Beefjack interview (Morocco hinted?)

I am pretty sure Firaxis will be using a Muslim leader to lead a civilization that is seen as Muslim. As for Tarik Ibn-Ziyad, he was a general, not a sultan or a king or anything. I also think there gonna go with a male leader since this is a less known civilization.
It will probably be between:
-Yusuf ibn Tashfin
-Ahmad Al-Mansour
-Yaqub Al-Mansour
-Ismail Ibn Sharif
-Abd al-Mu'min

Apparently when the phrase "city-state" is uttered, people's brains just start streaming out of their ears. :D

I'm now really worried that they'll be using this to screw with us in the next release of information.

I agree, they'll probably go with a male and Muslim leader for Morocco.

If we're pointing out ones that weren't city states:
Madrid (Spain)
Cusco (Incas)
Amsterdam / Rotterdam (Netherlands)
Carthage (Carthage)
The exclusion of Amsterdam and/or Rotterdam as CS was for me back then with Vanilla the big hope that the Netherlands would eventually be added as a DLC :p

You say "muslim leader" as opposed to what?

Even though she wouldn't make sense as a leader of Morocco at all because she was from Algeria.

When the word Berber was mentioned that automatically means the greater Moorish people rather than just Morocco. That's why I'm hoping that it is the Moors rather than Morocco (which could still have Moroccan warrior). The larger North African Moorish peoples have more diversity and that diversity opens more design choices.

So, Morocco controlled Algeria at one time. Anyway, Fraxis seems to love female leaders and it would give us a civ that could pick Judaism by default.

I would be shocked if Morocco was anything but Muslim as their default choice. I would eat my hat made of chocolate if I'm wrong.

Well, if they wanted that, the obvious choice would be Israel ;)

I think most people would agree that a pan-Berber civ would be the best thing. I would like the city list to have all the major cities in the Maghreb (Marrakesh, Casablanca, Algiers, Tunis etc.). However, I have a feeling this civ will only have Moroccan elements.

Kahina existed before the concepts of Morocco or Algeria, and as said before, she's a pan-Berber figure, revered as a national hero of sorts by Berbers from all north African countries.

Sort of like Alexander - who was from ancient Macedonia but came to embody Greece in the civ series.

If they wanted a pan Berber civ, they would've called them Berbers instead of Morocco(just like they have the Celts instead of Scotland or Polynesia instead of Hawaii). The fact that it's called Morocco point to it being really a Moroccan civ and not a Berber agglomeration civ. The civ may include elements of Muslim Spain, but it will most likely be focused on the Moroccan State in North Africa.
Therefore I see it as unlikely that it'll be lead by somebody who's not related to Morocco in any way other then belonging to the same ethnicity.
