AND2 and SVN Bug Reports - A New Dawn 2 ONLY

SVN 658, Noble, Huge, Epic, PerfectWorld2, Revolutions enabled.

I've had a scout parked outside Delhi for at least 10 turns, waiting to see if the AI sends out a settler it's got in there doing nothing, along with a stack of warriors, but it hasn't. I would have attached a screenshot but I couldn't work out how to take one, so I've attached a savegame.

To take a screenshot press Print Screen on your keyboard. It gets saved in My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Screenshots folder.

Also if Delhi is still at Chiefdom Civic and it already has 3 cities it won't send the settler till it finds it favorable to got to the next best Civic in that line. It's a limitation on early expansion that I personally disagree with, but is in the Mod because Afforess put it there and 45* likes it.

It never asked for a Re-Calculation, no =/

So to clear the cache you just hold down Shift when it's on the loading screen immediately after selecting Launch/Start-Game?

When the box for the Mod appears (and you see things like xml cached, etc. scroll thru it) that is the time.

Which reminds me I still need to finish a game without ever leaving Chiefdom.
I've played a regular Civ game without ever leaving Paganism, accepting a religion, and razing any cities that have Monastaries/Temples/Cathedrals in them and it was quite limiting when it came to happiness XD But fun!

Ha, I played a AND game without leaving Tribalism until the Renaissance Era unintentionally. I usually swap to Slavery ASAP and stick with that until either Caste System or Emancipation anger proves to be too much, but I really dislike how Slavery's implemented in AND so I rarely swap to it anymore.

Some things I noticed after upgrading to v659 (and then reapplying my first round of changes).

First: I'm STILL seeing this Python error when starting a new game. Does anyone else that has Python logging turned on see this?

View attachment 359452

Secondly, I don't think you want the light-bulb icon for Go to City. I appreciate the ability (although I've never used it, I can see how it becomes vital with viewports on), but I wouldn't use that icon.

View attachment 359453

Also, early-game turn times seem to be slower than what I'm used to. I was playing on Continents map/Noble difficulty/Standard size/Standard speed and I was seeing "Waiting for other civilizations..." flash three times between my turns. Maybe I'm just not used to playing at all. I haven't played any serious games lately because I've been working on some new stuff.

Two more things I noticed.

First, archer bombardment is not being displayed properly in the messages.

I was dealing with a stack of Warriors and I had a couple of Archers.

View attachment 359456

I bombard the Warrior stack and the message at the top of the screen displays that the Warrior took 0% damage, but one of the Warriors dropped from 2 strength to 1.6 strength. So the Warrior took damage but the message didn't report it correctly.

Second, workers are displaying XP. I don't think we have anything in-game for them to use the XP on, so we should either not be including it or at least not displaying it.

Some of the newer stuff in C2C allows workers to get Promotions to work different terrains faster. So they do gather XP for that.

The warrior taking damage fro archer bombard and wrong display was also recently addressed in C2C.

@ Vokarya - The Python error is most likely, you have the wrong path in your CivAltRt.py file.

That sends the mod looking for the various add on's.

Also if your using a non English operating system, for example French, it won't read the paths correctly, and you'll need to use the CivAltRt.py file to correctly path it.

Don't forget to copy this to the Assets/Python folder as well.

On worker experience, I've noticed that as well, I assumed it was something from C2C that wasn't implemented.

Making another run at testing Huge-Noble games.
Playing as Montezuma on a Hub mapscript, and hit Medieval at Turn 443 (71 AD) by researching Engineering. Is that the only tech that advanced to the Medieval Era?

As far as I know I was the first to get there.
My research was slowed just a bit by a very early war (I like early wars. ^^) and the war I'm currently in now, however.

Hi, I just got this error. Is it from the game or it's from my computer? I am running on lowest possible settings so... I am playing on Noble/Large/Earth2/Epic

Something I've noticed in the two Huge games I've played... The AI seems a bit, um... How to put it... A bit suicidal with Missionary units, sending them out unescorted along the borders or even through the borders of nations they're at war with.

This was particularly noticeable here where the Turks sent five Jewish missionaries directly at my huge army headed his way.
Immediately after I killed them, three more headed right past my stacks. Killed those, and then a turn later... This

He again sent more missionaries straight at my army, walking past them. I don't know what he's trying to do here, if he's honestly trying to spread his religion while under attack, or if he's trying to distract my army and get them to attack unescorted units in an attempt to rally his forces while I do so. It was amusing to see though, and I've noticed this with workers from time to time as well.

You ran out of Ram.

How much ram on your computer and how much ram on your video card?

Are you running other programs in the background (on taskbar, etc.)?

How many AI did you set up? How far are you into the game?

Need details please.

Maybe you should use the Viewport option in the BUG screen and start with a 40x40 setting.

They only had one city at the time, and kept that settler on ice for a fair while longer. They've made up for it since, though!

This being a Noble-Huge-Epic game, I'll try and look out for the advent of the Medieval era. However, I'm way off the pace myself so I'll have to look out for the leading AI civs. Engineering and Feudal are the techs to watch for, right?

I'm aware of this. Sometimes it happens and I don't know why. I wonder if the same happens in C2C; but suddenly starting at a certain point (I still have to understand which point), AI start spawning settlers and quickly expand its empire.

Strange, I have no python errors and you're the first reporting them; I'll have a look but are you sure you installed from scratch and cleared your cache before starting a game? I also suggest you start a game before applying your changes to see if you still get that error and then try again adding your changes.

About the light-bulb: you're right; I've used what was there because I don't know how to make different icons. If you can help on this matter, you're more than welcome because I also don't like that icon.

About speed: there was some revisions ago which were surely faster but also had a lot of bugs. I believe the latest revision is slower but I prefer a slower but stable game to a faster but unstable one. ;)

Archer bombardment has always been buggy since I remember, and that's a reason why I never use it; but I'll have to look at this problem because it's clearly a bug.
Workers are displaying xp as a result from importing code from c2c; you're right, since we don't use it it shouldn't be displayed but I'll have to look at the code to understand how to hide it; for the moment, just ignore it.

I have 1792 MB RAM (512 MB on video card.)

I close all programs before using mods like C2C and AND.

Standard amount of AIs, Late Renaissance (already researched Science Method).

Final results are in from my Huge-Noble Hub test.
Bismark reached Astronomy at turn 592, about 8 - 12 turns before I would have. Brennus was running around with Bombards and stuff and had just researched Metallurgy, but he didn't have Astronomy.

Thank you Rezca, very useful indeed. I'll have to ask all of you on the forum for more test games in the next months, but I'll explain later how we're going to test the game, after we've added Vokarya's changes. Thank you again. :)
