Argentina: The rise of an Empire (RFC:DoC)

Chapter 3: Oil and Prosperity

Oil, until the beggining of the 20th century, was a fuel as important as any other as it did not bring any advatges. Then the tanks, and the cars, and modern society, all needed oil.

Despite Argentina conquered one of the richest territories in the world, the oil was located on Korean China. Emperor Joseph II did not want to go at war with Korea yet. He considered other targets apt for conquering.

9tg3.jpg

Indonesia had the oil he needed. Not only that, but it was a weaker target than Korea, who could make a surprise upgrade to his seemingly outdated army. Indonesia's army was outdated and could not possibily compete with Argentina's army, who was ready to wipe the Indonesian nations out fo existance.

The army was waiting on Singapore for the oportune moment to strike. When they had enough supplies, that was when Emperor Joseph II declared war on Singapore. The casus belli was that the Indonesian goverment backed up the CLA. This was false however, and the images that Argentina put of Indonesian armies on the CLA were smartly retouched by picking random captured photos from the CLA, then adding chinese soldiers more tan and adding the Indonesian army flag instead of the CLA symbols. However, the reason behind it, was, as stated previously, simply to get the oil from the indonesians.

The war went much easier for Argentina that on China. That was becauuse cities could be bombarded from the sea as they were entirely coastal and within short time, Westren Indonesia fell to Argentina.

sugr.jpg

The war was very short. Like on China, Indonesia used outdated troops that were easily defeated. There is not much to tell here except that soon Indonesian goverment collapsed and that Argentine troops were in control of the whole archipielago.

After the fall of Indonesia to Argentine troops, Emperor Joseph II died shortly afterwards, probabily after being poisoned by an indonesian that was working on the palace.

Spoiler :
Actually, that's a pic of the skyline of Shangai

At first, it seemed that Argentina finished off Indonesia in vain. Afterall, they couldn't exploit what they came from. However, after the discovery of Plastics, they could grab their loot. After the death of Joseph II, his son, Juan I "The Idle" took over.

By then, politics on the world began to show their failure, and WWI broke out. I can't remember the factions at WWI, but many were involved including Korea, Austria, Brazil, etc.

While the world was beating eachother to death and Stalin was nuking the hell out of everyone, Argentina was reaching a golden age.

h2et.jpg

Well, almost. Guerrilla organizations like the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), ILF (Indonesian Liberation Front) and many other parties began to sabotage the Argentine Empire. There were never direct confrontations ever since the end of their respective conflicts though but they were always active, ready to destroy the Argentine infraestrucure.

Here's the fun pic of the day.

dat civic choice for ussa

---------------------------

There wasn't really much to tell here, I don't know how I'm going to flesh out the fact that Argentina was having a boom. Episode 4 is also going to be short and with few images since when I was playing I forgot to take them. I was enjoying...
Spoiler :
beating the hell out of Brazil

Also I'm preparing a new story for you guys set on the medieval ages.

What are the conditions for this particular one?

*Persia/Iran has to be an empire (I don't know what that means, but it is usually triggered by exceeding a certain number of cities while not running certain civics which have a distinctive dynamic name - i.e. the communist, fascist or democratic set and others.
*Medieval or later

EDIT: And what the cauliflower is a feudal republic running capitalist church-sponsored communism

hmm... i think you should be spain for the next, they start at a good time and in my reccent spainish game i controlled all of western europe (with some help from my vassal holy rome) and iberia AND i was like +50 stability(somehow) until i start conquering like 4 civs at the same time (it was around 1400, plauge had just hit and i was fighting portugal france the aztecs and incaland all at the same time, france was really more or less the city state of paris(though for some reason they had budapest and paris :crazyeye:))

In DoC, Persia respawns as Iran (a new civ with new UP and UU) in 1500. I don't know the exact conditions, though.

I like the US's name when it is fascist, the Empire of Columbia.

What victory are you gunning for?

oh, the good ole kill and collapse strategy

i love that one, you build a huge empire and switch to another civ when it's on the very verge of collapse

There are no civ spawns post 1822 AD.

In DoC, Persia respawns as Iran (a new civ with new UP and UU) in 1500. I don't know the exact conditions, though.

They always spawn unless Persia is alive, and either way they get the dynamic name.

I like the US's name when it is fascist, the Empire of Columbia.

Pretty much all civic combinations which don't lead to United States of America give that dynamic name. City States? Empire of Columbia. Hereditary Rule? Empire of Columbia. Republic + Absolutism + Serfdom + Environmentalism + Theocracy? Empire of Columbia.

