Brave New World's 9 new Civs

So I think the two remaining will be:
- Venice - Domenico Selvo
- Shawnee - Tecumseh

Shawnee makes sense to me because they're Algonquin and have a history of wars with the Iroquois. Plus had a big role in the War of 1812. Plus the Tomahawk icon for a UU would make sense... maybe name it a "Serpent Warrior". A Serpent Mound UB would work, but I don't know how it could mesh with the expansion's new features.

Venice... much discussed elsewhere, but the matching color of the flag thing is very convincing.

... a comment on the Sioux - I thought it was them due to the unique resource thing (thinking that would be Buffalo). But the unique resource mechanic is apparently belonging to Indonesia. So now the Shawnee just make more sense. If it's not Shawnee, then I think they're keeping the Pueblo but have a different leader than Pope'.

I personally feel that if Venice is included, it would have to be led by Enrico Dandolo.

I would like to see Venice led by Enrico. Led Venice in the Fourth Crusade while he was blind, man.

What is the new resource? I didn't know it was revealed.

Enrico Dandolo would kick ass.

Ill go with the Sioux purple was used for the Sioux in civ 2 and did we forget about
the Barbarian (Axeman) that has an icon that look like a tomahawk and has a unit graphic that does look native american ?

I'd agree that of the few remaining European civs, Hungary would have been the best option - however I suspect that Poland rather than Venice took its likely slot (same general area of Europe, one of the two European civs that could be representatives of the ideology mechanic without changing Russia or Germany - and with the civ list and abilities mostly revealed it seems that Poland is intended as the sole "ideology civ").

I'm happy to see Poland in the game, but there are many ways to construct a civ aside from ideology. My issue is not really that Hungary wasn't included, but that it seems excluded. However, this really isn't the place to elaborate on that but I am working on it.

Exactly my thoughts!! I'd love to have Hungary, I'd prefer them over Poland, but, since we got Poland, please, no Hungary.

If you'd love to have Hungary, please support them along with the other civs you love rather than put down one in favor of another.

Sioux didn't use tomahawks.

The term Tomahawk is originally Algonquin... the Shawnee are Algonquin :]

As mentioned a thousand times before, the Sioux have nothing to do with purple. One of the few native American civs that has pretty much 0 relevance for Purple. Civ 2 only had 7 colors and Mongolia had the same color as the Sioux that game, it was pretty much arbitrary and random for Civ 2 color schemes

Romania. Because Vlad Dracula is well-known amongst Americans (comparatively to badasses like Enrico "Blind Sack of Constantinople" Dandolo"), iconic, and Romania would be an intriguing Eastern European darkhorse. If they could pull out the frickin Huns, then I could see them pulling Romania (and I think they'd be better than Venice IMO).

Sioux for the other one.

My two predictions.

I think the whole Venice idea is pretty silly. To call it a "civilization" is way too far.

Knowing the details so far, I would bet on Romania. Playing as Vlad, the Impaler, would be too cool. Oh, and Sioux will probably be the other one.

I believe Tomahawk wasn't in fact Algonquin. It is in fact a Powhatan word, which is an Algonquian language.

The Powhatan are also Algonquian :]

Ok - well I meant Algonquin language ;)
Shawnee make sense to me for the other reasons. All the Algonquin speaking tribes used the TOmahawk, so it would work. "Algonquin" itself does not fit into the Achievement list though. Powhatan and Shawnee both do though :)

Bucharest has been spotted.

Agreed, all for Vlad the impaler at this point. Certainly be a motivating factor to not lose a war with him! Plus we have so many civs that tie into the core additions of this expansion they could use another random didn't see that coming civ. Vlad alone would bring more spice than Venice for me personally

Wasn't Bucharest seen as a city-state in a bnw video?

Smh. Bucharest is a CS

I'd be happy with either the Powhatan or Shawnee, more so with the Shawnee though. I really don't want Pocahontas to be leader of anything except an Na'vi civ.

Can we please make a list of civilizations that cannot be in BNW? Due to city states, etc.
