EQ, can I make one addition to my orders, if it's not too late? That would be...

Mr. E sends out scouts to track down the mysterious traveler who recently provided medical aid and failed to save our reactor. The scouts will attempt to locate the traveler and offer him 500 caps to help locate any previous prototype Mr. models, such as Mr. A - Mr. D (if such prototypes exist) to help him figure out his true purpose on this world and why he was created.

i'd like to join also, id say sorry to nuka for ruining his plans for the update to be fresh on the next page

(also sorry to EQ for having to add me to the update on such short notice, but Thomas really wanted me to join before the update)

Faction Name: The Dademen, The Dragon Lords
Leader Name: Aygon Targyarian
Leader Trait: Enigmatic
Starting Location: Dadeland Station, Miami
Leader Background: Aygon was born to the largest Dademen Family, tribe, and de facto leaders of the entire Dademen group, despite the general disunity and independence of the other Dademen Families. Aygon was a strong and bright child, always an idealist, he wished to formally unite the Dademen under one ruler, himself. However, Aygon, during one of his father's council meetings, offended his father and the other families, by claiming that the other families should bow and be subservient to the Targyarians, who were clearly the strongest of the Dademen. Aygon was challenged to a ritual duel of honor, however when his opponent was revealed to be his brother, Aygon refused to fight, and was banished and disgraced.
Aygon begun to wander the wastes, until he came across a nets of giant eggs. Aygon waited for the mother to return to her nest for days, yet she never came. Aygon adopted the eggs himself, and after a few months they hatched into baby Dragons. Aygon begun to train and eventually domesticated the dragons, and after a few years, he returned to Dadeland Station, not as the disgraced son of the Targyarians, but as a conquer. Uniting the Dademen families under his rule. The age of the Dragon Lords have Begun
Origins: Survivors
Traits: Barbaric
Capital Type: Urban Ruin
Background: The Dademen originally survived in the wasteland in the ruins and outskirts of Miami, alongside US1, they scavenged for supplies and food until turning the parks of Pinecrest into makeshift farms. However, as Miami grew more and more dangerous the early Dademen were forced to retreat to the safety of Dadeland Station, where they currently reside, and have for a few generations, leaving to very rarely only to scavenge, hunt, or in even rarer cases to attack an unknowing passerby, The Dademen are very territorial and it is not uncommon to see two families of Dademen fighting for any reason, but in the event of a greater threat, which is often due to the horrors of Miami, the Dademen very easily put their differences aside to defend their home. This has lead to a very brutal and barbaric lifestyle for teh Dademen. However the return of Aygon and his Dragons will spell a new chapter for the Dademen.

@bestshot: We'll see.

@Terran Emperor: No problem, we can add you in now, and I sense much thomas in your faction. Just as a warning, starting in Miami is an invitation to constant, unending pain, death, and madness.

Wellll... Dadeland Station isn't Miami Proper. (Also, I did warn him about the ENTITY in MIAMI)

Every time somebody posts I get very, very excited. Then I check the thread and see my excitement was for naught.

Update 43: January – June, 2261
Steel Ascending

Inter-Faction Reports

ATOM UNION FACES INVASION. Far beyond the usual threats of raiders in the Georgia Badlands, the Steelmen have rebounded handily from their defeat at the hands of the Georgia Reclamation District. Unifying with the local successor gang of the Empire of America, known as the Spartans, they have created a formidable force. The bolstered Steelmen swept into the Atom Union and attacked the newly added town of Dawson. The town’s defenses were woefully inadequate to deal with an attack of this size and magnitude. Howitzers and other advanced weapons made short work of Dawson’s defenses and defenders, causing heavy casualties before a single Steelman was even shot down. The battle proved to be fairly one-sided and the defenders were overwhelmed, throwing the rest of the Union into a state of panic. The entire town was razed and destroyed, as the Steelmen reveled in the ruins, and everyone in the region is concerned about what they may do next.

BATTLES COME TO AN END IN JACKSONVILLE. The bitter war between the New Age Corporation and the Sunshine Imperium in the ruins of Jacksonville has finally come to an end. Three intense battles were fought through the ruins and it seemed for a moment as though the war would continue. The first battle was a combined assault by the Sunshine Kingdom and the Sunshine Trading League to retake Fort Jacksonville. The battle was a brutal fight of attrition, with a significant advantage for the defenders, holed up behind fortifications. Eventually the sheer numbers of the Imperium overcame the defense, and the town was taken with very few survivors. Further north, a group of warriors from the Sunshine Kingdom were meant to link up with a force known as the Green Bear Corps for a coordinated attack on the New Age headquarters. Unfortunately the Green Bear Corps wandered into a deathclaw nest and were ambushed by Talon Company. They fled the field, leaving the Sunshine Kingdom to attack the New Age Corporation alone. The attack nearly turned into complete disaster, but eventually through ingenuity and tactics, the Kingdom defeated the Corporation on their home turf, sending their leadership fleeing with everything they could carry. The New Age Corporation continues to operate caravans throughout Alabama and Georgia, and reports indicate they still have some backing from other trade families in the ongoing embargo against the Sunshine Imperium.

