Ank06 - 3CC Conquest

ok the peace deal with Abu and then had to face extortion demands form Hannibal, first for iron, then for furs.

Took advantage of the respite to build libraries in the cities but they had no impact on our research efforts.

Dragged Abe and Monte to the negotiating table and sold them both something but they refused to give on any knowledge. Nationalism might be good to have for the 6 defense riflemen and the drafting As Monte is now in the IA we might be able to buy it from him for Steam once he learns it and we learn Steam. Kept the workers buildng fortresses out toward the Arabs.

Abe is down to pop3 Albequerque and Hanibal is pretty shrunk as well. Only Monte seems to be holding his own against the Arab juggernaut.

Would the extortion or purchase of Democracy from somebody and a then a revolution help any, at least as far as out research goes. We can buy Democracy for everything we have in the Treasury from Abe, which might help him to survive a little longer. We still need that flimsy bulwark to the west...

Well done, Bede. :)

Sorry; I haven't played it yet, and I can't play it now. RL is really starting to kick in big time. Over the last two weeks I've been planning a last second move to Alaska, and that has got me scrambling to get things done. I thought I'd have a break today to play, but it doesn't look like it. I thought I was going to have a couple hours free today, but it just didn't happen.

I'm going to have to opt out of this SG for good. :cry: My days between now and when I leave are going to be packed with packing and other errands. I leave on the 5th, driving up to Fairbanks hopefully arriving on the 9th, and staying with a friend and her family for the summer. Unfortunately it sounds like I will not have room for my computer. Knew I should have gone with the laptop :(

I enjoyed playing with you guys, and I'll check in when and if I have internet access. But I don't think I'll be able to play anymore.

Gah. No time to play today, I thouhgt I would have, but I went to a shop... sorry.

I am away from the 1st to the 4th of July.

Ankka, if you haven't left yet, you might want to consider advertising for another player or two. Pin is officially out (BTW - sorry to see you go Pin) Yoshi might be MIA (hopefully not. Please prove me wrong there Yoshi) We could use the players since it is starting to be the Bede and Bugsy show. (That's two games that are starting to play like that.) :rolleyes:

For everyone's information: I advertised for more players. Has anyone seen Yoshi on CFC recently? Has anyone heard anything from Yoshi anywhere?

I'm going to pick up the game and play some of it during lunch. => Got it.

Pre-flight – 1750 AD – Only 200 turns left in this game. Abe won’t trade with us. So I talk to our Ambassador in Albuquerque and he says a rush job steal will cost 1065G. Go for it I say, and the man walks into the American science institute and walks out with the secrets of Nationalism. What brave people we have!

The Arabs are Communist. That’s good news for their tech pace. Bad news for stealing.

Upgrade three muskets to rifles and start cycling our front line troops back for the new equipment.

IBT – Arabia and Carthage sign a peace treaty.
Entremont: cav=>cav

1. 1752 AD – In a move I should have done last turn, Sell Nationalism to Monty for Democracy, gems, wines, WM & 35G.
Spend 140G upgrading 7 muskets. Revolt

IBT – Barbs overrun one of our outposts to the east.

2. 1754 AD – Democracy. Upgrade 4 more muskets. We have one musket left out on our horse colony. He’ll stay put.
3. 1756 AD – All rifles redeployed on the western front. Start collecting money for another steal. With the next steal we can probably start brokering for more than one tech.
4. 1758 AD - :sleep:
IBT – Alesia: rifle=>cav
Lug: rifle=>rifle
5. 1760 AD – Building forts with our uber-workers.
IBT – Entremont: cav=>cannon
6. 1762 – Monty lost a city.
IBT – We lose our supply of gems. Monty just lost another city. Alesia riots because the ladies lost their diamonds.
7. 1764 AD – We actually lost our wine supply too. No wonder the people were so unhappy. Monty lost two cities that turn.
IBT – Abu wants to swap TMs. No thanks.
Entremont: cannon=>cannon
8. 1766 AD – Finish consolidating the front. Start moving workers into position to start our strategic rail net.
9. 1768 AD – Nada.
IBT – An Arab infantryman approaches Albuquerque and Abe sues for peace.
Steam comes in. Start lone scientist research on Industrialization.
Entremont: cannon=>cannon
10. 1770 AD – We have coal two NW of Lugdunum, but it isn’t hooked up. Lugdunum can be an Iron Works city.

After Action: No one has anything we can steal except for Abu. He’s going to be tough to steal from with his veteran commie spies, although he doesn’t have Espionage yet. We probably need to make safe steals.

If GK doesn't pick it up tonight I'll check back and play tomorrow.

Don't what's going on with GK. He's MIA in Go4 also.

Got it.....

In 1780 the Arabs declare on the Cathaginians. This is the beginning of the end for Carhtage.

In 1784 Abe plants Portland between us and Arabia.

Steal electricity from Carthage in 1784.

In 1790 Arabs and Aztecs sign a Peace Treaty. the Aztecs are down to one little ville on the former German peninsula.

In 1794 Abe and Hannibal sign an MPP and Abe goes to war with Abu. ABu promptly capture Protalnd and now has a forward base for his operations against us.

In 1796 Albuuquerque falls and Abe is no longer around.

In 1798 Monte and Hannibal sign a Mutual Suicide Pact but Hannibal has put up a sterling defense against Abu so the Arabs and Hannibal sign a peace treaty.

In 1800 a worker is produced out of Entremont and Alesia is set to build another. I would build workers in those tow towns to put a little more speed behind the railroad crews, especially when it comes to railing the hills and mounatins. The rails net is complete from Entremont to Alesia and will complete to Lugdunum and the front soon (turn two or less)

There was no sign of tanks in Abu's attacks on Albuquerque Could it be that Abu has no oil?

Abu has the wherewithal to foment a dog-pile with the Celts at the bottom, so war with him is not too far off. The only thing I can think of to do is sign an MPP with Hannibal. Then wait for Abu to attack. The Aztecs are not a factor anymore.

The Iron Works is due to complete in Lugdunum in 12.

There are cavalry patrols in the mountains west of Lugdunum to act as monitors of Abu's behavior.

Our biggest problem is the sheer cost of knowledge relative to our ability to produce beakers. When a tech costs 3600 beakers and our population can only generate 140 or so per turn....it is a long way from here to there.

Could it be that a 3 city conquest victory just isn't possible past the mid-Middle Ages? The ever greater cost of knowledge and the 12 ctitzen population limit means that maintaining miltary parity is just not feasible....not to mention the inablility to keep up in troop production. Abu can produce faster than we can kill, at least until we get to Artillery which is at least 23 turns away....

We will have the resources to steal again in about 10 turns, so should go for Rep Parts then, about the time we have Industrialization...if we can leep things quiet that long...
