I hope they can come up with a Moroccan unit that's not cavalry, because we have a lot of cavalry UUs. If they could replace the composite bowman or something else that has few UUs, that would be nice. Not saying they should do it even if it doesn't fit, but I'd rather have a composite bowman replacement than another form of knight or horseman. Besides, it'd have to be pretty spectacular to rival the Winged Hussar as a new cavalry UU.
The guy said Morocco and didn't ask for the interviewer to scrub it from the record.
Either: He was ok with it being a hint because it wasn't an official statement and didn't have details or he thought it would go completely over our heads.
Or: It was a completely innocent remark by which he was grasping for an example and was thinking Marrakesh but said Morocco instead.
By itself I would tend to take it as the latter, but with the Kasbah image, I am leading towards the former.
And with regards to the Kasbah, there is still a chance that Arabia has been reworked like France and the Kasbah belongs to them. Kasbahs really aren't isolated to just Northwest Africa.

There's no way he thought it would go over our heads. They pay attention to forums like this, and they know how we get with every little clue that comes out. They knew we weren't just going to miss that. And if "Moroccan" just slipped out when they weren't supposed to say that yet, they would have had the interview changed before it went out. This was a print interview, after all, and not a live broadcast like the Q&A. My suspicion is that he meant to say "Moroccan" because it was an authorized leak and they did it to get us talking about it.

I suppose this might be the case, since replacing the Bazaar would merely dismiss an icon and not a unit or UI model (I'm not a designer, but I assume that an icon takes significantly less human and time resources to produce compared to a model). I'm also expecting Arabia to get reworked a bit; Arabia's UA is called Trade Caravans after all... if they don't get some sort of tie in to the new trade system, I'd be very surprised.
While Kasbahs weren't stictly confined to Morocco/Tunisia/Algeria/etc., from what I've read, they seem to at least be more prevalent in North Africa than elsewhere. This, along with Morocco being name dropped, seems to point to a Morocco civilization. Then again, Arabia in its current form seems be a general pan-Islamic civilization, so if Morocco is not in, I wouldn't have any objection to Arabia having a Kasbah UI.
Time out! I somehow missed this Kasbah image. Is it in the stickied BNW Screenshots Gallery thread? I just scanned through it this morning and didn't see anything new.

Thanks! I think I'd see the resemblence more if there were palm trees on the poster version. I thought somebody else posted that that building looked like some Portuguese castle.

Personally, I, m not convinced it's a kasbah. It looks a little too unadorned to look like anything really, except a fort like structure with a courtyard, which could be anything. I think Morocco is in, but I don't think that image is a kasbah.
We expected at least 2 African Civs in the Scramble for Africa style scenario and whilst something like Kongo also made sense we have seen one of their cities added as a CS - A north African Civ makes sense in many ways since the Various Euro powers basically tried to claim all of Africa as theirs. Having one NW African and one Sth East African civ to supplement the existing Egypt and Songhai that are in the North East and Central West does make sense design wise. Map wise Songhai is a bit higher and to around the horn a little from Kongo but since not all civs are being represented it would probably be being used to represent those civs from Mali through donw to Kongo whilst the Zulu are the reps for the Eastern Side of the continent. They may add a couple of reskinned civs like Iroquois or Inca to rep various African civs or just treat them as CS's to eb conquered or "shudder" Barbarian tribes. A version of Morocco/Moors/Berber makes sense as a rep of the NW (Tunisia, Algeria & Morroco) which were definitely a much more developed civ at the time of the scramble than many of the Central African tribal nations. Depends on how broad the scramble scenario is.
Don't forget the Ottomans, Ethiopia, and a few other scenario only civs that they will include. I think they can included the Ottomans and Egypt, but I could see it going differently.
I don't think Ethiophia is going to make it because they aren't including Ethiophia as a Main Civ, and you would be automatically forced to actually OWN God and Kings for Ethiophia to be in :/ (Unless you guys aren't talking about the African scenario).

Yeah, that's a good point. They could always include Ethiopia in the same way they tacked on Spain with G&K, but since Spain was part of a DLC and Ethiopia part of a much bigger DLC (an expansion), I'm not convinced they will.