BUYOUTS LEAD TO NEW ORDER IN ORLANDO. The balance of power in the central Sunshine Wasteland has been altered dramatically. The Universal Reclamation Project has evolved into a much more significant force, now known as the Grand City of Orlando. The dominoes began falling when Jacksonia agreed to sell the ownership of Terminus to the URP, turning over control of the town to them, while still retaining basing rights. The Jacksonian government has maintained a significant garrison in Terminus, and continues to operate police forces in the town. The Orlando Sheriff’s Office has since similarly opened a branch there, and many now joke that Terminus could be the most policed town in the region. The Sunshine Kingdom sold Dragonville next to the URP, spurring a final set of negotiations between Universe City and Edgewood. Ultimately a deal was worked out in which the Universal Reclamation Project and Edgewood Militia were merged into a single entity, the new Grand City of Orlando. The newly merged factions offers to be a substantial force of power in the region, and many wonder what role it will play, sandwiched between the three largest factions in the area.

RAILROADS UNITE THE SUNSHINE WASTELAND. A collaborative project between the New Gulf Commonwealth, the Grand City of Orlando, Jacksonia, and the Sunshine Construction Union has led to new milestones for the railroads. The Trans-Jacksonian railroad has been expanded beyond Universe City and up to Leesburg through Ocoee. It travels across difficult terrain, but the best engineers in the wasteland have assured the public as to the route’s security. From Leesburg the new route goes to Ocala and then to the famed frontier town of Newberry, offering an easy route of travel for migrants lacking funds and looking for protection. Towards the east, the Royal Sunshine Railroad has begun operating regularly, with the construction of new train stations, offering a daily service between Saint Augustine and Nasacity. They have claimed plans are in order to extend the railroad to Terminus, but so far little progress has been made on such a development.

NEW REPUBLIC EMERGES IN NORTHERN GEORGIA. A series of new negotiations between the Workers’ Republic of the Reclamation, the Alliance of Free Georgia, and the independent town of Warren have resulted in the creation of a new power in northern Georgia. Mutual fears about the influence of the Enclave and the Georgia Reclamation District have helped to create an opportunity for all three groups. The negotiations have led to the formation of a united Reclaimed Free Republic, with the former Workers’ Republic at the head of the new organizational body. What began as a defensive alliance has now turned into a significantly stronger force, though many believe that new developments will emerge as the various factions within the new republic debate and arrange new structures for governance.

Faction Reports

Atom Union
Spoiler :

The Atom Union has faced grievous tragedy as war has descended upon their lands. It seems that the nearby Spartans and Steelmen united in arms to bring about destruction and death to the people of the Union. Despite the best efforts of localized patrols and defenses, the Steelmen attacked the town of Dawson in full force and without any warning. The only sign that a battle was about to begin was the screech of artillery shells as they crashed into the walls, tearing them apart. The rest of the attacked swooped in violently and the town’s defense and militia were badly outgunned and outnumbered. The fighting was vicious, and a last stand was made around the two power armored soldiers who led the defense. They eventually fell to sustained fire, and the community was burned. The few survivors were taken as slaves, and the rampaging horde encamped in the rubble.

Commissioner’s Challenge: We are at war! The Steelmen have attacked us with better organization and force than we have ever seen before with raiders. Our council is in a panic on how to deal with the incursion. Some suggest we do our best to negotiate and come up with any terms we can. Others believe we should fight to the last, and prepare as many defenses as we possibly. How do we respond to the invasion that now threatens our people?

The Dademen
The Dademen originally survived in the wasteland in the ruins and outskirts of Miami, alongside US1, they scavenged for supplies and food until turning the parks of Pinecrest into makeshift farms. However, as Miami grew more and more dangerous the ancestors were forced to retreat to the relative safety of Dadeland Station, where they have resided for generations, leaving to very rarely only to scavenge, hunt, or in even rarer cases to attack an unknowing passerby. The Dademen are very territorial and it is not uncommon to see two families fighting for any or all reasons. In the event of a greater threat, which is often due to the horrors of Miami, they very easily put their differences aside to defend their home. This has led to a very brutal and barbaric lifestyle for the Dademen. Aygon was born to the largest Dademen Family who were de facto leaders of the entire group, despite the general disunity and independence of the other families. Aygon was a strong and bright child, wishing to formally unite the Dademen under one ruler. During one of his father's council meetings, he offended his father and the other families, by claiming that the other families should bow and be subservient to the Targyarians, who were clearly the strongest. The return of Aygon and his Dragons will spell a new chapter for the Dademen.

Dragon Lord’s Challenge:
This new era for our people could mean a new era for our treatment of migrants and refugees. Recently, larger numbers of people have been crossing over the great sea from the south in makeshift rafts of all types, speaking tattered Spanish similar to what many of our own speak. They seek a place to live and we could offer them that. How do we respond to the growing tides of immigrants from the south?
Florida Reclamation District
Spoiler :

The Florida Reclamation District undertook its first solo military operation as the year began. They sought to eliminate the raider clan known as the Dark Angels which had made its camp in the ruins of Tallahassee. Ample forces were assembled and prepared for the challenge, as they mustered together all firearms and prepared new clones for combat. The raiders were believed to have been planning an attack on elsewhere in the District, so the army acted preemptively. The strike into Tallahassee began with relative precision but soon ran into trouble. The Dark Angels were alerted when numerous ghouls started howling at the presence of the FRD force. The fighting quickly became bitter and bloody, and nearly a third of the attacking force was killed, and many others wounded. Despite the setback, the FRD managed to achieve victory, wiping out the main raider base and sending the rest fleeing into the wasteland.

