Another Update to my game:
Victory!!!
After many long years the Athenian Empire has gained ascendancy over the world. Here's what happened:
The road to final victory began with almost imminent defeat. The Persians, who I suspected had no real army, and who certainly had no real empire, attacked, through Kushan territory, the heart of my empire, with stacks of tough units. They immediately captured Athens and Delos, and I was only just able to push them out with my small army.
Unfortunately for me, another Persian army showed up on my border, many times larger than the last. I knew I could not hold out against their forces. I also knew there may be someone who could.
Contacting the Kushan, I secured an alliance. The Kushan War Elephents decimated the Persian Army, elite as they were. I then struck back at Persia, taking all of their territory, save one city. Shamed, they never bothered me again.
Following my victory was a golden age, lasting for centuries...
Peace, though, did not last forever...
The Persians had known when to quit. The Corinthians, however, did not. Allied now with the Celtiberians, they declared war once more. The Celtiberians, having only two cities, fell easily. I took their capital, and they accepted peace. The Corinthians too paid for their aggression, and I took all of their southern territory:
All this time, I had founded cities in former Persian and Celtiberian territory, and some Kushan cities also flipped to me. I now dominated the continent.
The Scottish declared war. This struck me as quite odd, as they were a small and backwards nation. Sending a fleet, I landed a massive army in the south of their island. However, I had misunderestimated (

) them, as they raised the clans, and fought me to their last man. In the end though, they were conquered, and once more I left my enemy with one city before giving terms.
A short peace followed, but it was ended by another war, the great war, the largest and longest war Athens had ever seen. Corinth attacked first. Surprised? This time, though, they had many allies: the Kushan, Egyptians, and Etruscans had all betrayed me. I was also prepared, though, with an enormous army left over from wars of long ago.
I was forced to destroy the Kushan. Left undefeated, I could not commit the amount of force I needed to break the Corinthians. Shame, too, because I was looking forward to seeing those cities in the fourth era

. Marching my army north, I conquered the Corinthians, who met the same fate as the Kushan, for the same reasons: I needed my army, my whole army, for the campaign ahead.
Assembling my fleet, I transported hordes of catarphracts to the western continent to do battle. They disembarked on the southern tip of that landmass, next to an Egyptian city, the defenders of which stood no chance against my might.
I easily subdued Egypt, leaving them with two cities. Gratefull, they agreed to an alliance against the Etruscans. The Etruscan territory to the north soon fell as well, and the long war was finally over. Yet true victory had still not been secured.
Now that I was the world's only superpower, it was only fitting that I went looking to start a war.
I found my excuse. Refusing my demand that they withdraw from my territory, the Norse declared war. I pressed deep into their territory, even managing to form an alliance with the Etruscans against them, when....
:drums:
Victory at last! I had subdued the world. Whole empires were now my vassals. Whole oceans were now my lakes. Athens now reigned supreme, and would for ever more.
The year was 1110 Anno Domini.
