It is an expansion of Japanese territory and will add to your economy directly over time. It is similar to how Egypt was added to the Ottoman holdings.

From the Rules said:
Colonies
Sometimes a player will want to establish a colony on foreign soil. Colonies are more complicated than trading forts and more limited in where they can be established. For the most part two general rules apply to founding a colony:
1. Colonies can only be established in areas of where the climate is not too dissimilar from that of the mother nation
2. There cannot be an existing civilization of some substance and sophistication that already has control of that area.

In practical terms this means that most of the “known” areas of the map cannot be colonized. I suspect that there are some areas that cannot be seen at the start that will be suitable once they are discovered. I will let players know if they attempt to colonize an area that cannot be. Once a colony is set up it will have stats.

Keep in mind that 16th C colonies were not like 19th C colonies. Trading forts and enclaves can be set up where colonies cannot.

Ah, thank you.

None that I am aware of. You should check with Abaddon. Abby may be difficult to reach, so I suggest pming/emailing him.

Korea has not really be featured in the updates, so I can't tell you much. Just read the rules and how to submit orders and have fun. If there aren't stats for you as a player nation, I will try to get them up tonight.

Hey bird, many apologies if you've already said this, but when are orders due?

I haven't. I think I will do like last time: set up a deadline for some "sparkly" benefit and then take the orders as they come. I'll start writing when I'm ready and if you wait too long you get left out.

OOC: Bird, I never got the 1000 gold sparky benefit ;)

To His Holiness, Gregory, Vicarius Christi
From: Your Most Devoted Child, Charles, Emperor

We desire to request of you, Your Holiness, that you allow us the honor of sponsoring an ecumenical council to be held under your aegis in Rome. For doubtless you have heard how we, burning with the zeal for the gospel, and following the example set before us by Constantine, have held in our own lands a synod in order to root out the multitude of thistles of ignorance and thorns of vice which had so previously beset it.

But though our zeal is exceedingly great, so that no man in Christendom might claim greater devotion to the church, yet we recognize ourselves that our actions are insufficient. For we are but the guard dog over the flocks, able to bark to warn of danger and to chastise the flock, but unable to lead it except where the shepherd desires. Thus it is supremely necessary that you, following the mandate given to Peter, the first bishop of Rome, by Jesus, must needs to feed my sheep, that is the Church of Christ.

Therefore, where your lambs have wandered astray into the pastures of schism and vice, you must with loving voice call them back into the pastures of godliness. And if you hold an ecumenical council, know that we will attend with all our cardinals, bishops, lawyers and theologians, so that all men would say whereas Caesar marched with legions of soldiers into Gaul under Mars, the god of War, Charles has marched with legions of priests into Rome under Christ, the Prince of Peace.

We hope that these words delight you, knowing that there is one in France who knows no mother other than the Church. Pray for us, that we might reign in justice and peace. Farewell.

FROM: Gregory, Servant of the Servants of God
TO: Charles, Blessed Emperor of Holy France, Most Cherished Child of God

France, yea, all of Christendom rejoices at the Pious and Just rule of Charles, an Emperor both Wise and Merciful.

Indeed, our own heart sings, for our souls are ever in one accord. The souls of the faithful cry out for guidance, and, as a house divided against itself cannot stand, so too must the Body of Christ be of one mind. Therefore we do grant thy request and convene in two years time a Great Council in Rome, wherein the great matters facing the Church may be met by a united body. You of course shall have a place of honor at the proceedings.

And now let us be in constant prayer. Where there is division, by the power of God let there be unity. Where there is injury, by the love of God, let there be healing. Where there are sinners, by the grace of God, let there be redemption. In the name of the Father, and the Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

TO: Il Papa Gregory, Bishop of Roma
FROM: Ferdinand II, King of all Spain, Even More Cherished Child of God

Father it is with my utmost regret that I must show contempt towards Charles for his exclusion of myself from such a council. If, by your most serene consent, I should be welcomed into the arms of the faithful on this eve in two years it would mean the world to me. Have I not given to the church? Has my zealousness been overlooked by your holiness? I cannot bring the riches of the Valois I certainly bring the savages to the light of our Lord.

FROM: Gregory, Servant of the Servants of God
TO: Ferdinand, the Second of that Name, Most Catholic King of All Spain, Evangelist to the Western Savages

We are blessed by your most fervent and pious desire to join us in our ecumenical council in Rome. Being, as it is, an ecumenical council, the bishops and archbishops of Spain are called to council, and their temporal sovereign may, of course, accompany them. I am sure it was never Charles' intention to exclude you.

We are in constantly on our knees in prayer for your efforts in the heathen lands in the West, for you stand as an example to all Christendom for the work you do for the Body of Christ. Amen.

Rip their hearts out! Offer their Blood to the gods!

Joining as Korea. Any treaties I should know about?
I do not have a "player nation" tab for Korea and will have to create it from scratch. I did not get home from work until 8:30 tonight and with the other catching up I cannot get it done tonight. I will try for tomorrow. In any case you can figure you will have about 4000 gold to spend.

Anybody have any faction suggestions for Korea?

@Arian you should be good to go.

Contemplating Ireland, any wars or negative diplomacy I should know of??

I believe Ireland is slowly falling apart as England slowly takes it over.
From: Sunni Ali, King of Songhai
To: King Joao II of Portugal and King James IV of Scotland

I am deeply interested in discovering the secret of the magnificent harquebus so readily employed by your people. If either of you show kindness and teach the craftsmen of my great nation the art of making this weapon I can promise that there will be a fitting reward of gold and other lavish gifts in return.

Just reposting incase Matt0088 and Milarqui missed it.

TO: Sunni Ali, King of Songhai
FROM: Fernando II, King of all Spain, Child in the Arms of Christ

The wealth of your kingdom floods the halls of my court with gossip. I am in the business to setup a trading fort on the shores of your mighty land and open Songhai to the merchants of Spain. Will you accept my request?

Venice declares that the further imprisonment of Queen Beatrix of Hungary in the city is contrary to the interests of the Most Serene Republic, and therefore she will be forcibly released by the forces of the Republic if she is not presented by her captors before the Signoria within a month of this proclamation. If she is not presented before the Signoria unharmed as described, the Republic will take action against Janos Corvinus, whose legitimacy is quite clearly doubtful and under discussion by the Signoria at present. We require an answer from Janos Corvinus to affirm his servants' cooperation on this issue, and we have no doubt that we shall receive it.

We also congratulate Alfonso, the King of Naples, on his succession to the throne.

Queen Beatrix of Hungary will be presented before your Highness within a week of your receiving this letter. She, however, has not been imprisoned and maltreated, as some seem to have told you. You will find her to be in best of conditions.

Janos Corvinus
