To be honest, I doubt that any of my interest would put me in a social situation.
Here is the rundown:
Anime/Manga
Learning a language (Japanese)
Japanese culture
Model Railroading
Watching Movies and TV
Enjoying Nature.
The last two are good for social situations
Girls love taking peaceful walks/hikes in nature. Not only can you meet some this way, but when you do meet some, take them into nature away from their everyday stresses and worries.
Stop. That's just insane to stop talking to people because of a bad experience. It's just talk. If her dude steps in then engage him too.
OK well get a clue. It's your first job then. Figure out what you'd like to do.
There's a million things you can do.
- Volunteer to a charitable organization you're passionate about. I've met people volunteering for the Children's Hospital and soup kitchens in Chicago.
- Many churches have singles organizations. Join.
- Continuing education courses are great because you can meet someone with similar interests. Taking a improv class would help you. A lot.
- Physical activities like crewing a boat. Sailboat people are always looking for people to help them take their boat out. It's summertime. What's going on there?
- There's clubs for specfic interests.
- Online dating
- There's no better place to meet a anime person than a book store I'd think.
- Go to street or art festivals.

That's a really good point.
Actually, bad experience aside, you'd probably do well to talk to "attached" women specifically. That way, the pressure's off, but you can get a feel for how girls work. What's more, if you make some she-friends, you get your own real-life "ask a girl!" threads that know you personally. And who knows, if one of them detaches, you've got a solid base of friendship to work up from.

Glad to hear you've gotten an attitude adjustment, and are finally taking advice.
Single women may be found almost anywhere, but certain locations attract women to congregate more than others. Those locations would be restaurants, coffee shops, bars, nightclubs, malls, festivals, and parties. This list is not exhaustive. The point being that you can meet a girl anywhere.
The only women that you should consider being off-limits to you are the married ones and the ones with boyfriends present at the time of your encounter. The married ones are easy enough to identify -- they wear rings. Otherwise, all women are fair game and if you have no obstacles, you shouldn't even give this issue any consideration. If you play your cards right, a woman with a boyfriend will quickly forget all about him in your favor.

The same thing guys think of guys who are card-carrying members of the Communist Party. Some don't like it, some like it, some don't care one way or the other. Personally, I'd be interested, but I've got wingnut tendencies so that doesn't say much about the she-population at large.

It's not that i don't want to talk, it's more that I run out of things to talk about very quickly.
on a personal note I wouldnt recommend getting girlies drunk to talk them into bed if thats your plan azzaman. I have a friend (i use the term loosely) at uni, who shall remain nameless, who basically uses this as a pulling technique. one time this girl was so drunk that she weed on him during sex as she was pretty much out of it. sick. very sick.
It's probably a better idea to get myself drunk so I don't over-analyse what I'm going to say next and end up not talking at all.
I don't know any girls that are into paintball in the first place, and girls in online games are extremely rare. It's not a lack of want for conversation, just a lack of any ability to continue a conversation.
The real hard hurdle for me is the original friend-making point when I basically first meet them. The only reason I'm friends with a couple of people is because we were some of the lowest ranking people socially in Year 7 and we just sort of hung around with each other to have friends, and the way I became friends with most of the rest of my friends was by inviting them to a birthday party, and then play X sport with them to improve the friendship.
Which leads me to ask, how can girls talk so much about nothing?
