Brave New World's 9 new Civs

Since BNW has a focus on exploration, Sacagawea actually makes sense for the new game mechanics. Maybe she would give the Shoshone some exploration related bonuses as a UA. Not that I'm rooting for this, but it does make some internal logical sense.

While I am still extremely skeptical of whether the Shoshone are in (I still don't know where the source is (since it apparently got deleted) and I don't know how reliable it is in the first place), despite being a complete dark horse for me, their inclusion would make sense - the devs could still re-use some of their Pueblo assets, it'd be a little easier to find a native speaker, they have Sacagawea if they really want a female leader (and a recognizable one too), it is a western native American civ that'd be differentiated from the eastern native Americans, and as theodorious said if they play on Sacagawea and so on there could be something related to exploration.

From what I know the Polish forum currently have any kind of Venice and other nations, but sources from the Russian forum going probably from .. Apparently there was revealed yesterday or the day before they even give screenshots from this addon.. However, quickly been removed .. So I told a few friends on Steam. Therefore, the info was spread to the Polish forum and now here

Yes.. is exactly as you say.. I see too from russian forum (2-3 days ago, when I using google.com).. but I see screenshots and one movie from intro BNW!.. Now this post removed from russian forum :D..

I very Like Civ5 but where is information about soshone and venice? I today search polish site and forum and Only speculation about this two civs. But someone put the other two civilizations - Tibet and Hungary. Its Interesting. This two civilizations - Tibet and Hungary i see too in germany site or forums.

Personally without any kind of evidence to back them, I wouldn't bother with any websites like that.

We already know that Venice is one of the remaining, unless they did something bizarre like having Venice as a city in another Civilization (that is not Italy as they can't have Rome, Genoa or Milan) that they just happened to colour exactly the colours of the Venetian Flag. We know Tibet isn't one, unless they have a Lhasa-less Tibet, which would be odd to say the least.

Does anyone know the Russian Forum that supposedly had the screenshots?

The Poles were also saying something about a Crossbowman. I think they were talking about Venice. I'm not sure if that was knowledge or speculation either.
Funny. They were saying about crossbowman in overall, becausue BNW is not changing them... so again, there will be spam of crossbowman with maybe 1 or 2 horse...., propably BNW will be unplayable like recent version.

hmm latest news from Firaxis --> Vietnam and Vatican City? :|
They're joking, idk why someone is looking for some leaks in foreigners forum.

Ok, i`m Polish, so i can probably help a bit here.

1) The news about Shoshone WAS posted, but the post was deleted way before i could read it.

It was supposedly made by a reviewer, and, again supposedly, the same info (although with more details, like scrs and UU`s) was posted somewhere on a russian forum (no links, and it was deleted almost instatenously)

2) The Crossbowman thing is nothing, they are just saying, that they dont like it that the crossbowman unit (normal unit) keeps its stats, as they would like to see it nerfed.

3) The whole Hungary, Vietnam Vatican etc is just a joke, couse they noticed, that you gauys at civfanatics are reading and they decided to make fun of you by throwing some wild ideas and laugh while you try to decipher what they mean.

4) There are currently no links nd there is literaly no proof that the news about Shoshone is in fact news and not just pure speculation, every actual info that was posted is now deleted and has not been quoted anywhere.

5) Most of the discussion is actualy about where can you buy the cheapest BNW preorder.

Oh my... Shoshone as a civ make very little sense. Sacagawea as a leader does not make any sense. If this is true, then its the worst leader choice ever. Nobody knows her outside US, because there is nothing special about her.

At about thirteen years of age, Sacagawea was taken as a wife by Toussaint Charbonneau, a Quebecer trapper living in the village. He had also taken another young Shoshone named Otter Woman as a wife. Charbonneau was reported to have purchased both wives from the Hidatsa, or won Sacagawea while gambling.

13 year old slave girl who was bought or won in gambling by a fur trapper. Really a Civ leader?

But now.. new informations about 2 civs from polish user Dyktator

hmm latest news from Firaxis --> Vietnam and Vatican City? :|

They just try to hide this leak of one of reviewer about Shoshone and Venetia by adding those fake messages. Information about Shoshone and Venetia is 100% true. I have received an official email with request to edit/delete my post with info about Shoshone and Venetia confirming that those two civs are correct new civs.

Would you mind providing screenshot complete with the visible sender email address?
Quote the entire thing for us to look at. If you say you deleted it, I will sigh in disappointment.

This thread feels like a must now. Several Polish-speaking friends here at CivFanatics says that it was a reviewer that made a post revealing Shoshone and Venice as the two remaining BNW civs, but the post was quickly removed (see Native American thread for Polish link and the discussion on that). This leaves the field open for speculation as for what kind of unique abilities and unique units could be made out of the Shoshone nation.

I think exploration will be important, if we assume Sacagawea as their leader. Also, she made sure that Lewis & Clark's expedition succeeded by not only by being a female Native American, but also by talking to them and befriending them. Perhaps Shoshone as the UA of befriending barbarians and use them in various ways, as has been proposed for the hypercube civ.

I really feel this will be a fun and versatile civ to play, and I am looking forward to trying out next month.

What are you thoughts and guesses about the Shoshone civilization? For argument's sake, in this thread we presume that they are indeed in. :)

I concur.

Where can I find that video, article or whatever it is where the civs are mentioned? I would like to see it with my own eyes. Link please.

hmm an Idea just came to me thanks to your post. While I know next to nothing about Shoshone history, I find it hard to believe that there isn't a more suitable leader than Sacagawea. But what if Sacagawea was not the leader, but essentially the UA (assuming this speculation is even half correct and the Shoshone are in BnW). Her help on the L&C expedition does allow for a civ with some abilities to go with the new exploration mechanic. "Sacagawea's Journey" as a UA?

Given Firaxis's leader choices (looking at you, India and China), I'd expect Sakajawea to get in as the leader if the Shoshone are more than just a rumor.
Wu did rule China for a while (though I agree there are better leaders to choose from, I'd prefer Qin Shi Huangdi myself), and Gandhi was at least a very important political and spiritual figure even though he technically never ruled India. Even Theodora is sometimes described as on the same level of influence as her husband. But Sacagawea...

...would be entirely plausible given some of the other choices they've made with this expansion. Don't get me wrong, BNW seems pretty awesome and even if Sac makes it in I'll still buy it and enjoy it, but there are several choices I just have to shake my head at (Maria I, Prora, scrapping Motherland Calls, etc).

That would definitely be better option. After Theodora and Dido Im still rather skeptical that they dont go for Sacagawea.

I have said this before, but if they really wanted more female leaders, there would have been good choices for several in-game Civs. Egypt, Ethiopia, Denmark, Sweden etc.
