Biphasic Sleep?

Back in high school there were times when I'd get on schedules of sleeping something like 2-7 AM, then going to school, and then sleeping again from something like 4-7 PM. It actually worked out fairly well in terms of being adequately energetic, although it was only during the week - back to monophasic sleep on the weekends, since I didn't have to get up at 7 AM then.

If the alternative is only getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night, I'd say it's almost certainly going to be better than that.

And I second GhostWriter16's question... what's so fantastic about waking up from 3-4 AM? I have nothing against being up at that hour, there's just rarely something that I would wake up for then.

Nine hours of sleep? I thought we (Teens) were the only ones who needed that much!:p

Not like I get nine very often anyways. More like 6-7 on school days. We start at 7:20

If that schedule includes weekends off, then sign me up!

edit: Referring to Cheezy's post in the above. I left CFC up while I went and got dinner.

7:20 AM is way too early for school to start. I thought 7:50 was pretty bad. I don't know why they think high schoolers want to get up early - at least at most colleges it's possible to avoid early classes like the plague if you aren't a science major.

I think there are a couple of reasons they do it.

First of all, there's only so many busses, so either somebody has to go in freakishly early or freakishly late (In my district the high schoolers go in at 7:20 and the Elementary go in at like 8:30 or 9:00 depending on the school) and I don't know that a school schedule from 10-5 is appealing to most people (Well, to me:p)

Secondly, if you get off early (High schoolers get off at 2:04 in my district, and seniors can get off even earlier if they want depending on how many credits they need) you can get a job more easily.

And lastly, but I think most important, adults would rather not get their elementary schoolers to school at 7:20, and they're the ones who get to vote:p

All that said, I agree with you. I have no desire to be in school that early and wish sincerely that I didn't have too:p

Even 7:50 is too early. I'd really like to be able to sleep until at least 7 o'clock in the morning, preferably 8:)

I think that the best solution for something like this is to sleep ALL THE TIME when you are home.
Having 2 jobs means that your life will be only work and sleep. The faster you accept that, the more rested you will be.
