I am shocked at the message from Rome... I refuse to believe that Rome and the Vatican would forsake their own followers. You have let down millions of loyal Catholic followers with your new treaty with France and for what? Money from Paris. Does Milan or other faithful Catholic nations not give you enough in tithing or donations to support the Vatican and our faith? Milan just recently sent a purse of 1,000 gold to Rome and I know others have followed our example.
Instead of accepting our generous contributions to the Church, you have given France power over Italy and the Catholic Church. It is now in my understanding that the Pope has betrayed God by selling His kingdom to a mortal King.
Genoa was freed from French rule and Milan will continue to fight until Italy is free from French influence and control. We beseech the Pope to reconsider their stance and pray to the Lord for guidance in these troubling times. Rest assured, Milan will never lay down her arms we will wage a bloody war with France until France drops their claims to the Church and returns it to its rightful owner, the Holy Father and His Son.
