Anybody interested in a new game?

Ok, there's no link but I like decorating an empty post with pictures

I think putting only "19. Rg1..." is stupid

If your move was of great force, then I don't think it would need extra decoration!

Now I get the chance to do what I prepared earlier...

19. Rg1 b5
20. ...

You said that ten moves ago and it wasn't!
smile.gif

I'll play the predictable recapture...

19. Rg1 b5
20. axb5 Rxb5
21. ...

Me? Sadistic?

19. Rg1 b5
20. axb5 Rxb5
21. Ra2 Rfb8
22. ...

Another very predictable move for me this time.

19. Rg1 b5
20. axb5 Rxb5
21. Ra2 Rfb8
22. Rb1...

Mine too. Well, honestly, if you remember our last friday bar, you told me that some people used a special technic: they block all the enemy units and slowly move their king to checkmate. The same is happening here. I would like to resign. Even though I've 2 rooks left, I can't stand the challenge any more. Nevertheless, perhaps I'll go on, for 2 main reasons:
_ 1st, I'll have experience playing with a professsional like you
wink.gif

_ 2nd, I play chess for fun. So I want fun until my head lies down the floor
biggrin.gif

And hope you aren't too bored playing against a penguin-brained opponent

Me block? You mean like this?

19. Rg1 b5
20. axb5 Rxb5
21. Ra2 Rfb8
22. Rb1 Rb3
23. ...

The only Penguin brained bit about you is your love of Linux, which is a Good Thing! I'm flattered my your assessment of my skills, but I'm playing a slow squeeze and not a flashy game. Other people better than me might have done all sorts of fancy stuff by now. I just have a simple mind. As long as you want to carry on, I will carry on.

Ha ha! I was only pretending to block! It was all a hoax, a fake, a decoy!
lol.gif
The real purpose of my last move was quite different.

BTW, what's our favourite and appreciated chess kibitzer doing? Haven't heard from him since a while. Didnt' see him commenting our game for long. He now totally ignores Shadowdale and me

I think the kibitzer feels that it would be rude to make comments too often. But I'm sure he'll be back...

You're wrong, I really enjoy sarcastic and funny kibitzing, especially when I'm in an uncomfortable situation (cf. Shadowdale-me)

OK, I'll see if he's available...
Meanwhile, I can check you and shelter my attacked knight simultaneously.

OK. I accept your resignation!

You may be interested to know that when I played my 11th move 11. ... a5, I was planning to force Nd4 eventually. I needed to get your c3 pawn out of the way as it was guarding d4. The point of 11...a5 was to ensure that if you played b4, I could go ab and if you responded cb I would have my d4 square. Then I needed to play b5, so that if you didn't play b4 yourself, I could play b4 and attack your c3 pawn. Hence when you played a4, attacking the empty b5 square, I needed to play Rb8 first before pushing the b pawn. I figured the worst I could get was pressure down the b file with doubled rooks (which I eventually got).

What was the point of all this you say? I figured when I made my 11th move that if I could play Nd4 at some stage I would have a won game. Little did I know that the game would actually be over on the same move that I eventually played Nd4!

Stormerne it's incredible I can merely imagine such a tactic sense. You can see everything, the smallest leak in my defense! Amazing. Never seen such a deep analyse. And... thanks for that fun game. I've learned some diabolic tactics from you
Mmm, back to the 11th move trying to understand what you said

And btw I think you should play Shadowdales's friend, now you're freed from one game. I'll be really impressed by this Herchin-Stormerne titan schock!

It's not so much a tactical sense as a strategic sense. The tactics are what make the strategy happen.

I need a rest from chess for a few days! I may play someone after the 12th of June, but I've got a conference talk to organise first.

Thank you for the game. I'm not up to full speed again yet at chess so I'm glad we both learnt something from it.
