AoHNES- Roman Empire

-Events of the World-

As people begin to move into new areas, the city of Edinburgh has been formed in the Scottish Celtic area.

The Romans have gone on a railbuilding spree as the cities of Venice and Marsellies have been connected to the growing rail net for 6 WC. The roman economy has grown by 2 as a result.

Rumor has it that the Hun tribe has arrived on eastern Roman borders and are offering assistence if the Romans can assist them against the approaching Mongols.

Massive raiding of the Roman african colonies have occured, as the majority of Roman soldiers are in the north. Numidians gain 2 gold.

The Sycthians and Mongols have met! The Sycthians came across the Mongol encampment. What these two barbarian groups will now do is awaited by each side's people.

The Banished have proceeded to head south, burning all in their path. the people of the Goths shiver in fear at the thought of the raging horde of these banished Vikings.

A great army has arrived in Northern Rome. The Goths, with their new Frankish and Ironeye allies have taken much territory, as the much smaller Roman army falls back to the city of Alesia. A battle has yet to begin, however, Roman civilians have massed to defend their land (+1,000 Warriors and 500 Archers for Rome). Pillaging has been quite successful for both hordes involved resulting in 1 gold pillaged for each.

@Global nexus- this is AD 12- the roman army was known for feats of taking on 100,000 warriors with only 10,000 and WINNING- numbers are of absoloutley no consequence to the Roman army of this era

the roman empire has gone through some bad times and is in decline...

what on earth are you talking baout- its AD 12, Augustus, the greatest Roman statsman isnt dead, in real life, the Inmpeiral army had over 300,000 troops, and thats just an estimate based on how many leigons wer ein service combined with Auxilla numbers based on what was deploye dto conqoure Britian around AD 40

even then, over two thirds of the roman leigosn had been settled in veteran camps to Romanize the local popualce of so much newlly conqoured land, and act as a last ditch defence of the Roman frontir, little needed becaus eof the stregth of the legions.

the NES is horriblly inaacurate in that aspect- its takes a pictur eof Rome when it was still asceding to the very height and glory f its power in AD 119 (its largest territorial extent, stretching from mid scoptland down into northern Sudan and in the east touching botht he caspian sea, and the Persian gulf)

it's for fun Xen, historical accuracy need not apply.

when you start an NES off from a real histoirical time period, and set up a scenario along its lines, you default fantasy in return for realism.

as a note, this is what the map shuld be orginized along the lines of- a stiff difference

*note this also happens to be at AD 12, a coinidence, as I was just lookign for a generirc map of the Roman empire at the reign of augustus

*note2- it dosent count principalities, vassl anations, and tributary nations as par tof the empire

errrr, xen, this is an alternate history NES. nothing is, nor needs to be, historically accurate.

alternate history that starts on a historical basis

there is all the need for historical accurcy in any NES under such pretenses

No, there isn't.

for you, perhaps that is the case, but for those who do know history in a better debt then what the school system issues, there is, other wise NES's seem more of an empty shell then have nay real depth to them.

xen. i don't find anything in this nes even close to real history. trains in 12ad?

to schytians:
why fight? we are both tribes from far in the east looking for neither a run away enemy or new lands to live and prossper... Let us unite and continue to move togehter into both south and west until we reach lands youi could settle, and the huns that we wish to destory...

FACT- heron of Alexandria designed a prototype steam turbine; he never devloped, or never got around to developing an industrial use for the turbine- this NES assumes that he had, which, given his other inventions, is not at all an exageration of hus genious

well, it's not historical accurate if he did... it's a change... so who said other changes didn't happand that we never got to know? like rome shape...
