Except that Sacagawea has even less claim to leadership than Pocahontas. Pocahantas was a princess of sorts. Sacagawea was a common maiden, enslaved, sold or gambled to French guy then came back home with the Corps of Discovery to find that her brother was a Chief. She didn't even stick around. She continued traipsing off with the Corps until they went back east and she stayed with her husband until she died. Her role in the Corps was mostly as translator. She occasionally pointed them in the right direction. Her biggest contribution is that she was a female among men. The Corps would've been taken as a war party except for her presence.
