Any other site with games like these?

I believe the Paradox forums have some sort of forum game section, though I don't know what goes on over there.

Nope, we are your only hope.

The Frontier hosts several NES-like games which evolved in isolation to our own. Several of our members are colonists from that site. Apolyton used to have active NESes, but they have faded from prominence.

They must exist, but the chance of finding them is like looking for a grain of sand in the ocean, that only existed for 1 second in the last 100 years.

Joiiiiiiinnnn ussssssss

Such polar responses. It is clear who the potential trolls are here.

Just curious, do you often walk into your local McDonald's high class steak house and ask for the location of the nearest Burger King?

Well, if burger-eating were an obscure and rare hobby, it probably would happen quite frequently, as one tries to learn where one might try these sandwich-like beef meals.

Really? I wouldn't ask someone for direction to their competition, would seem rather insulting.

Oh hello, I want something like this, but you're not good enough, can you tell me if the other guy is better? Toodles!

It's OK, I don't think we really have any competition.

My grandmother did something like that the other day.

She was trying to find a Korean BBQ house that she used to go to when she was young and asked another Korean BBQ store for directions.

To be fair she knew that the BBQ store was run by a relative of the first BBQ house.

I don't view it as some sort of zero-sum competition. I figure if someone's looking for other forums, they're looking for more games to take part in. It's enriching NESing and NES-like roleplaying activities as a whole, which seems like a good thing to me. I don't think anyone who's already here is very likely to leave because they find a better NES-like activity elsewhere. :p

The Frontier was an offshoot from the Apolyton forums, back in the day.

There are currently two games running, none of them histpol games -- in general, expect play that is a good deal more cutthroat than CFC, and considerably more rigorous mechanics.

Actually, my criticism would be that (as befits Total War) players lead and put more emphasis on armies, wherein here we tend to lead states.

For an example (chosen admittedly at random) from the totalwar.org forums:
Spoiler :

The rules you can expect:

The map will feature provinces. The movement rate is one province per turn. One turn is equal to a month in-game, no matter the time IRL.

The recruitment list is as follows:
Militia Brigade - 5,000
Infantry Brigade - 4,000
Guard Infantry Brigade - 2,000 - Max of 5 Units

Light Cavalry Brigade - 1,000
Heavy Cavalry Brigade - 800
Guard Cavalry Brigade - 500 - Max of 5 Units

Light Artillery Battery - 120 + 12 Guns
Howitzer Battery - 100 + 10 Guns
Heavy Artillery Battery - 80 + 8 Guns - Max of 5 Units

And as a concept from the TWC IHs, the following Battalions that can be attached to Brigades;

Skirmisher Battalion - 500 - Attachable to Infantry only
Grenadier Battalion - 500 - Attachable to Infantry only

Dragoon Battalion - 200 - Attachable to Cavalry only
Horse Artillery Battery - 60 + 6 Guns - Attachable to Cavalry only

Artillery, though a small unit, counts as a Brigade, with the exception of Horse Artillery. Therefore, a sample Army could look like:
I. Infantry/Skirmishers
II. Infantry/Skirmishers
III. Infantry/Grenadiers
I. Light Cavalry/Dragoons
II. Light Cavalry/Horse Artillery

and so on and so forth.

4 Brigades make a Division.
3 Divisions make a Corps.
An Army can be made of however many Corps you want.

Compared to the rules of, say, CI. Capto Iugulum doesn't deal in anything smaller than Brigades, as opposed to the battalions (two levels of division smaller, for the militarily uninitiated). Likewise, there is simply Infantry/Artillery/Cavalry, as opposed to the wealth of options totalwar.org provides. We have a more detailed and emphasized economic model, and more options for peacetime.

At least, from what I see. So, similar, particularly with the games you try to launch, ELITEOFWARMAN8. But we operate largely on different scales.
