[BtS] "Extra"

Will check it out ASAP. (Does it include Add-on 1? I seem to have missed that...)

@JEELEN:
- Siege Towers: Yeah, you're right - to be historically correct, it should. But Siege Towers cost 120 hammers to build and Cannons only 100. I was afraid it would cause bugs or something if a more expensive unit is upgraded into something cheaper. I'll test it.
- Moving the Trireme to Map Making/Cartography would make it appear way too late (about the same time as the Caraval). Instead, I'll just make Cartography a prerequisite for Astronomy :).
- You don't want them able to be irrigated because they're already wet? So no farms on marsh type terrain? But yeah, adding one movement point would be fair :).

OK, cool.;)

As for the Marsh terrain: marsh can't be irrigated (it's too unhealthy), it has to be cleared first (and it should take at least as long as clearing Jungle).

That's a lot.

Forgot to mention: I playtested a 1600 AD for Extra conversion, but got a late-game CTD. I wonder if that happens more often? (I have the Nostalgia and Lords adds-on installed.) Same thing with a 1790 AD for Extra set-up, which crashed when loading.

Alternatively, should I upload the 1600 AD for Extra version to see if anybody can work out what's causing the CTD?

Actually, with the 1790 AD set up I get a MAF error when loading, so that's different I guess.

I tried to download Extra3.17kFULL through Craccoclan but at 50 Mb it said "downlaod finished" and zip file said it was uncomplete...

I retried, but it freezzed at 95 % download :(

Why you dont host your file directly on civfanatics ?

Problem of reliability ?

Downloading now. (Seems to take pretty long. Perhaps you should consider using an official DL Page and DL site.) I've got another "Extra" edition coming up, so I'll see if it works OK.;)

There is a limit on the size of the files that can be uploaded. Unless you can condense down to around ~10 MB, that's just not happening (I think).

Installed the Full install and noticed some weird graphical stuff, i.e. pink buttons for the Victoria and several techs:

I tried to play 3 games this weekend with version 3.17h and the 2 add-ons...

I personally got a CTD every time one of the AIs tried to build an Archery Range. I know this is what caused the CTD, as when I went into Worldbuilder and gave them the Archery Range, I was able to continue playing without the CTD. Then I would build the Tower Of Babel, and the game would crash...Even when I gave it out via Worldbuilder, the game crashed.

I suppose its possible this was just 3.17h, and that this was fixed for 3.17k. From what I could play of your mod, I liked it very much. I hope you can fix the problems.

Edit: Also, at least where I live, the craccoclan download is simply impossible...I took me close to an hour to download 20% of the Core version...So I gave up.

Great mod!! :D

Testing Extra 3.17k full...

Had two "odd" events.

Played as Juhah with many other civs. Persia and Judah had, what appeared to be, very similar colors. It was hard to tell where my border stopped and where Persia began. I figured it was just me. But then, Persia declared war on me and got Celtia to join in (helping the Persians). Celtia came up to the border between Persia and Judah. Stayed on the Persian side and pillaged. It gave me those red messages that I had lost a farm or town, but they were on Persia's side! I wonder if the computer is having trouble with those colors. Might have a look to see - just in case.

Same game ... only this time the Romans thought they'd be cute and build some Raiders. When the first raider crossed my border and captured a worker, I got a CTD due to "Bad Allocation." My guess is there's something messed up with Raiders.

Anyway, I love this mod. I hope those descriptions help you track down bugs. Great work! :D

Update:

I went back yesterday and tried out version 3.17h and the two add-ons...When I played with low graphics, the CTDs stopped for the custom buildings.

3.17 k full

Had the same color problem with Russian and Austria. Russia had open borders with me and Austria did not. When my ship approached the continuous red line, there was trouble. If I approached on the left side (Russia), I could enter. If I approached on the right side (Austria) I was given a warning that this action would start a war (since I had no open borders with them). But between them, there was no visible division. Just one continuous red area (as if they were the same nation).

Unless you memorized the names of the cities and knew from memory which city was Russian and which city was Austrian, there was no way to tell just by looking. :crazyeye:

Hello from Greece and a hearty well done for your amazing mod!
I just butted in to confirm the same colour issue, again with Judea and Persia. Playing as Judea, i had a common border with Persia for most of the game and had no way of telling were our cultural borders met, except when due to past wars open borders were canceled. When i finally attacked and destroyed them though (or when i crossed into their territory earlier on) i had no CTD issues.
For clarity reasons, though, the issue should be handled. The world map was a giant blue blob near the end :)

Another colour problem - Phoenicians and Romans. Impossible to tell which was which, no colour border separation. it meant I had to destroy the Romans first instead of the Saudis just to get rid of it....

I just built "Babel Tower" and... and... and... i perfectly worked :goodjob:

I have Vista 64 Bits, Civ4 Vanilla + Civ4 BTS and 3.17 patched...

So, its strange that somebody have problem and one other hasn't....

I love Chiyu's Extra

EDIT : crashed for unknown reasons, i speaked too fast, sorry...

I played it with smartmap.py, which is effectively very nice because all ressources...
