"There are other worlds than these."

Countries can now buy Tet Branches for the low, low cost of $10 a pop. Shareholders can buy these at $7 a pop.

Furthermore, we are now announcing a full fledged banking system and tier system. If you are looking for a safe place to store your excess funds, as well as see generated interest on said funds, then you cannot go wrong with Tet Banking.

To open a Bronze Account, one must deposit a minimum of $30. Bronze Accounts generate 6% interest.

If your account has $60, it will automatically be upgraded to a Silver Account, which generates 7.2% interest per year.

Finally, at $90, the account is upgraded to Gold, which will generate 8.6% interest per year.

Shareholders will receive an automatic upgrade. $30 is Silver, $60 Gold, and shareholders who have $90 in the bank will receive 10.3% interest per year through a Crimson Account.

Note: There is a $2 withdrawal fee. If your account falls below $30, your account will no longer generate interest.

We are also offering loans on a case-by-case basis. PM for details.

Couple of questions here. One, a nitpick with Jeho's alliance, Genoa agreed to join Liberum Solis. I fail to see how they can be in both alliances at once, especially seeing as how Liberum Solis recently became more centralized (aka me sending in orders for the alliance).

Also, is there any particular reason my economy shrunk relative to other nations? I understand my stature shrinking (presumably because of my reduced income because of my reduced taxes), but my economy was second place on the world stage last turn, 2 points from being first. My Infra went up, I have more resource surpluses than most nations, and my tax rate was drastically reduced. There were no recessions. Please inform me as to why my economy not only failed to grow to a commanding lead on the world stage, but managed to shrink in comparison to other powers.

IIRC Genoa agreed to arrangements with the Papal States prior to agreeing to anything with Sol. It may not have actually joined the Liberum Solis as well, although one would have to check back through the thread to confirm that (I could be getting confused with some other Italian state). Oh, and just because tani didn't say there was a recession, doesn't mean there wasn't a downturn ;)

What of my free trade offers?

TO: Germany, Yi Dynasty, Asturias, Bulgaria, France, Occitania, Swiss Empire
The City of Reason offers free trade.

Switzerland and Bulgaria shall relax trade restrictions.

Germany embraces free trade with any and all countries.

Yi, Asturias, Occitania, and France agree to free trade.

Genoa ultimately went with LS due to the financial aid involved, as well as to have a means of rivaling Venice.

The value of Industry dropped. Sol's economy is 1/3 the Secondary sector, and so it was hit hard by this.

Industrial value will go up with more Tertiary (and to a lesser extent, other fields), with the latter going up in price with more education.

Industry's monetary value has decreased, but it still remains invaluable in terms of its military use. Christos' high casualty rates can attest to that. :p

As per the treaty signed with the former Jiang ruler, control over all occupied territories in western China are to transferred to the Yi Dynasty, the rightful sovereign of China. (OOC: That should have already occurred, but its been sorted out in chat, so on with the show.)

We would like to buy 2 Tet Branches. We are shareholders in your corporation, although due to mechanical error it might say otherwise (OOC: Tani will back me up with this), so we are entitled to buying these branches at $7 each. We will buy more branches from you in the next few years most likely.

We are auctioning off four of our five Tet Bank shares, starting at $33 for all four and a minimum bid increase of $1. We will sell our stocks on the open market if we have no takers and you might get them cheaper from the open market, but it will be a lot more risky and you might be paying the same amount for 1-2 shares rather than the whole four. So take the less risker option and bid away!*

*Bidding closes 24 hours before the lock. Opponents of the Amazonian Queendom need not apply. You must bid for all four shares, the winner will receive all four shares and nothing more or less. Additional terms and conditions may apply.

Confirming I transferred 5 shares from Sol to Amazon as per part of a deal. I make booboos too. :p

That's contrary to what was said on the thread. In response to Sol's request and after the Papacy's protest the following was sent in reply. You can't just go changing diplomatic consequences post facto tani...

While Genoa is tempted by the offer (given that it would counter our historical rivals in the Venetians), it must decline so as to avoid upsetting the Papacy.

Yet by no fault of your own, you were unaware of the exchange of PMs between Sol and Genoa after the public refusal. Not all diplomacy is revealed in the thread.

Obviously, however a reversal of the nations publically stated position is quite a different kettle of fish from ordinary diplomatic dialogue which is engaged in private. Genoa might very well have agreed to join Liberum Solis in further diplomatic correspondence with you, but there has been no revocation of its previous public rejection, and so its hard to say its joined rather than said to you privately it would do that at some point. Regardless one would think as well considering it knows already that the papacy would be mightily displeased by a reversal of its public position, and seeing how its effectively ditching its sovereignty to Sol due to the changes made to Liberum Solis, that it would consider its options (ergo, see if it can get a better deal, afterall as tani noted, it consideration rests with money which is hardly a Solan monopoly here) with the papacy before making a final shift. Afterall its diplomatic relationship with the Papacy is better than its relationship with Sol and to do anything else would just be farcical on the part of the nations management considering its geostrategic location and the political context.

Genoa confirms that it has already taken finances from the Solans, and that it would have to return the invested sum of ten ducatos to Sol if it wished to renege on its alliance.

In light of being in both alliances being an unpalatable solution (for the Solan and Papal leaderships, at least; Genoa has no issue with pledging to strike against whoever throws the first stone), Genoese leaders are considering withdrawal from military alliances, reimbursement of the Solans, and establishing a non-aggression pact with both the Congress and Liberum Solis so it can enjoy a neutral status similar to what Germany possesses in the north.

It is clear that the Papal States would not like a Liberum Solis base in the middle of the Western Mediterranean, which would bode most unwell for its maritime realm, but at the same time, many Genoese citizens are not fond of sharing an alliance with the Venetians, historical enemies who Genoa would almost certainly be at war with if not for the Papal buffer between them. Genoa's strategic position in the Mediterranean is such that it feels neutrality or dual alliance membership are the best options, thus ensuring that neither the Papal States nor Sol gain a foothold at the expense of the other.

The Papal States would find it perfectly acceptable for Genoa to have defensive pacts with both the Papal States and Sol as a modus vivendi, and we don't demand Genoa recant any foreign investment whatever or align itself more closely with us. The Papacy and Genoa have friendly relations, and we have no intention of violating their sovereign rights or recanting upon our commitments or good relations with Genoa. However as we have noted, Genoa (particularly considering its proximity to us) joining the Liberum Solis alliance is unacceptable considering that the organisation is a clear proxy for the Solan State (noting in particular the recent centralising impulse where aspects of members sovereignty are ceded to Sol, something not present in the Congress of Europe) which has in recent years insisted upon a belligerent rhetorical policy towards us, and a campaign of militarisation that is troubling considering its intentions are unclear.

If Sol for whatever reason is unwilling to accept such a modus vivendi, where the legitimate interests of all parties, and in particular the sovereign agency of Genoa, are respected, than the Genoese suggestion of neutrality, honouring the current trade and non-aggression treaties that exist and with Sol signing a non-aggression pact with Genoa, is quite clearly the best option.
