When is republic available?

I see the Monarchy on the science advisor, but not republic, is it in a different name?

Republic's going to be a unique Roman government, IIRC, or it will come after Monarchy, I.E. in Era2 ;)

EDIT: Nope, it will probably replace Empire :)

That's right, it does. "Empire" is a generic government I've put in, but most civs will have a unique government (UG ;) ) at this point. "The Republic" is the Roman UG.

Nice to see RedAlert back after a short RL break :) .

I just watch the video, but I could only understand like 80% of what she said. I guess was because the echo in the room, and also because I learned English watching The Americans movies and TV series, and she is very British. :D

^ I'm having a lot of trouble understanding British accent too. :crazyeye:

(but I could understand her though, I practiced while I stayed in England :p)

For some reason, it just seems much harder than American accents...

When I read I hear myself in my mind saying things in American English. But when I talk I always want to stray to a Monthy Python style, or Scottish, then I start to giggle, restrain myself and end up sounding Russian :crazyeye:

So many times in school I couldn`t remember a word that I would if I talked with an accent, but I was always affraid I would freak the teacher out

I can also do a great southern USA accent and a decent Australian but not for long.

I can pull off a remarkable Irish accent myself...
Accents have never been a big boundary for me, and I can emulate them well :)

Good to see your alright Red. ;) thats the most important thing.
Thanks for looking out for me :)

I've been trying to cut down on the length of those ;)

Again, RL issues have got in the way of me making the headway I'd wanted. I am doing some work on the demo, but unfortunately, I'm not getting the time I really needed. Even though it's a demo, I want it to be quite polished and, in fact a fully-workable "first version." It shouldn't be that long away, but I'm not going to put up any timescales (I daren't!).

Sorry about this happening, but RL is clearly more important and there are some things I have to sort out. It's my birthday next Friday and we're going up to Manchester to see the George Michael concert (we have gold circle tickets!) and this will be the start of a 3-day celebration (followed by a day or two of recovery) = Civ not included. However, maybe after that....I do want to get something out before BTS comes out and tempts me over to the dark side...

On another point, what do you think would make a good government for Celtic civs (to replace Empire/the Republic)? Sorry about the double post, but I thought I was editing my previous post, but I was quoting it!

Well the Irish had the Brehon law, a form of law based on compensation. That was used in conjunction with kings of small areas, all under the rule of the high king.

Yup, as one can see in that link, the "small kings under the bigger king" system in Ireland :)

Rob don't go over to the dark side, resist the urge, for once you go down the dark path, forever shall it dominate your destiny...

Besides I was looking forward to your take on a New World anno domini from that idea you had if you ever get around to it.
