Western Front, The Ardennes Forest.
The war was comming to its end, Iosef von Dunkelheit was a high ranking highly decorated officer in the 1st SS Liebstandarten Division. He appeared older than he actually was, one would judge him to have been thirty rather than twenty five. The war had gone wrong since the winter of '41, before that Germany was invincible. Theorists and historians would come to blame it on hitler, on the winter and the russian numbers and industry. But Iosef knew what it was, he wasnt a regular officer in the Waffen SS, he was secretly a member of 'The Knights of the Holy Lance'. He was under only Himmler himself when it came to the occult Bureau of the SS. But himmler was more obsesed on other things like finding the remainings of older kings and finding ways to eliminate gods chosen people.
Iosef had in his hands a box of fine oak, and inside a treasure when it came to history and a relic when it came to Religion.
The artifact is known as the Spear of Destiny, Holy Lance, Holy Spear, Lance of Longinus, or Spear of Longinus. It had a long history and it was that one reported on the Gospel of John (19:31-37) as having pierced the side of Jesus during his crucifixion.
The spear had gone from Crusaders to Constantinople, to Rome, to its final place in the Vienna that once ruled the Holy roman empire. Finally, during the anschluss of Germany and Austria, the Spear was collected by the SS and brought to Germany. This speer then was used in occult rituals, rituals that Iosef remembers had brought Germany virtual invincibility and strenght to conquer europe in matter of months!.
Hitler would later go on to reject many German mystics, openly ridiculing them, particularly practitioners of Freemasonry, Theosophy and Anthroposophy. The speer was then not used anymore, and therefore its spell in the army was lost.
And here we were, on the verge of destruction, Iosef tought to himself, but his face did not have a frown, but rather a smile. As his staff car moved through the cold dark dirtroads of the forest, he arrived at his destination. There were a group of men, numbering no more than twenty five. There were the typical nazi banners with the swastikas on them. Iosef opened the box, took the spear out, and raised it for everyone to see.
Hitler has given Authorization for us to use it again!, and so shall we!. The SS men saluted. Their medals rambling and their faces scared by war.
Everyone there had been a member of the Thule society prior to the war, in fact they had originally used the swastika as their symbol, and one of them had helped Hitler with his speach skills in the late twenties. The ritual took place all night long. As it took place a strange mist rose, then fog, then the sky became cloudy. So cloudy that Allied airplanes would not be able to fly. The Panzers had their engines rummbling, despite having no fuel in them. Soldiers of the Waffen SS and Wehrmacht felt a sensation of energy and inspiration, they felt great, as good as 1939 & 1940. The Battle of the Bulge would take place, and Germany would succeed!.
But as destiny had it, the speer would be lost due to a very lucky bullet. The man that was carring it, died and the spear fell into the snow. Iosef would go mad trying to find it again, not noticing the tanks halting for its real lack of fuel, the men utterly fatigued again and the sky clearing up. He never found the spear, and had to retreat.
