Strange, when I start it, it gives me none.

You do have BtS ? version 3.17 ? Where did you install it ?

ya i have bts and the version 3.17
i installed it into hdd/programs/firaxis games/civ4 like its usual for the german version of the game , my friend had also errors

Underneath civ4 there is a "Beyond the Sword" dir and underneath that there is Mods, that is where you need to extract the zip.

Did you do that ?

Hm, then it should work. Try using the english language to see if that fixes it (it should not make a difference, all texts should be available in german tags as well - but as english text).

Just a question, how compatable is this with other mods? Could it be possible to merge it with some other one?

This depends mostly on the other mod :)

Generally speaking it should be pretty straightforward, I have no dll or python changes, so there are no restrictions on the other mod there. I do use modular xml, so as long as the other mod is modular, this should make merging easy.

The less overlap there is with the other mod, the easier the merging should get however as this means the less files you have to synchronize.

Thanks for the answer. I wanted to make sure but just could not wait to do it. As my sig sais... Beautifull units.

Mamba

Thanks for all of your great work!

But, I was just playing a great game, on a huge map, with the Better AI 48 civ dll, and about 30 civs left in the game. I was using the previous incarnation of Diversica. I got up to the year 1080 A.D., and then it crashed. Not MAF, something else, but I can't say what for sure, as my Windows is in Japanese and I can't read the error message.

I would send you a copy, but I forget how to do that, as well as what a "copy" is really called.

Also, by the way, on the previous version, the Ethiopian elephants are red blots.

But now you have moved on to 1.20 anyhow, so I suppose all of that is moot.

I guess I will just call that game fun while it lasted, and move on to the 1.20 version--hate to do it though!

Now, I do have one thought on this matter. If the crash was indeed due to the size of the mod, although I am in no way sure that it was, I do have one suggestion, if it would help the issue at all.

I love all of the diverse units in your mod. But if it would help prevent MAFs, or whatever it was that I experienced, what if you offered two versions of the mod: one with all of the new civs and leaders, and one with only the stock civs and leaders? Anyway, I suppose that at a minimum this would help with the MAFs. The cause of what I experienced, I am not so sure.

If you like, I will try to figure out how to send you a copy of my crash, and you can take a look at it--though I suppose, as you have now moved on to a newer version, that you most likely would rather leave it be. Either way, as you like.

Once again, good job, and thanks!

Thanks, glad you like it :)

A copy is a savegame, and in your case the dll you used as well ;)

wil check if this is still true, thanks for the heads up.

EDIT: just checked, they display correctly in 1.20.

Getting rid of the new civs is easy, just delete them from the Assets/Modules/Civilizations and Assets/Modules/UnitArtDefs directories.

I still would like to take a look, only to check if the same cause still is in the current version. I would need the savegame and the dll for that (and I would need to know what version you were playing).

This only makes sense if the crash is repeatable though, i.e. it happens every time on the same turn. If it does not, I assume it was just a random MAF. If it happens every time chances are it is something in the xml.

Does this excellent-looking mod work with Civ Complete? Because I tried to install it into BtS Complete, and it wasn't having any of it. No error messages, it just ignored the mod. I downloaded the regular version and unzipped it in the Mods folder, as per the instructions. Scratching my head now. :(

[EDIT: Woah, there... Looking at my version, I see I have v3.0.0.1. Is that the original BtS? You'd think they'd have updated it for Complete! So I guess I have to patch to 3.17 first, is that right?] [FURTHER EDIT: Yes.]

OK, I've updated to 3.17 successfully, but Diversica still doesn't work. I don't get any error messages but the units are default for all civs.

Can anyone help?

Ok, just got hold of a Civ 4 complete version and installed it. I have no issues with Diversica, the mod loads and the units get displayed, so it is not the fault of the mod.

Now for some potentially obvious questions to narrow the issue down.

You did install the mod in <Civ4>\<BtS>\Mods (by extracting it there) ?

You did actually load the mod (and got the custom loading screen with the tank) ?

The rest of the mod works (i.e. you have civilizations like Israel, Iroquois and Poland available) ?

You have 'animations frozen' in the graphics options NOT checked ?

Actually the mod should not even require 3.17 to work, it just is better to use 3.17 as the files in the mod match the 3.17 changes where necessary, so you would have some minor balancing problems with 3.13 (e.g. as power and asset numbers of some units got changed in 3.17), the mod would still work though.

OK, I'll check the settings (but I think I can give the right answer to all your questions). I do know that Poland, Israel, etc didn't show up in the relevant menu. Will report back shortly.

[EDIT: Let's see...

Installed in <Civ4>\<BtS>\Mods> by extracting it there? Check.

Load mod via menu (Advanced/Load a Mod)? Check.

Custom loading screen... with tank... hold on, no, there's no tank. It loads via the regular BtS loading screen, with the cathedral in the background. Something's gone wrong in the early stages.

How do I uninstall and reinstall? That might be where I should start. If I re-extract (I still have the zip file) will it write over the existing files?]

hm, I assume it says 'Diversica' in the top right corner at least

You should delete the Diversica directory and then unzip the zip-file again, just to make sure.

You do extract right in the Mods dir, right (not in a subdirectory you created) ?

In the mods directory, yes.

It did say 'Diversica' when loading.

I'll delete and re-unzip and report back.

mamba: good news! I deleted and re-unzipped, and now I get the tank, I get the new civs and I get a playable Diversica with the new units and the new resources, etc. There are still a few kinks (eg Francis didn't say anything when I first met him - just blank in that part of the screen), but I imagine these are taken care of in the debug file which I haven't installed yet.

Must have been a flaw in my original unzip. I thought I'd done it properly, but clearly not. [I managed to install VD without any problems, though... oh, well... <shrugs>]

Good, the leaders with no greetings seems to be an issue with my files actually (just checked), will have to fix that.

Thanks for your help, mamba. It looks like a fantastic mod, now that I can use it. I particularly like the extra resources - will bring a new dimension to gameplay.
