I like the dueling flash mob idea. I'm going with that.

President of the United States of course.

Doesn't mention that in the thread title.

Anyway, President of the US or President of the Rotary Club, makes no difference: slapsies is the way to go.

A test combining strategic thinking with lightning fast reactions.

The future beckons.

We need to move away from the first past the post plurality voting system. We ought to use Range Voting for the president, and use reweighted range voting to select legislators from multimember districts. Ballot access should require submitting an essay explaining the candidate's platform and qualifications, perhaps accompanies by a sworn affidavit so that prevarication becomes criminal perjury. These should be made public in time for vetting, and available for voters to review in the ballot booth.

I would quite like to see the candidates compete against each other on game shows, but who wins according to the rules of the game should not legally determine who wins the office. I'd like to see the candidates compete against each other on both Jeopardy (to show their knowledge) and Family Feud (to show how familiar they are with the concerns of the citizens polled). I really don't see any value in an candidate version of Wheel of Fortune.

There should be more debates in general, including some without any moderators.

Nothing should be determined by physical combat.

Mortal Kombat 2012 presidential edition. I can see it now. Featuring Mitt Romney with the ability to morph into any political position at will as Shang Tsung. His arch-nemesis Barack Obama as Liu Kang. Elder Statesman Bill Clinton as Raiden and Zombie Reagan playing the part of Shao Khan.

I like the Jeopardy idea. America would do a lot better with an AI as its president.

Duels. One with swords, one with 19th century handguns, the last with weapon of choice. Best 2 out of 3.

Or Pokemon match could work, too.

Nope.
Put the contestants in a locked, darkened clothes closet.
Arm each with a hand grenade (pins already pulled, lever safety is all that keeps it from going boom).

I would go with multiple political parties, publicly financed elections, decided by popular voting, and with longer terms. I find that politicians are too preoccupied with worrying about reelection as soon as they step into office instead of what is actually needed.
