AND2 and SVN Bug Reports - A New Dawn 2 ONLY

It has been some time since I raised this issue that they were no longer gaining experience as they assist in winning battles. May go back to update 792.

The Great Commander concept I believe was introduced with AND. It has been an important part of my strategy, especially getting through the early stages of the game. I sacrifice assigning my new generals to cities as Great Military Instructors, building military Academy or Warlords in favor of the Great Commander to better serve my military capabilities.

It is hard for me to comprehend why more AND2 players are not beating the drum to get this fixed. I can't be the only one interested in or use the feature.

I can't quite tell, are you saying that Field Commanders are not gaining XP? I don't recall an original report, you should have linked to it.

I've tried your save and you're right. To tell the truth, I'm not sure how GG work; does it get xp even when fighting barbarians (your rebels are barbarians, from what I see); also I've seen a change by Afforess where he has increased max XP limit from 25 to 100, which doesn't explain how you can have a GG with 115xp nor why your other GG doesn't gain more xp. I'll have to run some test in my current game.

Original post was on 8/31. Save no longer available but Great Commanders sitll not accumulating XP. Unfamiliar with term "Field Commander". Civilpedia under A New Dawn refers to Great Commander option and that is what I am talking about. A General assigned to a particular unit is a Warlord Commander (as far as I know)

I can create a new Save if necessary.

SVN 821

On the F1 Fix, you can't select multiple cities for builds, it will only take the build queue in the 1st city.

Example Select 5 cities making wealth, change them to a queue of a Trade Caravan and then wealth, only 1 city will now make the trade caravan the other don't even change.

If you select Caravan only, only 1 will change, you have to go through the individual 4 others to build the caravan.

Select them all to build a new building just enabled, and only 1 at a time.

Yes I am aware. Viewports breaks this and I spent a few hours trying to fix this, but there didn't seem to be a way to support the multiselect correctly. This falls into the "can't fix" category.

I'm not using view points, any way, further infomation.

If the cities aren't sequencially linked, such as cycling through cities link sequence, they will break the "multiple selection build"

i.e. 3 cities are in sequence in city cycle, but the 4th and 5th are not, the 1st 3 will build the selection, a Caravan, but 4 and 5 if not sequencially linked, will have to be selected individually.

It has worked previously, version 817 I think, or before that, only recently broken.

Thanks for your support and efforts anyway, just trying to provide as much info as I can.

Please do create a save. I ran a quick test with barbarians and I received XP for my GG.

in the save, Korea and Mongol have 0 cities, but they are still alive.

Confirm you didn't enable Require Complete Kill Game Option in Custom Game.

After causing so much huh bub about the issue, during a set up Save example, I find that these Commanders do gain experience but not every time. This leaves me with the conclusion that I just don't know the operating rules surrounding the routine.

Sorry

No worries, Field Commanders are not necessarily explained clearly. They have 5 control points (you may gain more with later promotions) and so their effects only work for 5 battles, each battle removes 1 control point. Clicking a Field Commander will show their available control points. They won't gain any XP after their control points are exhausted. Control points are reset next turn.

Maybe you would like to check out my Field Commanders. I have 4 on the southeast hand corner continent. They're back to not accruing experience again. I have tried to figure out what is happening but it is beyond me.

On another subject, my "Bug" settings continue to be erratic in holding when I return to the game after restarting my computer. I do start the game as "Administrator"

I had a go at your save, the 1st time, the Great Commander didn't gain experience. I then went next turn and it crashed.

I reloaded from last auto save (1) and now the Great Commander IS gaining experience, but only with 5 control points, from the city and not on next tile where units attack from.

Only thing I could thing of is a corrupted load.

It then proceeded to crash again, when I gained advanced economics, same as before??

Thanks for confirming I'm not nuts.

Looks to me this was an issue with game options we had some revisions ago. Which rev did you start the game with? I suppose you changed revision during your game?

Game started under 788 and has been upgraded periodically through 821. First start seeing problems around 792.

Then I'm almost sure that was the problem. It won't happen in new games.
