Best In-Game Music?

True.

Lots of choices though. First one that comes to mind was the first Age of Wonders game. Europa Universalis III has good music too but there's only 45 minutes of it and considering each game potentially lasts for like 30 hours, my girlfriend wasn't too happy when she heard "Conquistador" for the 25th time in two days.

Ummm... Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Mega Man 2, Chrono Trigger... There is no end to this.

Fourth Age Total War mod for R:TW has some awesomesauce music.

Oh yes, the Command and Conquer series has quite a bit of good music. Hell March, baby!

I may be biased, but I of course find Sonic music in general pretty awesome(hence it's large contribution to my library), especially the final boss music. The only main game final boss tune I didn't really like was Solaris Phase 2(kind of awesome at parts, but it just can't compare to Open Your Heart, Live and Learn, What I'm Made Of, I Am(All of Me), With Me, or Perfect Dark Gaia), and Seven Rings in Hand(again, awesome at parts, but it just can't compare in epicness).

Zelda and Jak and Daxter have fairly good soundtracks as well...

And pretty much all the awesome strategy games do of course! Nothing makes a siege more interesting than bloody, brutal and tense music! Rome: Total War's battles are worth fighting manually simply for the music alone.

The Call of Duty games have some pretty epic tracks, and I'll back up the Total War vote.

To add to that - the Battlefield theme. That is all.

Legends of Revolution mod for Civ4,

GTA:SA,

Civ4: colonization

Civ2 music was pure win.

1866 mod for Mount & Blade also has great music. :D

Mystic Quest did have some pretty hard core music, basically 16-bits power metal. Awesome stuff, thanks for reminding me.

Another one for me, while everyone talks about various zelda themes, I always found one of the underrated or rarely mentioned ones was the Dark World overworld theme from A Link to the Past

PS: I,ve been playing Deus Ex recently, and the music is quite moody. I like it. A bit like watching Blade Runner. Vangelis' work for that soundtrack was great.
