Asian Colonization (Pure Fantasy) Development thread

Would it be a good idea to have Asians able to receive wheat farmers and Europeans receive rice farmers sometimes? Maybe the natives can learn after a point...

So does the SEA civ name decided yet??
Just a suggestion
Try majapahit.
Their time line rather match with colonization time line. And the other plus factor is, they united indonesia, malaysia, and south Philippines, also south thailand.
Almost all of the SEA right???
For uu i would suggest this one
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped..._5.png/250px--HK_CityHall_Seaview_51217_5.png
But it would look like the chinese caravel

But if you want SEA civ that really match wit the colonization time, try Malacca. They had a good relation with ottoman and so on

let's tackle this slowly , this mod is meant to let asians colonize america , why let khmer or tibet be natives
^younflancy-some elements are included of your china are included in the mod , but how did you make china at the west?

BTW , can someone provide info on how you want the col leaders look like , and if possible help me with some matters such as the terrain. This should reach Ekmek or Geomodder , I can't do the art alone

Well I intend to do more Asian female leaders. My Jingu is the latest example. You guys can piggy back off that if you can work out names.

New hint, just remove the wheat completely from the game and change it to rice, as the wheat was an European-African resource and Rice an Asian one.
Works as long as we don't have Europeans. I haven't figured out if they're staying or not. (It'd be cool if they were an option.)

For leaderhead music, I suggest ConquestsJapanese1 and 2 (I think they're under Warlords background music) for the Japanese guys, and CivIIIMidAsian (or ChineseAdam) and ChineseUni for the Chinese (also under Warlords/Assets/Sounds/Soundtrack - maybe use CivIIIMidAsian for Korea).

And I think we should replace the Ashigaru Pikeman with Ashigaru Musketeer, since the Asians had firearms.

Actually my taizong is for Zheng , and Ho for a japanese , BTW , pls provide more info for Vijayanagara

Here is my knowledge on the subject and i'll leave it to you guys to determine what you want to use from it.

First off, it was the Vijaynagar Empire, Vijayanagara was the name of the capital city that laid the foundation of the empire; much like how the city of ROME is different from ROMAN EMPIRE. The Vijaynagar Empire was started by Madhav Vidyaranya and his brother Sayana when they founded the capital city of Vijayanagara in 1374, as they fought the northern hindu states and and the muslim sultanates, although they are not as important to the empire's history as others. For the next two centuries the empire expanded to encompass all of southern india.

The two most important leaders of the empire were Krishnadevaraya (reigned 1509-1529) and Achyutaraya (reigned 1529-1542). They vastly expanded the borders of the empire, established diplomatic contacts with the great asian powers (specifically Ming China), as well as become kings that spent a lot of the empire's wealth on cultural improvements and war. Specifically, they made the Vijaynagar Empire into what it was to become, an economic and cultural giant; the netherlands of India and the Greece of the Subcontinent. The market of Vijayanagara became one of the leading economic markets in asia and in the world, especially when connected to the Mangalore, Honavar, Bhatkal ports on the eastern coast of the state. If one were to list the greatest cities in the world at the dawn of the sixteenth century Vijayanagara would be alonside Constantinople, Penking, and Paris. The Vijaynagar Empire established trading ties with china, southeast asia, and arabia, mostly securing military equipment, soldiers, and elephants, while exporting lucrative trade commodities like weavings and raw resources like cotton, indigo, spices, precious stones, and porcelaine.

The Empire was founded on warfare, and just as with greece, the Vijaynagar Empire had regular seasons of war, usually following the Mahanavami festival.
The Empire's administrative foundations lay in the unique quality of the Nayakas, warrior governors that furnished the Kings of Vijayanagara with troops, supplies, and equipment, while the kings provided the Nayakas with imperial money and services as well as generous donations to the temples that made up the Nayakas administrative districts, to govern and keep order in the kingdom. To keep order the kings and Nayakas allowed for religious freedom and established a maritime fleet that carried their goods to the corners of asia and africa, with permanent trade contacts in Aden, Mecca, Persian ports, Java, and Brunei.

