Ancient Mediterranean Civs - Greek Epic (by Numitor and ambrox62)

Yeah, we still need help with DoM texts. Until now we use place holder texts. ;)

I want to help over the holidays. What should i do?

Also I like Pasiphae, overall your your style is exellent :D

Thank you for offering help, Manifold. We really appreciate it. :)

What we are searching for, are flavourish texts for each leader. About the texts quantity: our Agamamnon DoM text was ... hm ... around 200 words, I think. We need something along these lines for Perikles and Leonidas and for Primaos + Pasiphae.

Also shorter, but nicely fitting text ideas or (famos?) quotes for these DoM texts are very welcome.

And finally any idea about special greeting texts (what these leaders say, if you meet him/her).
We always feel we need such new texts, becouse its not so nice to talk with ... for example ... Alexanders copy again and again, you see? ;)

So if you want to do anything of these, we will include it. :)

Some suggestions for greetings texts:

Athens
"I am Pericles, leader of Athens. Does your civilization wish to join the Delian League?"
"Greetings! I am Pericles of Athens. Remember that just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you."
"I, Pericles, greet you. We Atheneans believe that freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it."

Sparta
"I am Leonidas of Sparta. Deal fair with me and my people and I will spare you the sting of my powerful blade."
"Leonidas greets you, stranger. Stay on my good side as my people are skilled in the art of war."
"Behold! I am Leonidas; approach with care, for when the wrath of Sparta is aroused, we cannot be defeated."

Troy
"I am Primaos of Troy. I desire peace with all my neighbours - even your puny culture."
"Stand there, stranger! The Trojans are not to be trifled with. I, Primaos, demand that you give account of yourself and your land."
"Welcome to Troy, stranger. Behold our mighty walls and powerful army and recognise the futility of becoming our enemy."

Minoa
"The gods be praised! In their ineffable wisdom, they have pre-ordained this meeting. I am Pasiphae, and I greet you in the name of Minoa!"
"Hail! I, Pasiphae, stand before you! I look forward to a strong trade partnership with your people."
""I am Pasiphae, Queen of the Minoa. The richness of my court is matched only by the embarrassment of your poverty."

i think that athenians should be friendly but no so loyal.on the other hand i think sparta must be harder to make friends but more loyal to them.i will try to make a dawn of man for sparta but dont except it for me because(i can help with info in some things because i am greek and i know a lot of my nation's history) i dont have much time and it will be my first try.

Thats great! Thank you Rob, I think some text will move straigt in. Thank you PAVLOS too - every little piece is very welcome. Show us the friendly Perikles. :king:

I made Priamo's texts tonight, now we can choose to put some of Rob's texts in as well. Lets see, what ambrox chose. :) I think it could be a good idea, to put my full Priamos texts here to give an example. I took expressions and phrases out of the Iliad and formed them a bit. I tought Illiad texts works pretty well for Priamos and all Civs involved in Troian War. So you will see, what we are searching for too: famous or (well) known expressions and phrases connected to the Leaders.

Probably I used bad grammar and there will be some mistakes as well. Feel free to point them out. ;)

Spoiler :
Greetings

1 Greetings Stranger. I am Priamos, descendant of Dardanus, King of horse-taming Trojans, whom all respect and honour.

2 May the Gods bless you, Strager. I am Priamos, Son of Laomedon, King of horse-taming Trojans. Let us swear an oath of peace, a binding one: we will live in fertile Troy, you in your own far away lands.

3 Hear me, I am Priamos, Son of Laomedon, King of horse-taming Trojans. Zeus and other immortal gods know what we do, may our friendship delight them.

Defats

1 Father Zeus, ruling from Mount Ida, mighty, all-powerful, why, oh why you let me be killed and send down to Hades’ house?

2 Hear me, war-loving King. I am returning now to windy Troy. I have no wish to see with my own eyes my dear son die. Zeus and other immortal gods chosed badly which of us is fated to end up dead.

DoM Text for Priamos

Praises upon You, oh mythical and great Priamos, Son of Laomedon, King of horse-taming Trojans, whom all respect and honour. Your well-known palace behind the famous Gates may let you rule over all Your lovely Cities all situated in windy Troas and in fertile Dardana as well. Descendant of Dardanus, Your sagacious Leadership may make your people - traders, horse breeders, warriors and peasants - stand against all Your enimies. Most powerful, mighty Zeus, and others, immortal gods, may make sure your land will growth, and they promise Your people will love you, as long your rule is sagacious. But they never forget to remind You: they could make Trojans and Danaans hate you, too. Son of Laomedon, great lord! the leading officers among horse-taming Trojans are calling you to come to fertile Troy to administer their binding orders.
Are your mighty troups going to fight it out with their long spears over the goal you want? Or will all swear an oath of friendship, a binding one - you will live in fertile Troy, where horses breed - and your neighbours live peacefull in her own lands? But come, mighty Priamos, let all follow what You propose - build up your fertile lands, train dauntless riders and a mighty fleet.

Oh rightguided king, the road lies there in front of you. Will all the the Trojans and Danaans resist your enemies? Will they live and build and fight to Your goal? For the gods are with you. Can you build a civilisation that will stand the test of time?

So, I cant do research for text during the next days, so there is no danger of doublettes. And pls don't forget, if something turns out bad or wrong with finished Leaders, there easily can be an update together with Lydians and Thracians (coming next year). Don't be afraid ;)

The latter two of the Athenean statements are direct quotes attributed to Pericles. They're only there as suggestions; I'm sure that as you've already got others that are more suitable for Troy, those suggestions I made might suit another civ in the future.

here is what i made for Sparta.it is about 263 words

Haire, great warrior Leonidas, you come from the Agiadon dynasty and your ancestor Hercules is proud of you. You are the ruler of the honored Greek city state Sparta known all around the world for its fearless hoplites! Your beatiful city stands strong in the shouth Peloponisus as the example of the perfect order and patriotism. Your state is the millitary center of

the earth and your kids are trained to fight after the age of seven so they will be one day the best troops of the world. Your great army is feared even by the elites of every nation and they hide even when they hear your name. You never built walls as the courage of your soldiers are your walls. May the gods give blessings to your troops and as long they fight with honor Ares the god of war will be next to them. Stay strong and you will give Sparta its rightful position next to the immortals. Leonidas you are the one who united the Greeks in the battle of Thermopylae where you died heroicaly for honor, as the spartan law states: come back to your home victorius with your shield on your hand or come on it dead. Your name will be remembered by every generation as the great leader who gave neverlasting glory to his people.

Now form up your ranks ,every Spartan civilian is ready to take up the hoplon and the dory and die for Greece and Sparta and it is up to you to lead these heroes to victory.
Charge for glory and honor!!
