What TV Shows are you watching? ι', a perfect I.

Which seasons would you suggest that I watch?
Only have seen some episodes here and there (like the virtual world for old people, and afaik a recent-ish one about two astronauts taking breaks using mechanical copies on Earth).

If you remember a certain porcine accusation directed against a former British Prime Minister, you might enjoy the very first episode.

Seems like a simpler time now…

Rewatching TLoU S1 as foreplay to TLoU S2.*

•Inbetween all the garbage that gf is watching on linear TV.

Oh ha. That episode was insane!

K - Wednesday is a really very good show. Still might not be your cuppa but I was surprised that it hooked me. It is worth it for Thing alone. Ortega is fantastic

Those are 'San Junipero' and 'Beyond The Sea' - both great.

S2 'Be Right Back''
S2 'White Bear'
S3 'Hated In The Nation'
S4 'USS Callister'
S6 'Joan Is Awful'

I've watched 3 from the new season; 'Common People', 'Eulogy' and the sequel episode to 'USS Callister'. 'Eulogy' is the standout imo.

I went a bit off Black Mirror a while ago, I think the last one I saw was Bandersnatch!

S3E3 Shut Up and Dance I remember as being quite good.

You watched 'Hated In The Nation', did you? ;)
Yes. But I can't say I liked it that much :S
White Bear was ok, although the premise is very unrealistic:
Spoiler :
that an actual court would rule that the person is to be tormented like this indefinitely.

San Junipero remains by far the best of the episodes I have watched.

I just heard the liberals won.

I just heard the liberals won.

Yep! It's going to be the Mark Carney show for a while up here, it's just not clear yet if it'll be a majority government or not

edit: I couldn't find a good thread to write an update, so I'll just put it here. Assume this is a documentary I watched on TV about Canadian politics

The Liberals will form a minority government with 169 out of 343 seats. Had they gotten 172 or more seats that would have been more than half of all the seats, and that would have been a majority. And majorities are nice because then you can pass whatever bills you want, assuming the Senate and Queen/King/Governor General all like them and it's nothing that's actually illegal as per the constitution act.

To get stuff done the Liberals will need 3 votes from somewhere else. The two parties that will work with them on this are the slightly more left leaning NDP and the Bloc Quebecois. Most of the time that partnership will probably come from the NDP camp, they have 7 seats so that's more than enough votes to push the required votes for any bill to and over 172.

The NDP was also a junior partner last time around - they used these dynamics to push through a federal dental care plan and other goodies that's made our social safety net stronger. The NDP basically only agreed to support the Liberals as a junior partner if they passed some of their bills as well, in the end really benefitting Canadians. This is one way in which a minority government can be good for Canadians. It can keep the governing party in check a bit as well.

I predict that the Liberals will probably act as though they have a majority, more or less, at first. They have a mandate and will have NDP support to push through whatever is needed to protect the country and pivot our economy and political alignments. The BQ will probably support them on many bills as well, but who the hell knows. The 1 Green vote doesn't really matter in terms of the math, but it's good to have that thrown in there for good measure.

Buying a new iPhone has granted me 3 months of Apple TV! Slow Horses is just an amazingly good show. It grabbed me from the start and kept me glued. Starting Season 4 now.

Yep, Slow Horses is great!

Watching HBOs The Outsider with Ben Mendelsohn. Crime mystery series with a touch of the supernatural.

Really good. I've seen it twice now.

Adolescence on Netflix with Stephen Graham. Some buzz about this show not long ago, but I didn't get a chance to see it until recently and binged right through this 4-episode limited series. Each epi is about an hour. Very very good. A young boy is accused of murdering a classmate. Each episode is a self-contained, single-camera, continuous-shot snapshot (in other words, real-time) at different points following the day after the murder occurred, including the arrest-booking-interview, with the final episode taking place around 13 months after the murder. This is primarily a psychological drama rather than a typical police/mystery show. All episodes are excellent, well-produced, and well-choreographed, considering the single camera. The mystery here is more the "why" not the "who".

(The theme should be fairly clear and goes straight to the title)

Episode 3 is the standout one for me. It's basically the only episode set in one location - an independent psychologist's interview. I was not familiar with the actress playing the psychologist, but she was excellent. However, the real standout is the boy, who at the time of filming appears around the same age as the character, early teens. Amazing performance that will get awards. Remember the name Owen Cooper.

Recommend. Besides Graham, yall might recognize two GOT actors, one of which is Faye Marsay, who I've seen in quite a few other things. (she played the rival to Arya at that assassin's temple in Braavos)

Oh, and subtitles may be required. The yorkish/northern accents can be difficult.

"Who Saw the Peacock Dance in the Jungle" a Japanese murder mystery series on Netflix. I'm 7 of 10 episodes in and it is quite good with a slowly unfolding plot about a series of murders and other foul deeds set in modern Japan. Spoken Japanese with English subtitles.
