Welcome everybody! This my first attempt at modding and I hope you appreciate it. There are some bugs I still need to address, but I'm up past my curfew on a school night. So I'll fix it and upload screen shots later.

Leader: Charles Poston (Industrious/Financial)
Unique Unit: Brave (Scout with +1 strength and the ability to pillage)
Unique Building: Refinery (Forge with 50%+ production instead of 25%+)
Starting Techs: Hunting and Mining

Credits:
Spoiler :
The_J and Captain Lepidus for helping me out.
Wikipedia for the Leader description.
CityData for the Civ description.

Nice to see that it's finally done :goodjob:.
Something messed up the leader and civ names regular BTS civs (And only the BTS civs for some reason), but with the XML modding experience from you and CL gave me, I should be able to fix them and get the patch up by the end of tonight.

The problem is more serious then I thought. Every game text added to the game or civilopedia from BTS is messed up. Could you help me out again The J?

Uh, okay, the error message is confusing and not to 100% helpful.
But it mentions the tag Civ4GameText, and if you take a look at your file, the end doesn't have the
PHP:
</Civ4GameText>
tag.
Alright, that's fixed, but my flag won't load. It comes out as blank white.

I wanted to take a look at the file and noticed that you forgot to include all art in the .zip in the starting post.

and in the xml, please remove here:
PHP:
<Button>,Art/Interface/Buttons/Civilizations/azflag3.dds</Button>

the comma at the beginning. It#s only correct with a comma when you have a normal button and a button in an atlas file.

I did both of the things you suggested and it still came up as blank.

Congrats on creating a mod.
I didn't know anyone was doing US states as Empires.
I looked up the leader, and can see in his description "Explorer", and figure that is where you got the idea of the UU and named it after the Indians.
That seems like a mixed combination though, as the leader wasn't born, until 1825. So, the UU should be a late game unit, Rifleman/Calvary era.
Mining makes since for a starting tech, The knew about Corn, so, Ag would work too. Definitely not fishing, LOL. Oh, you gave them hunting, for the scout, I guess.
It sound like you wanted an improved scout for the early part of the game, but, a 4000 BC unit, in the Americas? Sounds like a Paleo-Indian tribe posssible.
The wiki mentions the Cochise people an indian tribe. It also mentions Apache.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochise_Tradition
With 5800 years of difference between the UU and tribe and American parts, it seems like it needs some work to distinguish it an a real empire.
There is already America. There is Native Americans. But, the Apache, or this distant ancestor seems like the fit for your scout.
Anyway, I hope that helps.
Not everyone likes critiques.
