Yes. This thread encourages self-reflection that we might know more about others through knowing ourselves. Are we truly men, or are we overgrown boys playing at being men? By forcing the respondent to reflect upon his own level of maturity, this question asks not how society views the respondent, but how he views himself. This in turn helps to limn what manhood means in a modern society where traditional gender roles are rapidly fading and adolescence seems to stretch on well into legal adulthood.

Also it separates the New Wave fans from the boys.

Given the lack of meaningful and recognized coming-of-age rituals in my society, it's very hard to tell when a boy becomes a man, or a girl a woman. Bar and Bat Mitzvahs come close but seem to happen much too early; I can't really say that most young teens are adults in any way.

Personally, being an adult would include for me:
- driving license
- job
- own appartment, for which you pay yourself
- partner
That's at least when I'd say that you're not a kid anymore.
