First Contact. Dark, slick, direct and to the point. However, it pissed me off to see them ruin the whole Borg concept with a queen. The whole frightening thing about them was that they were so PC, governed by consensus and entirely impersonal.

Wrath gets a close second, especially for truimphs of Kirk overacting, e.g., the bit where he shouts "Khan! Khan!" into the communicator from the planet.

Edit: I see Sh3kel got to my point first.

Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

(I used to have that as my error message.)

First Contact. It's great and it doesn't involve the crew from the original series! Yeah! :goodjob:

However, I have to say I can't stand time travels anymore, everytime they do it, specially in the series, something illogical happens.
Since I'm not that much of a treker, can anyone answer me this:
If it is so easy to travel through time, shouldn't the borgs do it, but from their own home planet, alert their ancestors, and make the borg domination of earth a fact? Why don't they do it?
Sorry for my ignorance! :D

Because the Borg are always look to add the most technologically advanced tech to their collective. If they assimilated Earth in the past they would be sacrificing a lot of advanced technology.
The only reason they travelled back in time in First Contact was because the Federation destoyed one of their ships making them a threat at that moment in time, the best way to destroy this threat was to stop the humans becoming a threat....if you know what I mean;)

That makes some sense, but since the human kind are still a menace to the borgs after the time travel, they should go back in time again until the threat is no more! Doesn't that make sense?

The Borg do not really have a sense of urgency so they will try again sometoime but they were a bit busy with Species 8472 and with unimatrix 0, they also like to consider humans insignificant so wasting an ymore effort would contradict this.

Wrath of Khan is the best overall but First Contact is a close second, but Generations is definitely not the best. All the movies are great and it has to be one of the best Movie series ever. It has kept up a high standard over NINE films. The only low points could be the Motion Picture and Final Frontier but they are still pretty nice

MP: Long winded....not much action. Return of Kirk however.
ST2: Some action and of course...KHAN!!!!!! Death of Spock was a little hard to swallow...
ST3: A little hand to hand action...but not a lot of ship stuff until the end. and then it was a crippled ship vs. a scout ship. But the death of the Enterprise was also a heart tugger.
ST4: More lighthearted...our heroes in the past...no real combat, but funny and good none the less.
ST5: Not popular due to the deep religious roots (I assume) Plot kind of crappy.....little space action....not too good. Of course....Kirk: "What does God need with a Starship?" Is a classic.
ST6: Peace with the Klingons. Interesting concept. Both ship and land combat. Evil plots and good plots. Well rounded movie with our heroes names cleared.
ST7: Definitally the most symbolic of them all. The death of Kirk...and the end of space travel for the original crew. The first movie with the TNG crew. Had elements of both shows wrapped into one movie. And of course Kirk coming back from the dead to save the galaxy with Picard one more time....his death scene almost brings a tear to my eye. He died saving the Enterprise B and all the refugges....then he dies saving the Verdian system, Millions of people on Verdian 4 (or 5), the Enterprise D crew.

Then you have the monumental crash of the Enterprise D. And the rummanging of the ship. Looking for spot for Data....Picard for his book. Rikers classic line. "...I plan to live forever..."
ST8: Another good one with the Borg incrussion into the past. Lots of space action. And some land action. First contact with the Vulcans was momenutal, as well was the first Warp flight.....
ST9: To me a bland movie (al though I've only seen it once) Played out more like a show than a movie....got some deep background into the Baku people...and a new enemy...the Son'a. The overall plan of Starfleet seemed to be an evil one at that....

Well it's so difficult to choose...

But First contact is a good movie for the non-treker... but it just doesn't fit with the borg of the serie that I can't say it's the best.

Khan is just god dam good. But it lack some of the greatest humor that made TOS sucg a good show. Never the less that thing in the hear haunted my childhood's nightmares...

So the best is The Undiscovered Country becose it's the last with the TOS crew, it funny and full of good plot which is what I like the most about ST especially in DS9, but that's another topic...

"Wrath of Khan," followed closely by "Undiscovered Country."

Ricardo Montalban is deliciously over-the-top as Khan. "I will leave you... as you left her... at the center of a dead planet. Buried alive... BURIED ALIVE!"

Christopher Plummer comes in a very close second with General Chang. "CRY HAVOC! And let slip the dogs of war!"

V'Ger is stupid, Sybok is insulting ("God" is worse), The Borg Queen is boring (although Picard-as-Ahab is intriguing), and the Son'a are plain silly. They just can't compare.

My list:

1. The Undiscovered Country :yeah:

1.a) The Voyage Home (I just love that one. The scene in the factory with Scotty and the computer: "Computer... Computer" ... "Here take this.."(mouse) "Oh thanks, ... Computer..."..."Here is the keyboard"..."Keyboard?? How backward!" ...
or Chekov on the aircraft carrier, or Sulu in the helicopter...)

2. First Contact

3. The Wrath of Khan

4. Insurrection (gotta love the Enterprise-E)

5. Generations (great Kirk but not so convincing Picard)

6. The Search for Spock

7. The Motion Picture

8. The Final Frontier

:D

I think the movies with an even index (2, 4, 6, 8) were better than those with an odd index.
Insurrection proved that once more. :p

Everyone who voted for anything other than Wrath of Khan, please present yourselves at your earliest possible convienence for sterilisation and lobotomy.

The person who voted for Voyage Home? Report for execution. Whales?! IN SPACE?! :vomit: How PC can you get?

My list, in order from favorite to least favorite:

1) First Contact: Very tough choice between this and Khan, but I'd say this comes out on top. Damn fine film.

2) KHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!: Enough said

3) Undiscovered Country

4) Generations

5) The Voyage Home: Sure it was corny and kinda lame, but a damn funny movie with some very memorable lines.

6) The Search for Spock "I.....have had...........enough....of...YOU!!"

7) Insurrection: A 2-hour TNG episode, and a mediocre one at that.

8) The Motion Picture: Kind of a cool premise, with the return of the voyager probe, but boring.

9) The Final Frontier: Basically all around sucked. The only redeeming factor is that Kirk & Spock kill God.

You realize of course that in this case the lobotomy would be redundant...

I too vote for Wrath of Khan.