On the home front, the Governor has announced a new program of taxation, exempting original vault residents from paying, while heavily taxing all others. Clones of vault residents pay less taxes than the rest, but the others have helped provide a good deal of caps to the treasury. Meanwhile, salvage operations have come up empty-handed in the Crawfordville area, as parties from Nukaloosa and Nukacity find nothing within salvage range to return to the coffers. The expedition to Tallahassee had its usual reasonable success, but otherwise nothing special to report. The people in St. George had a modest amount of success, finding some wrecked old camps and huts throughout the wilderness. These have been scrapped and cannibalized for whatever value they had, but scouts report there is nothing else remaining within salvage range.

Governor’s Challenge: An annual scan of our systems indicate that recently our laboratory facilities were used by a wayward vault member. His enthusiasm for research has spurred some of our own vault scientists to propose a program for development. They have suggested that through our own facilities we could be research and development on exploring new avenues of laser weaponry, new types of chems and drinks for marketable purposes, or new construction techniques to help in building new structures and settlements. We don’t have the resources to pursue more than one avenue of research, which should we choose?

Fort Rome
Spoiler :

The warriors and citizens of Fort Rome have raised the bunker door to the wasteland through Redstone arsenal for the first time since the bombs first fell. Patrols were immediately sent out from the bunker to survey the surrounding area and found Huntsville to be in utter ruins, with no surviving human population. Numerous monsters and creatures roam the wreckage, but the most plentiful are the irradiated ghouls who have shown themselves to be considerable adversaries. Based on old maps from within the bunker, the community laid out a number of objectives, including the establishment of new settlements. Operations were begun immediately, starting with salvaging throughout the Huntsville area for any usable scrap. They were fortunate enough to have a reasonable haul without too much interference from local wildlife, even finding a collection of intact hunting rifles from an old gun store. Meanwhile, patrols have encountered immigrant types, and offered them citizenship, those that refused were brought into the Fort as slaves for labor purposes.

The expeditions sent out to establish new settlements had varying degrees of success. The first new town, Ravenna, was established at the Cathedral Caverns National Park. Using the cave network there, and expanding it somewhat, they established a new settlement, though they did have some difficulty on the way. Raiders attacked them in the ruins of Owen Cross Roads, but they were driven off with no casualties. Clearing the caves took some time too, as a variety of nasty monsters had made their homes within. The most ambitious effort was the creation of Capua at the ruins of Baker’s Chapel to the east of Huntsville. It was hoped that the location by the river would create extra-fertile environs for farming. Unfortunately, radiation from upriver has occasionally leaked out here, and the new settlement has found that only small amounts of food could ever be harvested if proper equipment was brought in.

Consul’s Challenge: A few of the slaves we brought in recently have turned out to be rather attractive young women. Some of our military personnel have suggested “nationalizing” these particular slaves to provide comfort for our fighting men. Some of our civilians have been shocked by this suggestion and find it barbaric at best. How do we respond to this proposal?

Georgia Reclamation District
Spoiler :

The Georgia Reclamation District has had a roaring start to the new year, coming off of their victory against the Steelmen. Through the market trading of excess materials, the faction managed to replace their depleted stocks of ammunition. Expeditions were sent out to a number of areas and had good success in salvage expeditions to a variety of towns to the south of Atlanta. None of the locations salvaged had many problems with hostiles, avoiding conflict of any kind. There were a number of varied animals at each location, but they were easily kept at bay with minimal expense of munitions. Even patrols between the cities of the District managed to avoid any significant conflict, and it seems likely that the Steelmen may have cleaned house of other threats on their way to Woodstock. The Governor has applauded these efforts and claimed that northern Georgia is well on its way to the return of civilization.

The District expanded by leaps and bound, beginning with the negotiated annexation of the town of Dallas to the west. Impressed by the District’s defeat of the marauding Steelmen, they were more than happy to join up with the larger faction. Patrols began to the area immediately to hold down any other threats on the roads. In addition to the resumption of regular salvage operations and missions, new efforts began in small-team reconnaissance of a number of ruined towns throughout north and central Georgia. The teams all returned with all sorts of reports, and even brought to notice a number of settlements ripe for annexation. The town of Hampton was quick to join up, particularly when word of the Steelmen sacking of Dawson came to light in the region. McDonough was equally interested in joining the District, having already heard good things from their weapons suppliers in Locust Grove. Another settlement was found in Royston, but emissaries from the Alliance of Free Georgia had already swayed them against the District, bringing them into line.

Governor’s Challenge: Some of our leading scientists have found the way the Enclave and our Governor do business repulsive. They have demanded that restrictions be lifted from alleged “mutated” individuals within the vault before they continue their efforts. These intellectuals have found the Enclave abhorrent, and they make up the heart and soul of our research project. They have threatened to strike if we do not cede ground to their demands, which will lead to a significant slowdown in our results. How do we respond?

