Brazil - Pedro II Thread

Also, we have our first look at the 3rd building in the entertainment complex, which appears to be a stadium.

The GP system in Civ6 definitely reminds me a lot of the Founding Fathers in Colonization. Everybody gets points and has to decide how to spend them based on what Person they want. The bonuses are not super powerful but they are very good depending on your particular game and play style. Players will definitely have to make choices of which GP they want depending on their strategy.

Good to see Australia get a mention in the continent section.

LUA: Magnanimus - After recruiting or patronizing a Great Person he can recoup 20% of the points it cost.
UTI: Carnival district (replaces entertainment district) - allows carnival city project, which turns production into extra amenities. Additional Great Person points (doesn't specify which type) when project completes.
UU: Minas Geraes - Additional ranged strength and defense (than battleship), unlocks at Nationalism Civic.
UA: Some Districts (holy site, campus, entertainment and commercial) receive standard adjacency bonuses from (implied unimproved) rainforest/jungle.

That moment when Brazil is in the game before Portugal ... T_T (exactly the same when a menu asks me what language I want and portuguese is displayed with a brazilian flag)

On a more serious note, "Minas Gerais" for a war ship ? Seriously Firaxis ? I mean, I'm not an expert on brazilian military history, but for me, Minas Gerais is a state, not a unit ...

Actually it was a series of warships at the beginning of the 1900´s, named Minas Geraes, after the state of Minas Gerais

civ seems pretty interesting. looks like they have images now for research unlocks. relics are a cool addition to the game and i like the variation of GP bonuses

I'm actually kind of glad the Great People aren't as strong. This prevents holding on to Scientists or Engineers to rush techs and production and rather let's us use them quickly. Since one Great Scientist seems to act differently to another, it makes the whole system way more interesting IMO.

Historically, it should replace Battleship. But unlocking with civic is quite puzzling. What if you have tech required for battleships, but not the civic? Will you be able to build regular battleships?

UA: Districts receive major adjacency bonuses from (implied unimproved) rainforest/jungle.

I'm not sure. It's totally possible some improvements like National Parks could preserve rainforests and I don't know whether the bonus will stop in this case.

100 % agree, Civ5's GP system was pretty horrible in this regard. The fact that you'd actually avoid earning Great Merchants because they would slow down your Engineer/Scientist progress was just the epitome of bad game design, and saving scientists (and to lesser extent engineers) was super lame.

The bonuses seem to be proportional to the era of the Great People. The classical era GP have less powerful bonuses than the medieval era GP.

I think (not sure who all of them are) too that the names of the great people seem to some extent to be correlated with the era as well. So no more modern Shakespeare and medieval Steve Jobs?

looks like they have a scroll bar at the bottom, so I would guess artists and perhaps musicians are not visible, but in.

Well at least Great Artists are in the game. At 1:45 we can see that Humanism civic gets an inspiration bonus from earning a great artist.

Also at 1:45 we can see that Brazil religion has a Celtic gross as their religions symbol.
