Another All White Protest in DC

it accomplished virtually nothing. Nobody sitting in the Obama Administration gave a flying crap about it. Media officials went because everybody likes a change to take a few pictures of Larouche guys and other wackos...but not because it is that important of a story. Members of Congress already knew older, white crazy people were upset...this protest wasn't going to change thteir mind.

The Tea Party movement has broken virtually every rule of effective protesting. The protests themselves are unfocused. The Tea Party people are trying to create a general "govt is too big" protest, but anybody on the ground at one of these things sees that it just devolves into a giant Anti Obama-fest, with signs parroting all manner of random arch-conservative causes.

Without that focus, and by allowing themselves to be portrayed as absolutely out to lunch, nobody of consequence is ever going to really care. Again, during the Bush administration, close to a million marched against the Iraq war. That is a *lot* of people...but it was taken over by Pot Smoking, Free Palestine, Chomsky-ites...so everybody wrote it off.

This bears repeating.

But the fact that the protesters have an unusually high percentage of whackadoos does not invalidate the complaint that the government is getting too big.

And the fact that the protesters have an unusually high percentage of white people (setting aside the legitimate counter that Obama has historically high approval ratings among black people) and/or racists does not invalidate the complaint that the government is getting too big.

And the fact that many conservatives didn't protest Bush for the same issue does not invalidate the complaint that the government is getting too big.

Ironically, your sig says "Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves. - Ronald Reagan" While what Reagan and other Republicans do is add government that controls human behavior, takes away freedom, and "protects people from themselves". While what these people are protesting against is government that protects people from other people and the random events of life. The hallmark of Reagan area deregulation was that elements of government that protected people from the actions of other people was dismantled. And yet government as a whole grew.

Look at this as a support group for election losers. These people really can't stomach losing the election and look for each other for support, like to call each other real Americans, and shout inanities to make themselves feel better. Better they get it out of their system publically where I can see it and point and laugh at it, then making a couple of psychiatrists rich.

I saw this on NBC news a short time ago, and noticed that, like the teabagger parties earlier in the year, there was not a non white face to be seen.

People that don't pay taxes, don't have much business protesting them. They're too busy spending time at their local ACORN offices learning how to milk the system...

RRW, of course it is political protesting. The majority of what the media is showing is the crazies....but there are a lot of people there that are not crazy at all, and simply want their voice to be heard on the issue.

To be fair, the dude that made that one is crazier than the average. But yes, there are some that are just that crazy.

Look at this as a support group for election losers. See, this part is where I have some sympathy for them. Bush I became president when I was fourteen and I basically grew up on the losing side of elections. After honestly believing the president wiped his ass with the Constitution, I can definitely sympathize with folks who believe the president wants to destroy America for his own gain. Of course, these people are wronger, and even if Obama's socialist policies are bad, they've got nothing on wars of aggression. It is nice to be on the winning team after so many years.

Can you clarify, please, then, what "the issue" is? I've been looking at this loonfest for three days now and I still can't tell what they're upset about, besides "Obama = Hitler".