Grand City of Orlando
Spoiler :

The Universal Reclamation Project has taken the opportunity to cease to exist. They have made major gains as the year began, establishing themselves as a new power in the central Sunshine Wasteland. After heated negotiations with the Edgewood Militia, Sunshine Kingdom, and Jacksonia, Universe City has become the center of a new order in the Orlando ruins. The town of Terminus was purchased by the leaders of Universe City, though Jacksonian residents were allowed to remain as a new garrison, and conduct salvage operations. A similar purchase led to the Sunshine Kingdom’s evacuation of Dragonville, and the closing down of operations there. With two of the three large factions of the Sunshine Wasteland out of Orlando, talks began between the Universal Reclamation Project and the Edgewood Militia to establish something greater. The Grand City of Orlando was born with the merger of the two factions. A new civilian government was created as the Edgewood Militia was reorganized into the Orlando Sheriff’s Office as the new military force.

Political reform was only one part of the faction’s growing position in the wasteland. In combination with the New Gulf Commonwealth and Jacksonia, construction was completed on a new railroad line running all the way up to the frontier town of Newberry. The expansion of the Trans-Jacksonian Railroad was combined with the new Orlando government sponsoring the construction of new train stations along the route through the New Gulf Commonwealth. The three factions have announced that the new railroad will protect migrants from the numerous hazards of the wastes and turn what was a multiple week journey into one that takes two days at most. Many are confident this will lead to an upswing both in immigration and the survival of migrants in the Sunshine Wasteland.

Grand Minister’s Challenge: First elections are at hand! There are two primary candidates for the first Grand Minister of Orlando. Jack Harrow has continued to run as one possible new head of state, while a Charismatic contender from Edgewood has been offered as another candidate. Which one of these two will triumph in the upcoming elections?

Green Bear Corps
Spoiler :

The Green Bear Corps has taken its first contract and suffered its first disaster simultaneously. Now aligned with the Sunshine Kingdom, the Corps sought to eliminate the main headquarters of the New Age Corporation in conjunction with an Imperium attack on Fort Jacksonville to the south. The attacking force travelled through half of the day and were ever alert for ambush, but sadly, not alert enough. The famed Talon Company ambushed the Corps while it was moving through the ruins of Jacksonville. Herded deathclaws struck into the heart of the Corps, distracting the best while Talon Company elite soldiers and snipers rained death from above. Eventually, even the howitzer from the New Age HQ began pouring down fire, destroying power armor and the people inside of it. The Corps had to retreat after suffering over a hundred casualties, faced with utter destruction if they maintained their course.

Captain-General’s Challenge: Over a quarter of our population was killed in the first contract we ever accepted. Some blame the Captain-General for the effort and are outraged at the whole plan, claiming that the Imperium let our own forces be sacrificed for victory in the south. With so many dead, they suggest we should become significantly more liberal with recruiting policies and less restrictive due to the need for more manpower. Others state that this will likely decrease the quality of our fighting force over time. How do we respond to this debate?

Jacksonia
Spoiler :

Jacksonia has had a mixed start to the year. One of the energy reactors at Fort Strength suffered a critical failure and an explosion resulted, leveling the building and killing the crew attempting to forestall the disaster. The radiation has contaminated a small portion of Fort Strength and made the reactor facility definitely unsalvageable. A similar problem took place in Fort Freedom when the ramshackle slave quarters caught fire, leading to the deaths of dozens of slaves who had been locked in chains at the end of the day. They were unable to escape and most were killed before the fire could be contained in their quarters. On the positive side of things, the sale of Terminus has bolstered the local economy, and turned over to the territory to the Universal Reclamation Project. The local residents and salvagers have remained as a new garrison, being allowed to be stationed there by the treaty with the leaders in Universe City. Jacksonia has announced that this vital garrison will help protect the security of the trans-Jacksonian railroad and its interests.

Overseer’s Challenge: The recent fire in Fort Freedom and the mass import of a large number of slaves has led to new discussion on slavery and the treatment of these less voluntary residents of the empire. While only radicals like the Sons of Oscar openly advocate emancipation, others have suggested that we could do more for the shameful conditions they are contained in. On the other hand, people state that the more strict quarters helps prevent revolt among the slaves. How do we respond to this debate?

Louisiana Reclamation District
Spoiler :

Vault 79 has undergone a number of changes as it has undertaken its first significant steps into the larger wasteland. The mysterious group known as the Enclave has been verified to be the successors of the American government, and allowed to station a garrison within the vault. They have offered ample support to the newly christened Louisiana Reclamation District, including a large amount of advanced melee weapons for combat. These new weapons in hand, the LRD has launched itself into the area around the bunker. Efforts have been made to clear out the nests immediately adjacent to the vault itself, and these have been mostly successful. At very least it has seemed that the mirelurks have learned to keep their nests and young further away from the vault doors. Salvaging began easily within Baton Rouge itself, as robots and men did their best to gather any materials of use, even finding a decent amount of firearms in the ruins of a gun shop. Further incursions using scouts and the Enclave’s scouting robots into the city seem to indicate a large number of ghouls in the interior while mirelurks nest along the river.

