrow following the post.

I do, however, thiink that Babylons are the way to go and if we do trigger our GA, it will be soley for infrascture to prepare for the Chineese.

I'll probably grab that Japaneese city while I'm at it (provided I feel it's safe enough).

Guys, I'm going away for a week, so skip me until July 6.
