Brazil - Pedro II Thread

So they are great people focused. I gotta freeze the GP screen and see what the bonuses look like.

Interesting to see that all civs will be vying for the same named great people(?)

So is it just me, or do Great People seem to be much less powerful this time around? I'm not complaining, I think this is a good thing, because it will make it possible to provide more great people without breaking balance.

I can't listen to the video at work, but I can watch it. I noticed at the beginning (~:31) that the borders were more rounded, but dashed. Later in the video they were back to being straight solid lines.
They also change colours several times. :crazyeye:

Great Prophets do not appear to have any specific abilitise other than founding religions. Which is kinda disappointing, they could've had unique Founder beliefs or something along those lines. But hey, we'll see religion fairly soon regardless.

It was discussed before. Having one Great Prophet to be better than other would be very bad thing to have. So all Great Prophets having the same ability was really predictable.

It's interesting what on the second Great People screen you can't recruit the Great Prophet - they seem to be limited by the number or religions (or just 1 Great Prophet per civilization if there's no limit on number of religions can be founded in a game).

Isn't Real-Life Brazil sorta known for demolishing its rain forests? lol
It would've been more appropriate to give them huge gold/production bonuses every-time they cut down a rainforest.

Aww man. They really are going to do it aren't they? Put Brazil in without having The Inca. Not that Brazil isn't cool, they're definitely a worthy addition to the series and 6's iteration does seem fun to play, but there's no way they should be in when The Inca aren't.

Oh well. Maybe we'll get lucky and it turns out either of the mystery leaders from the portrait wall is one of the Sapa Inca.

:sigh:

 Brazil's inclusion doesn't exclude Inca, Inca just will come at a different time.

Yeah, To be fair, now with the inclusion of Great Prophet points, it makes sense that you'd only need one Great Prophet, and use your Faith accumulation to build up your religion with new beliefs, that system would be wicked as it was one of my dream designs for Civ 6.

looks like they have a scroll bar at the bottom, so I would guess artists and perhaps musicians are not visible, but in.

That explains why they showed a "broken" screen so. Bit counter-intuitive if you ask me. (Broken as in it cut off at Writer and I did not notice the scroll bar) xD

What an amazing Leader! Love the look, animation is a bit floppy though.
And what's going on with those borders? Dotted versions and waterry version. Looks like a lot of things are still in WIP. But amazing to see the great people's screen!

There's no "special wonderS". Brazil is a regular Civ. So if its' in it's just regular. There are no unique wonders mind you. (The Aztec one is not a unique to Aztec anybody can build it).

Maybe unique national wonder then? it can replace another national wonder.

I felt a bit underwhelmed by the great persons. Their abilities doesn't seem nearly as good as in previous games (namely the great engineer)

I wonder if they'll be somewhat weaker but much more common

The bonuses seem to be proportional to the era of the Great People. The classical era GP have less powerful bonuses than the medieval era GP.

Look at the beard on this guy.

I do like how Pedro looks, but this does make me really miss the animated backgrounds of Civ 5. Meeting Pedro in that dark room was so atmospheric.

I see the Great Merchant is cheaper to purchase than the other Classical Era GPs, so I assume they take Progress into account.

EDIT: Well, I guess DeathGOD1235's 3rd screenie answers that question for me.

I'm sorry, but given how exploitative everybody was towards some of the Great people (namely towards Merchants, Engineers and SCIENTISTS), I'm happy to see they got a revamp. No more bulbing, no more rushing, no more insta-allies.

This low-key curbs the snowball effect (no more getting 3 techs in a single turn because you saved all of your scientists).

5th level city requires 2 amenities. It looks like the number of amenities don't depend on population and is just a limit to the number of cities. In this case it's expansion limiter only. Looks ok to me. Now we need to know:
- How the amenities are distributed between cities if we have some, but not enough.
- How the amenities over the required number are used.
- Are there any mechanic which lower amenities.
- How amenities are gained.
...

Well, quite a lot of things.