To aid in scouting operations, Enclave air support was provided to the vault as it opened the door on the Mississippi River. Boats were sent out both upriver and downriver, seeking to explore the banks and determine the fate of towns neighboring the larger city ruins. The boat sent north had little success in finding anything of value, finding most areas flooded or ruined beyond use of salvage. To make matters worse, the nearby town of Port Allen seemed crowed with hostile raiders in the midst of all sorts of debauchery, and they fired multiple shots at the boat before it withdrew. Enclave bombing discouraged them from further activity. They did make contact with a friendly settlement at an old university, now called Suam. They exchanged information and promised to send caravans towards the vault to aid with the purchase of material goods. The southbound vessel had less success in exploration, scouting the various towns along the west bank until Plaquemine, and they all seemed to be mostly slim amounts of wreckage and salvage, but they were able to collect a moderate amount for return to the vault. They did report that there were fewer hostiles towards the south than to the north along either bank.

Governor’s Challenge: Caravans have begun arriving at our door thanks to the help and recommendation of the town of Suam. For the most part, they do not seem to know exactly where to find us. Some of our people suggest we make it easier to locate our vault by extending fortifications into the area around the door. Others suggest we should keep a low profile to avoid less friendly intentions, despite the fact this would make it harder for supplies to arrive and be bought from caravans. How do we respond to this issue?

Maritime Collective
Spoiler :

The Maritime Collective had a fairly quiet beginning to a new year. There was some concern about the arrival of the massive primitive tribe known as the Westerlings to the north, and many were worried that they could turn south and attack Alfredstown. Thankfully that event never took place and the tribe continued on its way east. The Collective was able to safely focus on salvage efforts and exploration, sending their ships out to collect what they could. They were able to identify a number of sunken ships in the shallows of Bon Secour Bay, and undertake limited salvage operations. While no sophisticated equipment or supplies could have survived, the materials of the craft were deemed to be still possibly valuable for construction purposes. Another expedition was sent to the ruins of Biloxi to explore the destroyed Keesler Air Force Base, but they were dismayed to find the area already apparently cleared by unknown forces. The local robotic defenses were clearly destroyed with skill, and the area plainly looted of anything of value. The team salvaged what they could and returned to their ship.

Mayor’s Challenge: In recent days traders from New Panama have begun to find the town of Mariana to be increasingly hostile to their presence. Rather than being allowed to ply their wares in the actual town marketplace, they are forced to do so in the open, and camp without the security of being within the walls. They have reportedly become incredibly xenophobic and are not interested in further negotiations. Our traders have requested some sort of military action to force them to open their doors to free trade once again or at very least, some form of negotiations. On the other hand, our advisors are concerned about possibility alienating our most powerful neighbors besides the Enclave. How do we respond to this issue?

New Gulf Commonwealth
Spoiler :

The New Gulf Commonwealth has continued to provide for its people through constant purchases on the open market. The development of the Commonwealth was given a boost as the Universal Reclamation Project at last completed construction efforts on a new railroad. Working in conjunction with the Sunshine Construction Union and Jacksonia, efforts have been made to extend the Trans-Jacksonian Railroad through the Commonwealth all the way north to Newberry. The railroad was completed towards the middle of the year and the train was able to take its first trips to the far north. The happy occasion was somewhat marred by a raider attack on the town of Newberry. Local militias were quickly organized to repulse the assault, but the minimal fortifications led to heavier than expected casualties. The attack was driven off, but the raiders are still believed to be active and present throughout the area.

Governor’s Challenge: A new newspaper in Leesburg has begun railing against the Ryan family and government. They have claimed corruption and decadence surpassing that of the government that led America to ruin before the Great War. They continue to rally more and more support, as they seem to be building a substantial opposition towards our regime. Still, cracking down on the newspaper could fan the flames even more, how do we respond to these agitators?

New Paroisse
Spoiler :

The young faction of New Paroisse has opened itself to the wasteland for the first time, with mixed results. Salvage expeditions were sent out to explore the surrounding region and along the coast of Louisiana by boat. The first one was sent to the former tourist town of Grand Isle, and ordered to return with any possible salvage. The crew was quick to return, reporting the bridge to the mainland had long since vanished, and much of the rest of the town was flooded, occupied by a small mirelurk nest. Some salvage was brought back, including a collection of hunting rifles retrieved from the ruins. Other scouts were sent down the Mississippi River, to see if any other ruins remained. For the most part they found very little, as any existing structures had long since vanished. They were fortunate enough to find enough to bring home, including a locker full of military grade laser weapons. These weapons all came in handy when raiders struck at the town, though they seemed to be a bit surprised to find a town in this location. The raiders were eventually repulsed, but quite a few citizens were killed in the struggle.

Grand Juror’s Challenge: As we have more communication with the wasteland, we have learned that there is a market for slaves and slave labor throughout the region. Based on what we have learned from captured raiders and immigrants, there is an opening for a slave market in this region that could be very profitable. If we open our doors to an open slave market, we could also manage to make ourselves immune to slaver and raider attacks as even they need somewhere to buy and sell their products. Should we allow the slave trade or not?

People’s Republic of America
After the nuclear exchange, pro-Communist and pro-Chinese American militias took control of St. Pauls, executed their opponents and established a Communist dictatorship. The town itself had been spared the wrath of any nuclear missiles, so this gang had their opportunity without any distractions. Military and police forces in the region were overwhelmed by the preparation of these agents, who wielded superior weapons and equipment. The Committee has ruled the town with an iron fist for centuries, preventing any resurgence of decadent ideals or ideologies that stand against the Revolution. As it seems the rest of the Wasteland has begun to settle down, the Committee has at last determined that it must take a more active role in spreading the revolution throughout the region.

