[BtS MOD] Wolfshanze 1850-1920 Enhancement Mod v2.0

I'm waiting for you to get done and stable for me to re-install. Hard to save some HD space.
The Wolfshanze Mod is VERY, VERY stable right now... probably more now then ever... it's setup for v3.13 of BtS.

I plan on doing a v3.17 version sometime in the not-too-distant future, but I don't have a planned date right now.

If you have BtS v3.13, the current Wolfshanze Mod is perfectly set for it. Not sure when I'll do a v3.17 version.

Hard to get 3.13 on re-install though, taht's why. I've got other stuff to occupy me now short-term anyways.

I finally broke down and played that Afterworld mod or whatever it's called. Was a nice break. Reminded me of Starcraft. A little buggy though.

How hard is it to install Civ4, BtS, then use the v3.13 of BtS patch?

I forget, does the Wolfshanze mod use any custom DLL changes beyond 18+ civs? Such as DCM? Because if not then you should have an easier time updating. :)

Sorry if someone has already asked this but I have downloaded your mod v. 2.73 and installed it in the proper directory and have installed the BTS patch v. 3.17. I can start up the game and load the mod, but when I go to start a map (any map) after I have chosen a civ and the map specifics, including scenario maps like the ones that came with the mod it CTD.
I've tried many different things with variations of map sizes and other civs and such but always the same outcome.
Now I can play the regular game (BTS) but just not this mod.
Thanks for any help

There is a custom CivGameCoreDLL.DLL file with the Wolfshanze Mod... but it mostly just includes Bhruic's stuff, 40-civ support and the Nuclear Fallout changes... my mod IS playable under v3.17 without the custom DLL, so yes... my update to v3.17 shouldn't be too hard.

Speaking of which...

The Wolfshanze Mod was made especially for v3.13 of BtS, and includes a v3.13-specific custom Gamecore DLL file.

Since v3.17 was very recently released, the Wolfshanze Mod has not yet been "officially" updated to support v3.17, but will soon... and it "unofficially" supports v3.17 right now... but to make it work you need to do one thing...

Go into the Wolfshanze Mod "Assets" folder and remove/delete the "CivGameCoreDLL.DLL" file. This will make the mod compatible with v3.17... the only difference is that you will not be able to play the included earth maps/scenarios or have support for more then 18 civs in a single game (which is the same as default BtS).

Soon, I will update the mod to v3.17 with support for 40 civs in a scenario, but for now you can enjoy the mod fully on v3.13 or with 18-civ support in v3.17.

It's from the Air Forces mod, which is version 3.03.
Xeno, I'm probably going to ask for Solver's patch (his most current version at the time of request) for BtS v3.17, plus 40-civ support, nuclear fallout option and that "intercept recon" code. I think that would be enough for the next official Wolfshanze Mod release.

Still kinda waiting to see when/if Solver stops putting out a new daily patch... no point trying to base a new gamecore DLL off of his until he slows down from his daily new versions.

Hello.

I am really enjoying your mod, but I am finding that early in the game all wonder movies - your new movies as well as the golden oldies - are not playing properly. The frame will come up, the sound is fine but the picture is a static shot of a mess of colours (like flipping to a TV channel that is not tuned). The first one or two movies will play fine, but then the problems develops.

I've looked through this thread and can't see that anyone else has had the same problems. Would you have any idea why this is happening, Mr Wolfshanze?

I am playing the game on a fairly old ASUS laptop. I can't remember the memory capabilities and/or graphics card type at the mo. I know that I can't play with all the VFX enabled in the game, but i have never had any probs with wonder movies. I have installed the latest patch and Bhuric's patch.

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

I think that could be your problem. The fairly old ASUS laptop. To experience BTS Wolfshanze as it should be you need a fairly modern computer. I have no problems with the mod with my fairly recent desktop.

Laptops tend to have trouble with CIV, period. Regardless of mods.

The problems tend to be low RAM and built-in graphics (and built-in graphics tend to be low end).

Concur with Healz and Wodan... the reason is almost certainly your laptop. It would also not be uncommon for you to be able to play the default BtS with fewer graphical issues then the Wolfshanze Mod... while the Wolfshanze Mod certainly does not require the most powerful computer buildable in 2008, it IS more resource-hungry then default Civ4 BtS, simply because there's more unique models and units in the game which will eat-up more system resources then seeing the same model over and over again as-in default BtS. I am running BtS on a desktop system that I built in 2005... it was fairly high-end in 2005, but it is three years old now (and we know how the computer industry is), and even for a three year old computer, it runs the Wolfshanze Mod pretty smooth... but I couldn't imagine trying to run this mod on an old laptop.

Sorry to say, but I'm sure it's the laptop, not the mod.

One thing you could try 4thDr is to drop down in map size and # of civs. That could leave free enough resources to resolve your other issues.

What would be the advised amount of memory to play fourty civs? Sure, my laptop has a gig-and-a-half, but it's got Vista too (I HATE VISTA!!!!!)

Oh, and I can't zoom in or out with the mouse wheel. I can in unmodded BtS, but not in the Wolfshanze mod. Any advice?

I haven't exactly tested the mod out on multiple machines... all I can say is what I have:

3.0GHz Pentium-4 (single-core CPU)
1GB DDRAM (System memory)
GeForce 6800GT [AGP] w/256MB memory (Graphics Card)
WindowsXP Pro Corporate w/SP2

That's the baseline system the Wolfshanze Mod is built and tested on... I've played the included 35-civ earth map successfully with the above setup... your mileage may vary.

As for the mouse wheel? Dunno... my mod has nothing to do with changing the mouse or interface setup at all, and none of the files in my mod relate to the mouse or main menu features. My mousewheel zooms in and out just fine with the Wolfshanze Mod... dunno what to tell you on that.

Well I had a marked increase in performance when I went from 1gb to 4gb. On XP even.

Mouse: see if you have the latest driver. If you upgraded directx and not your mouse driver, that could be it.

I'd love to upgrade my memory, but I'm in a bit of a financial bind right now... :(

What's the rest of your specs Wodan? How nice was the jump in memory? Smoother scrolling on big maps and/or faster load times?

Thank you Wolfshanze for all the help, it worked, and for this great mod.
Keep up the great work:goodjob:

Faster load and turn times, mostly, but yes better scrolling. Let's see, I have only an 80gb drive running my OS and normal apps, but I've got 1.5tb on external. Processor is a dual 2.8ghz. Running XP. 4Gb RAM. That tell you what you wanted to know?

A bigger issue to me than the faster processing (though that's nice, don't get me wrong) is the total lack of CTDs now. I get one maybe once or twice a month.
