Brave New World announced!

Now that we have most European nations, I'd like to see a WWI/II/Cold War scenario.

Agreed. But I think a WWII scenario is out of the question because it would be pointless to have that scenario while excluding the key figure that started it all. For some reason, that particular leader is forbidden in the world of civ, and can't even be mentioned on this forum. If there was a WWII scenario, they would give Germany a ridiculous leader, probably Rommel or something like that. That would be like making Patton the leader of America.

But they could easily do a cold war scenario. They could probably make great use of the world congress in a scenario like this.

Nice to see international sport get a little niche with the World Games. Maybe Great Athletes would have been a nice addition too; perhaps they could have settled a stadium complex granting happiness and tourism bonuses or something. I suppose that might have led to great person overload though, what with artists expanding into several categories.

Not announced yet.
Straw poll: Who will be playing Poland on an Earth map for their first game and constantly reloading until you get a north African start?

:wavey:
And I will always be the first to launch Project Apollo. Always.

Civ 4 had a WWII scenario, complete with Hitler as a playable leader. Also,
hitlerhitlerhitlerhitler

You can add the Globe Theater to the wonder list too because it's specifically mentioned in the official site.

From the wording, the 3 old SoPol industrial branches are rebranded into ideologies. I bet they'll be replaced by new SoPols wether they start from an ealier era or not.

This will likely be the last expansion to the civ V series (there will be some patches). After this expansion the next big thing is civ 6.

There is no way that with an expansion of this magnitude they are only giving us 2 scenarios. I am almost certain that there is a 3rd scenario that they are keeping a secret.

Every time I see an expansion announced that doesn't include a WWI or WWII scenario, I cry a little inside. Still, an ACW scenario is a good start, and I've loved most of the other scenarios.

Moderator Action: No more Hitler, thank you.
Well, it seems aluelkdf was right. Can we still talk about a WWII scenario or is that off limits too because of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?

I'd expect a third expansion. Mainly because there is no corporations, global warming, MAD, so pretty much no way to destroy the human race.

I could see that happening. You tell your great athlete to settle a stadium complex in your inland civ. Instead, he refuses, and takes his talents to that competing civ on the south beach.

Is that Poland's UA? Where did you find this?

From the PCGamer interview:

"Firaxis: Poland’s trait is called Solidarity, and they receive a free Social Policy when they advance into each new era. Poland gave us the opportunity design a Civ with extremely strong mounted units in the Medieval-Renaissance era. When you see the bonus for the Winged Hussar, it should give players a lot of flexibility in terms of changing the way a battle unfolds tactically. Since their Civ trait is extremely flexible, I think Poland is an effective Civ for a wide variety of victories."

I love it, it's more of a political science game than ever! I disliked the cynical view that order, freedom, and autocracy were just a means to the end of a cold simple numbers game. I love ideological struggles!

Seems like good ole Pacal would love that Casimir fella then... assuming they don't start off next to each other

This ideological feature will be intresting. I look forward to see more of what this expantion provides.

also looks like that tech trade modifier in the Civ5 xml files will be of use now, seeing they're bringing tech trading back

We really can't say that name? I was making a joke because I thought as long as we are having a relevant discussion (ie about a WWII scenario) we could say the name. I made the joke because I thought that guy was being silly, but we really cant use the name here, ever?

What the hell it was a legit discussion!

See what I mean? The mod from civ 4 was made independently, not officially endorsed. It's a shame that we can't have a great mod just because of political correctness to the extreme. I wonder what would happen if there actually was an official WWII scenario with that leader, if we would still be banned to so much as mention a key historical figure that is actually part of the game?