Premier’s Challenge:
Spoiler :

We have begun noticing more immigrants in our region lately. These people seek a better life and our Council believe we can offer one. On the other hand, we are concerned that immigration could lead to future food and water shortages and more difficult defense. How do we respond to the new issue of migration into our Republic?

Reclaimed Free Republic
Spoiler :

The Workers’ Republic of the Reclamation has undergone substantial change as a new year begins. Negotiations began with the Alliance of Free Georgia to discuss the formation of a united front and republic against the threat of the Georgia Reclamation District. It was uncertain as to whether or not talks would begin in the first place as all were concerned about the present threat of the Enclave. Eventually it was determined that because such a problem existed, there was all the more reason for unity. A new government has been formed with the Chairman of the Workers’ Republic at the temporary head as Chancellor. The territories of the Alliance of Free Georgia have entered into the same protection as the rest of the newly created Reclaimed Free Republic. The formation of the republic also teetered the town known as the Warren to join it, as they were equally concerned about the possibility of a conflict with the GRD. The town became a new cornerstone of the great new republic that has been formed.

Salvaging efforts have been underway throughout the whole of the Republic, focusing upon efforts in the ruins of Savannah and Augusta. The progress in Savannah has been significantly more substantial, thanks to the skill and equipment available to the workers there. Scouts in Augusta have reported that nothing exists in the city worth settling or farming, though they acknowledge that it could not hurt to set up water stations near the river. Patrols have been working to clear the area between settlements, along what many now call Reclamation Road. The progress has been steady, but slow, and the patrols encountered heavy resistance in the town of Wadley, where they were ambushed by raiders. The fighting was bitter and power armored soldiers were forced to be the sole survivors, evacuating their comrades’ bodies from the fighting.

The largest expedition and salvage effort launched was to clear the old Robins Air Force Base far to the southwest. They hoped to use advanced forces and equipment to clear out the old robots populating the area of the air base. The forces were sent with ample supplies to accomplish their mission, and did so with extraordinary skill and valor. Working their way carefully through the ruins, the soldiers found very little left worth returning home with. As far as anyone could tell, anything of value had either been destroyed by the nuclear bombs, stolen by previous salvagers, or destroyed in the recent battle. They gathered what scrap they could and returned back with not much to show for the whole mission.

Chancellor’s Challenge: Our young nation now faces the responsibility of choosing our first officially elected Chancellor. There are a number of candidates who all have equal authority and position that could allow them to take charge at this junction. The enigmatic Norman de Paur has been popular in the old Workers’ Republic, but he is a definite unknown elsewhere. The charismatic leader of the former Alliance of Free Georgia is another option for voters. Lastly, the lucky mayor of the Warren is a another practical candidate. Who do we choose to be our first official Chancellor?

Sawgrass Tribe
Spoiler :

The Sawgrass Tribe has done their best to acquire more materials for their future growth and expansion in the Sunshine Wasteland. Salvage and scouting expeditions were sent out both to the east and west, seeking to gather supplies needed for development. The western expeditions have begun mostly frequenting the untouched hotspot of Fort Myers, which has proved to be reliable and easy hauls for the Tribe. Other salvages were sent east this year, scouting towards the coast and the dangers along it. They encountered frequent attacks from the dragons that prowl the skies, occasionally grabbing and abducting scouts from where they stood. Despite the hazards, the eastern scouts have managed to return with a decent amount of supplies and even weapons from the wreckage.

Chief’s Challenge: Our traders have begun noticing a bit of a shift in the attitudes and merchandise of the people from the Survivalist Union. They have begun selling harmful chems and alcohol to our people, at the gates and in large quantities. Our people are calling for restrictions on the trade and efforts to be made to halt it. The new merchants from the Union are significantly different than the old ones and seem far less eager to help us. How do we respond to this new crisis?

Steelmen
Spoiler :

The rampage of the Steelmen has not yet come to a conclusion, placing all of southern Georgia into terror. They have found numerous others willing to join in their ways of conquest and destruction, enticed by the appeal of massive amounts of loot and slaves to be had. The nearby raider clan and successor to the Empire of America, the Spartans, were the first to be recruited and they were impressed by the strength and might of the Steelmen. They brought a good deal more warriors into the ranks and demonstrated themselves as skilled assets for conquest. Scouts were sent out through Alabama to salvage what they could and find other possible recruits, meeting with varying degrees of success. In the town of Clayton, a decent number of raiders were suitably impressed by the Steelmen delegation after their own leader was defeated in a fight. Similar results were had in the town of Abbeville. In Clio and Bakerhill, the scouts retrieved a decent amount of scrap, but encountered no humans for recruitment. Louisville on the other hand had a moderately fortified settlement, which was able to repulse the scouts in a brief skirmish.

After gathering these people to the banner of the Steelmen, the army swept east once more across the river, seeking to gain new wealth and pillage. They easily overwhelmed the few patrols thrown up by the Atom Union and struck at the town of Dawson. The town’s defenders had time to develop a defense, but they were nonetheless far outgunned and outnumbered. The howitzers of the Steelmen devastated the defenses and the walls, allowing them to pour through and smash apart the remaining militia. The rest of the Atom Union is now easily within range of the howitzers and the leaders of the Steelmen talk among themselves to determine what their next move may be.

