Beer poll

I like Boddingtons a lot, but its hard to find here in Northern Ireland.

Here I mostly drink Tanglefoot, it's lovely and one of the few good ales that aren't priced out of my range.

Yuengling is my favored casual beer. Otherwise I drink Blue Moon, Guinness and Sam Adams.

When I'm at beer garden I might have Dogfishhead IPA or Radezberger. I've been incrementing with some of the Pilsner's and they're pretty good too.

Foulest beer I ever had was Port.

Bud light is my college life beer.

Dogfish head 90 minute IPA is my favorite beer.

1) A König Ludwig Weissbier of some sort. Don't know which one, because it's just listed as Konig Ludwig wherever I've seen it over here.
2) Kronenbourg White.
3) Newcastle Brown Ale.

And for the record, regular Coors isn't so bad. It's just Coors Light that's garbage.

You drink dog ale, cool.

just northeners trying to prove they are "hard" and better then southeners.

we are, we don't have to proove it

1) Real Guinness, e.g. not the non-refrigerated slow ship to the US crap we get here.

2) Bass Ale on tap when the bar sells enough for it to not to go stale.

3) Sam Adams for everyday drinking available from any supermarket, or any of the decent microbrewery beers.

When I was in college, the frat had an old coke machine in the hidden bar in the basement (from back in the days when the drinking age was 21). You entered through the side of a closet. But instead of cokes, it sold beer for 25 cents each.

Funny story: When I was in California last year, I think Long Beach, I was at some restaurant or other and asked the waitress to recommend a beer for me (I like to do this when I travel)

She recommended what I thought was Rocktoberfest.. which was in fact Sam Adams Octoberfest.. I had no idea, but I liked it so much, that I'd order it here and there throughout the rest of my trip..

"One pint of Rocktoberfest please!"

I didn't realize my mistake until after I returned to Canada. I thought Rocktoberfest was some sort of a local Californian brew

(not necessarily by order of perference)

Dogfishhead 90 min IPA
Guinness
First two are pretty consistent favs, but my third varies quite a bit. Could be Abita, Sierra Nevada, my brother's home brew, Magic Hat or anything else, really. I'm quite found of Belgian Whites at time so a Harpoon UFO

I also have some mead in the fridge that's pretty nice.

1. Westvleteren 12. I'm also lucky enough to have had a glass of this.
2. Rochefort 10. Very nearly as good and available at more than one location.
3. Achel Bruin. Not as complex as the other two, but there's something about it...

The only problem is it's almost impossible to find those available on a night out in North America. So in that case I usually end up trying something local. Which usually is decent, but the quality can vary quite a bit. Had a nice scotch ale not too long ago. I prefer those that are not particularly hoppy.

Average ABV: 9.83%. But, I usually only have one. It's not really worth having high quality, expensive beer once you've had too many to appreciate them.

Any recommendations on mead that's relatively widely available? I was disappointed by the local one I tried here awhile back, but I don't really know which ones are good.

I'm quite a conservative beer drinker. I usually stick to what I'm used to and it's mostly pretty mainstream. Instead of listing some fancy stuff I get to drink once or twice a year at a Belgian restaurant or something, I'll just list the beers I most enjoy on a regular basis.

1.) Budweiser - The Czech one of course.

2.) Früh Kölsch - Ubiquitous in and around Cologne. Probably more obscure in the rest of Germany and the world.

3.) Can't decide. This one's a tie between at least five beers.

From my side of the timezones, my sympathies, and good luck with the 2:30 relapse that always seem to occur.

Kein Bier vor Vier !
Spoiler :
No beer before four !

Simple rule. Rarely broke it.

the one which gets me drunk is my fave.

That would be this:

faxe_10.jpg

It has 10% alcohol and comes in a 1 litre can. Doesn't actually taste that bad either except for the corn.

You're thinking of Watney's Red Barrel, likened to making love in a punt.

Beer in England

1. Westvleteren 12. I'm also lucky enough to have had a glass of this.

:high5:

The fact that it is so hard to get makes it even more worth it. It is always nice, when discussing beer, to find someone else who has had a Westvleteren 12.

Now you've made me google it.
I'll make it ym mission to try this. I can only pray I won't be disappointed by the hype.
