Brave New World announced!

Seems like good ole Pacal would love that Casimir fella then... assuming they don't start off next to each other

Could be worse, he could start of next to one of the early warmongers.
How many of those do we have now assuming that Assyria and Zulu will be added?

Huns, Aztec, Greece, Mongolia, Denmark, Japan, Assyria, Zulu and did I miss anybody?:crazyeye:

See what I mean? The mod from civ 4 was made independently, not officially endorsed. It's a shame that we can't have a great mod just because of political correctness to the extreme. I wonder what would happen if there actually was an official WWII scenario with that leader, if we would still be banned to so much as mention a key historical figure that is actually part of the game?

It was officially endorsed, it was packaged with BtS, that is an endorsement,in my book. It's also hypocritical of Firaxis to do the CSA civ but not the Third Reich.

You missed Japan

Holy crap, ALL of the users are on this one subforum! Too bad I couldn't get here sooner, I woke up today really sick. :vomit:

Anyways, I'm surprised about all the new civs they're adding, there are already plenty. Pretty sure they're going to add Srivijaya or SOME Indian Ocean-oriented trade Civ considering the expansion's focus. I've also got the feeling that Firaxis/2K has been reading some of our posts. I've read alot of these ideas around the forum...

I also love the idea of World Congresses. Those were implemented in Rhye's and Fall of Civilization, and it was really a game-changer late game. Can't wait to really let Hiawatha have it!

one question here. I got 20 mods that im using in gods and kings. will that work on this new exspansion u think?? dont want to lose some of my mods i use now

Judging from Poland's UA I'm guessing social policies will cost less; a free policy every era is game breaking the way cultural victory works now. This is pretty great; I don't remember the last time I filled Autocracy or Order due to the culture price.

Whatever happens, you'll just have to wait and see if the mods get updated.

I can't speak for other authors, but I will be updating the mods which need it to BNW. I'm hoping that they won't all need to be updated though, which was the case with G&K, since that took way too long.

I wonder if the Utopia Project is just totally out now? I wouldn't miss it. If it is out, then I assume that the social policies are a bit easier to get, especially if the social policies are being reworked to function similarly to religion. I too rarely finish one of the three end-tier social policy trees. Considering this 'ideology' thing, I'd assume it is now almost a given that, granted you reach end game, you will pick one and fill it at least partially.

The new Great Works system might break the wonders though. Although I believe, not all of the Wonders have them...

Maybe I'll make another version of the Wat Phra Kaew with the Emerald Buddha as a Great Work :D

The new cultural victory sounds interesting. Although I can't say it'll be awesome just yet. Honestly, the Great Works system described in one of the articles sounds tacky...

True - although I doubt they would break the wonders, as the culture tag did with G&K. We'll need to wait for more info (hopefully from PAX) to find out if that'll be the case or not.

Damn people, I leave for a few hours and come back to this and 9 pages already! A few random thoughts:

- One World was obviously a code name for the project. It is common for unannounced projects to go under a temporary name.

- Most excited about trade routes! And they are removing gold from the map? Crazy! I wonder if trading posts are removed as well. I was just commenting the other day how trading post spam looks terrible on the map.

- There will be at least one African Civ guaranteed with the colonization scenario.

I think its a fairly safe assumption to say that the new cultural victory will replace the Utopia Project; two cultural victory conditions seems unlikely. The Project was the main reason for the steep policy increase and with it gone it'll allow for more varied policy choices rather than the science focused trees which are the norm.

Excited to know how surplus culture from culture oriented civs will work. :)

We should look at G&K in terms of scenario civs:

Smokey Skies - 0
Into the Renaissance - 6 (Austria, Byzantium, Celts, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden)
Fall of Rome - 3 (Byzantium, Celts, Huns)

Two of the civs (Byzantium, Celts) were present in both scenarios, and in each scenario there were a number of scenario-specific civs:

Smokey Skies: 5 (Dalmace, Eruch, Orlin, Pulias, Vedria)
Into the Renaissance: 2 (Almohavids, Ayyubids)
Fall of Rome: 3 (Franks, Goths, Vandals)

So, if this will be similar to G&K I would say we'll have maybe four / five SFA civs, with one, maybe two for the Civil War. A couple more would also be scenario-only

And I just released my 4th out 18 planned mods. I actually don't mind, I knew this day was coming soon anyway. Hopefully this expansion doesn't completely break them though. If it does I'll just update them.

I just read the first few posts and already I'm blown away by this. This has the potential to be even bigger and better that g&k.

It is huge. There are 2 new features plus a revised culture victory. That's pretty cool.