Boss’ Challenge: Evidence has demonstrated that there could be infiltrators from the organization known as the Sons of Oscar among the ranks of our slaves. These agitators will likely seek to cause the slaves to escape or rebel and have already been spotted doing so. The few malcontents caught have been dealt with, but some of our people have suggested a cleansing of the ranks by slaughtering the slaves that remain to prevent contamination by the Sons of Oscar’s ideals. Of course if we butcher them all, there will be fewer to attend to our needs. How do we respond to this issue?

Sunshine Kingdom
Spoiler :

The Sunshine Kingdom has undertaken a number of internal development programs even while war continues to rage in the ruins of Jacksonville. The salvaging headquarters of Dragonville has been sold to the Universal Reclamation Project, and the local garrisons withdrawn from both there and Universe City. Some have seen this as effectively ceding control over Orlando to Jacksonia and its allies, but others declared the outpost superfluous with the new gains in Jacksonville. The Sunshine Railroad has finally opened for business, as trains run regularly from Saint Augustine to Nasacity. The train does not have the same hauling capacity as the Trans-Jacksonian railroad, but is known for its relative speed thanks to shorter routes of travel. This has been accompanied by the creation of a new ferry in Satsuma to help people cross the St. Johns. With the embargo of the Sunshine Imperium by the trade families continuing, profits have remained extremely low in the region as caravans and immigrants head in other directions. More immigrants seem to be coming in through Christmas from Terminus than the north.

The war between the New Age Corporation and the Sunshine Imperium has finally come to an end, as the Sunshine Kingdom and its allies engages in full force. The first attack came with the assault on Fort Jacksonville by both the Kingdom’s forces and the Sunshine Trading League. The New Age Corporation seemed to be expecting the attack and were prepared with their own defenses and artillery to fight tooth and nail. The fighting was severe and bitter, and attack after attack was made only to be thrown back again. Eventually the sheer numbers and attrition wore down the Corporation’s defenses and the few survivors and noncombatants surrendered to the Trading League. The outpost was occupied, but at a heavy cost. In the north the Green Bear Corps suffered a major defeat in the ruins of Jacksonville, and the Sunshine Kingdom’s force that had been attempting to meet them chose instead to undertake an attack on the New Age’s headquarters alone. The attack seemed suicidal and nearly turned out to be. A mininuke was used to destroy the outer fortifications and wipe out the bulk of the defense, particularly those wearing power armor. The attack seemed to be stronger than it was, but the defenders fought hard anyways, until eventually the leadership fled with everything they could carry. Most of the interior of the headquarters was destroyed by fire and explosives, preventing the Sunshine Kingdom from coming away with much salvage or spoils beyond stockpiles of food and weapons.

The Sunshine Kingdom took the opportunity with the war coming to a close to begin further excavations and launch new efforts for salvage. The positions in the former New Age headquarters have been assumed by the Sunshine Kingdom’s forces, and experienced salvagers from Orlando have moved in. Very few operations took place this year, but with ample robots and supplies, they are confident of the potential for lucrative returns in coming months. Scouts sent to Jacksonville Naval Air Station failed to return repeatedly, and there are too many concerns about the region being too heavily defended by monsters and base defenses to secure without a major effort. A similar expedition was launched to Valdosta in the far north, to find the remnants of the bunker of the known Atomic Foxes. The expedition was repeated raided and attacked by small groups of bandits during the entire journey. When they arrived in Valdosta, they found the bunker of the Atomic Foxes to be completely shattered and abandoned. Nothing beyond the first few chambers remained clear and the expedition accomplished what salvaging they could before returning home.

Queen’s Challenge: Pressure has eased in Congress, but the great caravan families of the Sunshine Wasteland have continued to embargo us, led by the leaders of the New Age Corporation. While at least most have dropped demands for the Corporation’s behalf in Jacksonville, they have begun to insist the end of any trade restrictions or regulations in the Kingdom. They insist that if we agree not to restrict or regulate any trade, beyond slavery, they will drop the embargo and once more allow us to purchase from the open market. How do we respond to this matter?

Sunshine Trading League
Spoiler :

The Sunshine Trading League has finally stabilized to a degree as the Trade Lord through his participation into the offensive to destroy the New Age Corporation. A large number of warriors were sent to join the attack upon Fort Jacksonville, hoping to reclaim it for the League. The assault turned out to be incredibly brutal and bloody, turning into a struggle of attrition. The soldiers of the League suffered the most, lacking any ranged weapons or equipment beyond the support of the Kingdom. The losses were in the hundreds, but eventually the defense cracked and the defenders were captured. The arsenal was retrieved and much of it was salvaged to be reclaimed as part of the new defenses. Unfortunately most of the buildings in town were wrecked by the artillery duel between the Kingdom and the Corporation, leaving the town essentially worthless for production beyond salvage purposes. The community has been restored, but it is considered to be more or less a ghost of its former self. The only other news were attempts to scout Crescent City and Welaka to the south, but the scouts reported that nothing of those towns remained, having long since been salvaged by the Fellowship of the Palm and the Sunshine Kingdom.

Trade Lord’s Challenge: We captured several dozen people after the attack on Fort Jacksonville, and some of them seem to be possible loyalists to our leadership. Still, many took up arms against us in the battle that took place there. Should we offer amnesty for these people or see justice done against them?