Chapter 4: War against Brazil.
(thanks Moai Spammer for the idea of this chapter)

Last chapter we have seen how unstable Argentina really was. After the war, the CLA broke up into the NCLA (National Chinese Liberation Army) and the CCP (Chinese Communist Party). Both were very popular in China and street fights between the imperial police and these groups were common. This was further worsened by the colonization of Northren Australia, which was the excuse the guerrillas needed to bombard the streets with slogans like "The evil Argentine Imperialists colonized Australia. Next, the world"

In order to stop the rebels, the heir of Juan I, Martin II, decided to invade Brazil so that he can impress or scare them. He exploited a flooding that occured in Montevideo a la 2013 Buenos Aires floods and blamed it on the brazilian-descendant governor pruposedly clogging the pipes although there was no evidence of the "clogging" as well as the fact that there was a dispute for the ownage of the Uruguay river. The governor was arrested and militar forces rallied in Montevideo not only to help the victims but to prepare. By then, Argentina had one of the biggest armies in the world, ranking in 9-5th positions.

The reasons to choose Brazil was the fact that it was near Buenos Aires and wasn't as hilly as the Mughal India. By then, Brazil was also at war with powers like France, so the emperor could use it to boost international support towards the Argentines.

Finally, a small navy composed of only 4 ships crossed the frontier after the declaration of war has been signed.

ygxu.jpg

The war went better than expected. The Argentines did not meet important resistance from the Brazilians, Sao Pablo and Fou de Iguazu fell quickly. The Brazilians were weakened by franco-colombian armies whom conquered most of Brazil.

The Brazilians tried to sally forth the blockade from Rio de Janeiro that was imposed by Argentines but their efforts were in vain. They were defeated by the navy and soon Rio de Janeiro was under Argentine's armed forces watch. It also fell rapidly.

But soon in the height of the war it was clear that Argentina had no intentions of resolving a territorial dispute. First, by the fall of Fou de Iguazu, a city that wasn't in the area of dispute, and then by the attack on Panarama, which also fell.

In a pace of just 5 years, most of Brazil was under Argentine hands and a puppet state was set up in the few cities that did not fell to Argentina.

hfei.jpg

Despite the huge speed that it took to conquer such territory like Brazil, it only backfired as now many more guerrillas began to rally, making things much harder for Argentina. By then, the control that the country had over it's empire was doubtful and a revolution is brewing on all the territories the empire has conquered. An alliance of the major guerrillas was formed by the time named FWF (Freedom Warriors Front) which made guerrilla operations more useful and it also had plans to bribe governors into declaring independence.

Ooh... Collapse and reconquest?

Who's next? Colombia?

aww yeah, these will be an epic final 19 turns :D

So this story is just going to be five chapters? :dubious:

i guess lol

Didn't post for a combination of lazy, Star Trek viewing, DoC playing and the week is busy. Here is the long awaited Part 4!

From now I won't organize it on episodes. The game time slows down so much that it obsoletes the episodes. They will be replaced by the reigns of the emperors.

"4th episode", 7th Emperor of the River Plate, Baltasar II "The Conqueror"
(or commonly known in Argentina as "The Great"

Spoiler :
Actually, it is a photo from Hipolito Yrigoyen

When Baltasar the Conqueror assumed power on the Argentine Empire, despite that his country was one of the great powers that the world has ever witnessed, behind the might the yearly militar parades and the size of the empire, he was very unpopular on the conquered areas. That unpopularity was ever since the landings on Hangzhou.

During his reign, the opposition became more and more powerful. To the point that at the first year of his reign, the puppet state of Brazil dissintegrated into anarchy.

n1ue.jpg

His reaction was immediate. He sent all his troops to unite the separatist states into direct Argentine control. He nearly succeded in uniting the territory when a nasty surprise hit him very hard.

3lns.jpg

His empire split into civil war! One of the world's superpowers has lost it's oversea possesions! When he heard about the news, he was furious. He immediatily ordered the reconquest of his former territories. He also reshaped the war tactics and gave the provinces more autonomy. He also tested the first ever argentine-made nuclear missile.

But wait a minute... Something else happened at his reign that would forever change human history.

The USSA sent their ships into an interestellar journey and succeded in their way. They arrived in Alpha Centauri and they are now establishing the first outer solar system human colony.

Argentina declared war on the Mughals. This event occured because half of Argentine China was lost to Korea during the downfall of the goverment (and one to Siam[pissed]). There were 2 main conflicts, both victories to Argentina.

First off, an expedition to Tibet where Argentina conquered Lasa, and second, the defense of Chengdu, where reinforcements came just in time to stop the Mughals conquer the city. This caused enough pressure to cause the Mughal Empire to shatter apart. The emperor lived long enough to conquer North-east India, but later he caught a flu and died.

Here are two epic screenshots, as well as the scene of the crime.
