Anno Domini beta : test it and feed back here!!

Indian stuff is hard to come by. Your still using alot of European units for Indian stuff and I can understand why. I couldn't understand the depth of at loss we are when it comes to Indian units until seeing it in my mod and in Anno Domini.

Mi vida loca (my crazy life). I've dled the updates. Installed 1.02 yesterday & played enough to know it installed ok. I'm trying to look at broad patterns of the three Indian civs (how they seem to relate to the others in game, if the "feel" of the play seems matched to the historic civs, etc.), but nothing definite to report yet.

Note to Ares: the Varangian is coming soon ;) as one of about half-a-dozen new units. It's rendering as I post :) .
You might not quite notice it from this angle, but there is a shield on his back. He uses CamJH's halberdier animations.

Edit: Varangian picture removed.

That unit looks really sweet and that axe even moreso! It shows some really incredible detail. Anyways, I'll give this beta a spin if you're still needing some testers (doubt it, considering how long this has been up). If I post something I notice and it's been said about a thousand times already, please don't hurt me! ;)

Awesome unit, Rob! Love the axe and can't wait to see him in game.

 that axe.. where did you get that axe?

Stormrage, Stormrage, I think I know what you want for your birthday!

About the mod, I've played two games so far, I played as the Anglo-Saxons in the first, and was destroyed by a Goth-Dacian-Hun Alliance. The second game, I'm playing as Athens. I haven't pissed off anyone yet, so hopefully I'll be able to last longer than the first game.

One question, what is the difference between the nomad and the flavor settler? When I looked at the civilopedia, I didn't see any difference.

Oh happy day!

O happy da---ay!

CC-2224- The difference is the price and the population cost. Nomads are more expensive and take 4 guys from the city, cultural specifics are cheaper and take 3.

From my garden shed ;) !!

The more the merrier; don't worry if you repeat previous comments, sometimes constructive advice is best said twice than never at all.

Let's hope so!! I'm glad you're trying out different civilizations :) .

One question, what is the difference between the nomad and the flavor settler? When I looked at the civilopedia, I didn't see any difference.
Firstly, the difference is that the nomad requires 60 shields and 3 population; the settler requires 30 shields and 2 population. The Huns' nomad requires 100 shields and 4 population. Secondly, I'm addressing the unit information in the civilopedia.

Further to the above, the units are getting a good makeover at the moment. I'm going through them one by one, making sure the civilopedia entry is correct and have added an extra line at the top : availability. This lists the civilizations that can build that unit; if it's available to everyone, I've put just "all civilizations;" for those units that are available to most civs except a couple of UUs, I've put, for example, "all civilizations except Nubia and Persia." Therefore, you know who can build what and things are clearer overall. Additionally, where I can find information for a history/descriptive civilopedia entry, I've done it. This is a slow, labourious process, but well worth it, judging from the results.

Edit: Jasmine's trade victory movies deleted.

Personally I prefer #2, but both are good.

A bit more graceful presentation on that first movie, Rob. . . #1

 Hi Rob, hi all, although a noob on this forum, I'll take the liberty here to express a slight preference for movie 2. Jasmin seems to get to the point a bit faster. But both movies are great

Thanks everyone for the opinions; the first movie takes it ;) .

In terms of the updates, I've decided to make this time next week when I upload the patch. This is because it's a 30MB update - and growing!! It's taken ages to go through all the units (three days and counting  ), but all the unit civilopedia entries are correct (quite a few now with descriptive text) and they all state who can build the unit, what it can do, etc. It's probably just as well, because there are now more flavour units and things seem to be coming together nicely.

The point is that I'm in the middle of a major overhaul, so I'd consider it a little pointless to upload a 30MB upgrade until it's finished. However, work is going full steam ahead, so there shouldn't be any problems with the makeover taking place next week as planned. If anyone is doing a unit that would fit in with the mod, I'd urge you to do it in the next week if possible please, then it could be in the next update ;) . Indian units are the most needed.
