ATEN - Game Thread

From: India
To: Korea, Yi China and Japan

We propose a referendum so the Jiang people can decide on their own their future. If they really want to join the Yi China, and this is the war of liberation that you claim, then you have nothing to fear. A rejection of the referendum will mean that this is just a war of agression and India shall take certain measures to punish agression, including blockade or bombarding of military HQ and industry. India has the duty to protect liberty, democracy and peace in Asia, and it shall keep it's duty.

The Greater Korean Empire rejects your demands. The Chinese people have a long and proud. In all accounts, the Chinese people have been strongest when united under a powerful leader. To divide them into many states would be to invite disaster and dishonor.

Furthermore, the Greater Korean Empire will treat any offensive military action against itself or any of its allies as a declaration of war, whether official or not.

To: The States of California, Java, Mongolia, Apache, Haida, Kaenada, and Anchorage

The Greater Empire of Korea invites the listed nations to lower trade barriers between our nations (to 2.0). In light of recent events, a guarantee of independence shall be issued to all who accept, in place of a defensive pact.

To: The Papal States, the Amazon, and Orostratia

The Greater Korean Empire offers a trade agreement with the listed nations, lowering trade barriers and tariffs (to 1.5).

@Tani: I should have a full alliance with the Viskanya Dominion, as well as trade relations at 2.0, listed in the stats.

I think I'm going to stop the series of stories that I am making. While the first story worked like intended, the inspiration has just stopped.

That doesn't mean I'm going to stop playing or anything, nor am I going to completely stop writing. It just means I'll be shifting the focus elsewhere, more to the economics of the game and possibly historybook-esque stuff too (honestly I've never been THAT good with character writing anyway). Also, I think I have a few ideas that am going to try and reuse in the future as well, so that's good.

Orders lock on the 28th (29th for those in Australia).

As the final diplomatic action of the Vishkanya Dominion before the beginning of the year-end cycle, the Vishkanya Dominion offers Free Trade agreements to Yaqui, California, Yakama, Kaenada, Haida, Anchorage, and the Inuit Confederacy.

Anchorage, the Inuit Confederacy, Kaenada, Haida, and California agree to free trade.

Yaqui and Yakama will lower trade barriers.

All nations accept the terms offered by the Korean Empire.

Duly noted, extra revenue handed out to each party.

Having examined evidence of abuses by the Cape Commonwealth against its native citizens and at the urging of our citizenry the City of Reason is left with no option but to withdraw our protection from the colonialist government. We urge immediate integration of the majority population into the political process.

Nope! Feel free to take it if you desire, Math. The beauty of the system is you can be as involved or as hands off as you want with all the finer details. :p

To: The Papal States...

The Papal States agrees to your proposal

ooc: @tani: I presume being in Australia I can submit orders up to 11:59pm on the 29th (8:59am, 29th EST) rather than having the cut-off come unexpectedly in the day :p

well, then, im joining as the Kingdom of Cyprus. with King Aineas I Romanos ruling. we are basically there to exist, but we will try to be a Neutral Economic Power. we may involve our selves in politics or conflicts. not that we will do anything more than poke the enemy. :p

Anyway, we ask Greece if they will agree to better relations between our nations.

It is SOL, not this 'Greece' you speak of. Can you not even show proper respect to a country you wish to be friendly with?

In any case, in light of the geopolitical situation in the mediterranean, we are willing to invite Cyprus to be a member of Liberum Solis, the alliance led by the Solan Republic. It is a full defensive alliance, as well as requiring free trade be set to 2.0 with Sol. It would also mean accepting the leadership of Sol as long as you are in the alliance. Alternatively we can satisfy ourselves with a free trade agreement of 2.0.

the King of Cyprus would like to Apologize. we failed to look at the map properly...

and, what does it mean to accept you as leader? a War Leader? a leader in a sort of mini coaltion of nations?

Now then. If there are no more objections, Zulu is declaring war on the Cape Commonwealth, though we urge them to surrender before their incredibly inferior and completely unaided army is destroyed. They are men, not automatons, and their deaths would should not be celebrated. However, anyone who protects this vile institution will still be treated as an enemy. War and idealism do not mix.

Although we are no longer guaranteeing their independence we will be closely observing to ensure no abuses are carried out against the citizens of the Cape Commonwealth, whatever their ethnicity.

Abuses happen in war. Stop trying to create a reason to go to war with the Zulu, Sol's allies.

Sol offers to set trade to 2.0 with the following: Antarctica, Arnangu, Benelux, Congo, India, Olmoliqq, Poland, and Somalia.

Poland says YES

Abuses do not happen if the parties observe the laws of war. Of course Sol would not understand that concept with their use of weapons of mass destruction. Anyway, if we were after an excuse for war we would not have retracted our guarantee of the Cape's independence.

Laws of War? What laws are these? Abuses have happened in war since the beginning of time. Rape and pillaging is the traditional reward for losing a battle. Obviously most m odern armies are more disciplined these days, however soldiers are soldiers and war is war. It won't change, even with these so called 'Laws of War' you mysteriously follow.

OOC: Alt universe. Geneva and Hague were likely never created. At the very least Sol never ascribed to them, and we see no real instigating factors for other countries to ascribe to them either for the most part.

The Tet Corporation would be more than happy if countries could come and agree that raping and pillaging is awful, and countries that partake in it are awful.

Fortschritte agrees. Perhaps an international convention to discuss this topic is warranted.

OOC: Don't see why there would be no Geneva Convention or analogous treaty given the numerous points of similarity between the timelines.
