Hell no. The Cherokee's survival through everything, their ablility to adapt and modernise, their sophisticated political structure and development in the 19th century means that though they may not be the most important, they certainly did some pretty impressive things, given their situation. They were the only people to ever develop an alphabet from scratch since the dawn of time, for goodness' sake. New Echota/Tahlequah should be a CS, at the very least.

For one, it was a syllabary, not an alphabet. Second, it wasn't "from scratch", it borrowed elements from written English (thus why some English letters appear in their syllabary).

That said, I would really love to see the Cherokee in Civ. I'd imagine them with a UA that gives them a science bonus for each neighboring civ that has more technologies than them. It was amazing how rapidly the Cherokee developed when they had the inspiration to do so.

Of course, my solution to this would be something as simple if the developers allowed us to change CIV names in the advance setup menu, though of course, even then, Rome will not equal Italy.

They already allow us for that. You can change the leader name even... (So in that case I'd change Venice for Italy) You can also change the name of your cities once you found them...

Lol, all the civs I speculated after Brazil, Poland and Assyria came true. 2 from Europe Portugal speculated along with the already announced Poland. 2 Asian civs Assyria and speculated Indonesia. 2 African speculated Zulu and not really Morocco, but I thought of some kind of Berber civ and there is a unit Berber Cavalary. 1 South America Brazil already announced. And now only two North American civs remain, possibly the Sioux and I am betting on either Pueblo or Inuits. If it all turns out true I should really get paid by someone ;)

I am I little suprised by Morocco. Why them? While they look nice there are still more influental civs than them. Why not Serbia which repelled 2 invasions of Austria-Hungary during WWI, and had many other countless successes during WWI (small country, then tell me why is Ethiopia in? Because of the bravery they showed during WWII, Serbia should get it's place). And why not Hungary, one of the most powerful and influental nations in the Middle Ages, and basically through the whole history afterwards.

Because diversity is good, and a lot of players are sick of the Eurocentrism of Civ.

Morocco is extremely important to economic, politiccal, religious, and intellectual world history. It was a center of trade connecting together sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Europe for centuries - no small thing, considering the fact thaat much of Europe's gold and salt came from the trans-Saharan trade routes through Morocco in the medieval era. Politically, they were one of the powerful Muslim states of the medieval and early modern eras; Moorish dynasties were a great threat to Spain and Portugal and played a key role in the formation of their national identity, an identity of which played a role in the conquest of the New World; Moroccan society in the medieval era was also a melting ot of sorts of Muslims, Christians, and Jews, and many scholars iin these fields contributed to philosophy, mathematics, and more.

Morocco's contribution is much more than Serbia in world history, and at least as good as Hungary if not more. The Berbers whom they represent have been one of the most neglected groups in the civ series, despite their importance in world history, and Morocco is a good choice.

Venice might represent Italy even less than Rome does. Venice controlled the area around Venice and nothing else on the Italian peninsula.

YAY, NO ITALY!!! (No offense to Italians, but we already have Rome).

Sorry if I offended those who wanted Italy, but I really did not want it. Oh well, Cuba and the Iunit will not be included.

Venice is a God awful choice as a civ. If it had to be Euro, you may as well have gone with Hungary or some Eastern Euro nation.

Ethiopia has a history that dates back to the antiquity... It is the cultural and territorial heir to the Aksumite Empire, one super power of its time. It has many mentions in the Bible and other civilizations of its time...

Although Serbia had important wholes in modern history, it is quite "puny" compared to Ethiopia.

****

But, changing the subject... Why was Ukraine completely removed from the speculations again?

It has a solid case for an Eastern European scenario, got independence from Poland, fought the Russians and with them many times... Kiev is not a City State.

So? Can anyone explain me?

Ah, I knew it nobody wants Serbia :(. I wouldn't have a problem if they were named Berber Empire (Civilization), Berbers where important and I agree. But Morocco? Well... still gonna play them :)

No worries. But just for perspective, saying Rome represents Italy would be like saying we'll never have Cuba because we already have Spain.

yay no cuba!!!

Morocco is better than the Berber blob. Would you want a Yugoslav civ representing Serbia, Croatia, etc., or, worse, a "Southern Slavic" civ? (Though I think a Berber bllob would be cool) Morocco's history is pretty long, and many Berber dynasties like the Almoravids and Almohads are considered an important part of Morocco's history even if they weren't actually called Morocco back then.

Clearly being the birth place of a terrorist is a much bigger contribution to world history than being one of the most influential cultures in the Medieval and Renaissance that also left a significant mark on the history and culture of the cultures it had contact with, or being one of the most important African empires to ever exist, including being one of the very few Christian African cultures before the colonization of the continent, and the only African culture that withstood being overthrown by European colonization until WW2.

Clearly, Serbia is one of the most important factors in European and global history, and it is an outrage that the mighty Serbian nation is not included before such puny "empires" such as Rome or China.

"Puny"? And Ethiopia wasn't puny compared to Italy? But they still respect them for their heroism (Ethiopia I mean, not Italy).

I almost did not catch the sarcasm there.

Well If they included Yugoslavia with comrade Tito that would be great, really. That way none of the civs like Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia won't yawn how their civ wasn't included and so on.

That is not entirely correct.
At points, it had control over Lombardy and Milan, and also had small enclaves on the Eastern coast of the peninsula, such as Ravenna.

What are you talking about? I never said that Serbia is more important than China and Rome? Of course they should be included. But since now we have 43 civs we can go much deeper and include civs which were more regional powers.