In 1565, the empire lost a momentous battle to the muslims that caused the kings to abandon Vijayanagara, as the city lay on the empire's northern most border (the city lies on two river banks, in the middle of southern india, but the rivers connected it to the ocean. It's geographic and political/economic foundations were similar to Seville and the gualdilquivir river). this date represents the decline of the empire, but it does not represent it's collapse because it retained it's independance for another century. It's much like the defeat of the spanish armada really had little effect on the spanish (other than that they didn't conquer Enland) but it demonstrated they lacked the funds and the manpower to expand their domains and thus began to suffer political and economic setbacks from which they would never fully recover.

As to units, the empire was one of the first indian states to employ long ranged artillary manned by foreign gunners (usually from Turkistan). They had an army numbering at about 1.1 million with a significant amount them being infantry. They rarely relied on massive frontal assualts like the russians did though, and they only fought in strategic locations. THey had important and lasting trade relations with the portuguese in Goa and they provided the empire with musketeers and artillery. The empire depended on foreign trade, especially for military purposes; and when you make this state in the game, i hope you represent that.

I hope this helps you with creating the Vijaynagar Empire.

Krishnadevaraya- militaristic and religious. He doubled the size of the state as well as found and expand the hindu temples. He almost thought of himself as the last true defender of hinduism (kinda like how Charles V that he was the defender of christianity).

Achyutaraya- militaristic and Trade oriented (You decide on what the trade benefits shoulld be). He conquered the Deccan Peninsula as well as secure trading outposts in the pacific and establish trading rights in the major markets of asia. It was his expansion of the empire's economy that allowed the state to continue to flourish in a time of continious war.

No problem:king::goodjob:

Looks good, thanks.

Couple suggestions:
'Emperor of Japan' should probably be 'Shougun of Japan', since the Emperor really didn't do anything between 1600-1850.
And the text on the Zheng He screenshot has it as 'King of China' instead of 'Emperor of China' or 'Ming Emperor' or whatever you want.

It should be "Emperor of Vijayanagar". The word "Maharaja" is Sanskrit, and used primarily in cultures using the languages Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati and Bengali. The Vijayanagars used Kannada as their primary language, and some regions used Tamil and Telugu. While Sanskrit was indeed important (this was a Hinduist empire, after all), I'm pretty sure the Vijayanagars never used the term "Maharaja" to describe their rulers.

Korea is always ignored/misunderstood as usual...sigh:sad:

Korea was called Joseon since 1398 under the Yi family, when Wang Kon's Goryeo dynasty ended. If you guys are going to use historical names that is.

Kao'chai, you can use my Sejong leaderhead for "King of Korea" if you want:D.

Merry Christmas:)

Speaking of Korea, i didn't read through this thread much, so i don't know if it's settled or not but shouldn't Korea have a second colonial leader? If so, this might be what you're looking for.

And yes, this mod looks great. :)

Seems like Korea and Japan need a 'Past events have drawn our people apart' diplomacy thingy.

How much of this is actually done so far?

bubba/ Won Gyun is definately not a good leader for colonization. He was a corrupt and scheming official who got Admiral Yi imprisoned on false charges and sunk his entire fleet. Of course after this the King reappointed Yi who defeated 333 japanese ships with only 13. :D

I suggest Jang Bo-go (Shilla dynasty maritime trade warlord, hugely influential) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jang_Bogo

What about Chinese Mandarin or Bureaucrat? China had no hereditary noble class in the Western meaning (except the imperial family), and most of the imperial posts were filled by mandarins. In more remote newly acquired areas, mandarins (serving as governors) were expected to use their own devices, independent from the capital, to maintain the imperial property and support the imperial army stationed there. Very good training for leaders of future independent nations deciding to split from the motherland...

Mandarin are form the Qing dynasty, they are the Manchu nobleman. In the context of the game you will be dealing with the Ming Dynasty

To keep everybody motivated time for a screenie;)