Tennessee Valley Authority
Spoiler :

The Tennessee Valley Authority has emerged from its bunker and opened its eyes to the new world of the wasteland. They were immediately greeted by a surprised band of raiders which unthinkingly charged in to attack the bunker’s denizens. Thanks to overwhelming laser weaponry and power armor the bandits were annihilated with few casualties, leading to an easy first victory. The initial scouts reported that radiation in Knoxville itself has subsided to low levels, while the region itself has been populated by a large number of feral ghouls. Salvage operations were undertaken locally, and easily conducted despite occasional ghoul interference. More importantly scouts were sent north, west, east, and south, to explore the region and develop a better idea of the lay of the land.

The northern expedition was forced to quickly stop at Norris Lake, and based on radiation readings, they estimated that much of the area to the north was highly irradiated to deadly levels. Eastern scouts had more success, but were unable to find a crossing at Douglas Lake. In Midway and Dandridge, a large amount of wildlife existed, but scouts reported that the Midway area could be highly fertile for future farming efforts. Scouting to the west halted when they reached the town of Karns. A major raider community was found to exist there and the scouts retreated due to being heavily outnumbered. The expedition to the south found an existing settlement called Rockard at the ruins of Rockford, and they established friendly contact. The community seemed amicable enough, and offered to direct caravans in the bunker’s direction.

Authority’s Challenge: The town of Rockard has generously begun to direct caravans laden with goods from the wasteland in our direction. The slave trade is a growing market, and ripe for mercantile opportunity. Raiders constantly seek new locations to sell acquired product, and there is room for such a market in our region, keeping raiders from attacking us. Should we allow the slave trade to freely exist in our territory?

Transmississippian Confederation
Spoiler :

The Transmississippian Confederation has managed to avoid more tragedy while prospering. Salvaging operations continue to be launched unhindered and the town of the Glen has been granted admittance to the Confederation. The new town has become a valued member of the regional community, as part of the growing trading system within. The large operation undertaken was salvaging in the area southeast of Wicked Burrow, seeking out new supplies for use in the Confederation. The territory had been previously scouted by others, though this operation was sent further south than any previous ones. They managed to retrieve a fair amount of scrap from throughout the region, though it was deemed that the town of Carlisle would likely not provide any further use to future salvage operations. The scouts managed to make contact with two further independent communities; Gibton and Hermanville. The two towns have been friendly enough towards the Confederation, though it seems that the latter has been struggling in recent years.

Pack Leader’s Challenge: Our institute has begun to attract a number of new researches and amateur scientists. They have suggested that they could begin research operations to open new sorts of technologies and techniques to benefit the whole Confederation. They have brought up several different courses of research to pursue. The first suggestion has been to study old tribal food harvesting techniques in medicine in the hopes of bolstering food production. The second suggestion has been to look into possibility of developing more advanced melee weapons. The final suggestion made has been to look towards less sophisticated manners of flight. Which course should our researchers pursue?

@DuneBear: I would suggest posting your radio message on the thread yourself if you want anyone besides me to read it. Also, I see the Governor has taken a lot of influence from President Eden in his speechwriting.

Once again I repeat: for my own sanity I will not do more math than absolutely needed. Therefore, stick to the units on the market chart, and try not to buy fractions of things. It makes it so much harder to do exchanges and deals.

@Everblack: Do you mean buying the ships that exist in your nation, held by private citizens, or buying ships in general (Which can’t be done)?

@Quisani: You say to hold a referendum, but you don’t specify exactly what the referendum has listed as options to be taken. I am going to need some more specifics on exactly what the referendum is supposed to do and accomplish. So, for the time being that has not taken place, and your Challenge has been carried over to this update.

@thomas.berubeg and Moneotius: I did not transfer the 80k Caps to the Green Bear Corps due to the outcome of the fighting in Jacksonville. If the payment is needed, make sure it takes place in next turn’s orders.

Due to the length of time it took to prepare this update and the fact that my book should be coming out on Amazon.com next week, we will not be having an update until the week after next. Therefore you have a bit extra time to get in orders and to buy the same book on Amazon over and over again.

@Mosher: I was unable to locate any facility known as Fort Knox to the northeast of your region that could be salvaged. Therefore, no such operation was launched. On top of that, any further north expansion will run into natural barriers of all types and usually result in heavy casualties. You’ve been warned. Also I think I had Knoxville in a very wrong place on the map, so you have been moved to the correct (hopefully) location on our map.

@<nuke>: Yes, you can choose which candidate emerges victorious in the elections, it’s entirely up to you.

@theDright: In case it isn’t clear in the update, the salvage retrieved from the expedition north up the Mississippi was calculated as part of “Baton Rouge area salvage.”

I was actually looking back over my orders from past turns... and I'm not sure I actually have any trade restrictions: What do they want lifted?

There was a toll over the bridge at some point, but the only interference I've done with merchants is last turn's registration campaign.

@Thomas: you do actually have some restrictions according to my notes, such as where chems can or cannot be traded and there are individual restrictions in all communities. They'd like all restrictions like that (barring slavery) to be lifted.

I don't believe I have restrictions on the SALE of chems, simply on the purchase, production, and Use of hard chems.

(Semantics, I know, but...)

As for restrictions in individual settlements, that's up to the town council of that town, not up to the Queen OR the congress.

Understood EQ. Congrats on the book coming out.
