[BtS MOD] Wolfshanze 1850-1920 Enhancement Mod v2.0

Wolfshanze, Perfect World freezes my Civ. I'm using Vista so maybe that's why... Anyway, just thought I'd let you know.
I can't test/diagnose your problem, because I stay far away from Vista... there are several known issues (and probably some more unknown issues) associated with Vista and Civ4.

I use WinXP and haven't had any issues using Perfect World. Dunno what to tell you on that one... :dunno:

Well, in my game loading a map using Perfect World takes a looooooong time, and loading saved games from said maps is rather hit-and-miss.
Maps made in perfect world do take a long time to create... not had any problems bringing-back saves though.

I tend to use SevenSpirits "New World" map script... also included in the Wolfshanze Mod.
 
Yeah about the heavy footman. I cant remember which nation it was. But it just showed model with totally pink skin. It could be my videocard on the comp thought.

After you mentioned having a problem with the heavy footman, I loaded-up the 34-civ earth scenario in world builder... I then placed all 34 heavy footmen on the board... didn't see a problem with any civ on my end.

What civ were you playing, because it might help if I didn't have to check all 34 civs when someone says they're having a graphic problem! ;)

BTW: Loading an earlier game and then it will continue for around 50 turns or so but then I have found another CTD :(

Morgan UK, Propunk... I know you've both attached savegame files and I'll check them when I can spare the time, but for now, details of who you're playing as (what Civ), repeatable problem (always crashes at same point, or random crashes), did it seem to be caused by a specific unit (clicking or building a specific unit type or from a certain civ), what system you're running it on (computer specs, Operating System), etc can help me narrow it down and possibly solve the problem.

Normally, I'd check the save games (but even then it doesn't tell me everything I'm asking), but I've been very busy today on a super-secret project.
 
I have only played as Germany, three times now. Each time at random points it will CTD. As yet, due to the random nature, I can't suggest that it is related to any particular event or specific to any time period.

I have played vanilla BTS with zero CTD's and also I have played several games of Varietas Delectat v3.6, and lost them all, as usual, without any problem.

As you are aware there is a PythonErr2 log that is generated but I'm not sure if that would help you..?

I can't see my PC or the OS having any influence due to the stability of the above noted games that I have played but it is as follows....

Vista 64
4GB RAM
NVidia 8800
Intel E2180 @ 3.2

If I notice anything which seems common to the CTD's I will let you know.
 
Vista's your problem, not Wolf's mod... I don't think his mod CAN cause any Python errors? Maybe a faulty map script?
 
Not sure why you feel the need to condemn Vista...?

Just to add, when I boot to XP it is possible to still get a CTD, just like in the saved game that I have sent to you Wolfshanze.

The PythonErr2 log that I am referring to might or might not be relevant, it is stored in the logs folder of My Games\BTS\Logs\
 
Plenty of people have problems with Vista and CIV, that's why. But if it also crashes under XP, then that's another issue.

You know if it was a specific tech, or a group of techs (say, about to discover your first tech in the industrial era?).

Some of the earlier v2.6x versions of the Wolfshanze mod always CTD'd when entering the Industrial era for Germany... that was fixed in a recent version.

Are you playing with the current version?
 
I have been following this thread because I really like the mod, lots of good ideas. So today I decided to register to help you solve the recent problems with this mod. :)

I will add my experiences and conclusions.

First of all, important hardware specifications.

Core 2 quad on a X38 gigabyte mainboard
8800GT using the latest drivers in both Vista(64) and XP(32).
Sound blaster XFI
6 GB of ram

I dont think the rest really matters but I can supply any information that is needed. I have been playing an older version of this mod for some time, I believe it was 2.20 or something and it worked without any problems. I usually play under Vista but when I tried the latest version (2.68) I then started experiencing the very same problems as some have mentioned here (CTD).

I played two games so far (both are available if needed)

In my first game I played as Lincoln leading the americans on the world map with 34 civs. The crashes come around 1000 AD and then become more regular. I can usually load a previous round and continue for a while but I find that the interval between the crashes become more frequent the longer I play. When I tried to invade south america around 1900AD then the game would crash and if I tried loading the same game it would still crash when trying to process the turn. I tried loading a few times but im fairly certain it wont let me continue. I also found that if I try to open the worldbuilder on the round before the crash then the game would also crash.

I then switched to playing under XP, I started a fresh game using the same settings as before, this time the same kind of crashes starts occuring around 1800 AD.

The game will always crash when it is processing the turn, I tried changing various settings to no avail and my brother also told me that this mod version kept crashing on him (while 2.2x worked fine).

I also tried changing various things in the game, such as signing a peace treaty with the people that im currently fighting but that doesnt seem to do anything. :D

I am using both the latest official and unoffical patch, however I only tried the unofficial patch to see if it would solve the problem which it didnt.

I hope this gives you some insight :confused:

'sup I've been out for awhile. Crisis Core came out on PSP. But Civ 4 always draws me back.

Anyways, I've made some minor XML changes to my copy of your mod, really minor.
I think it was that (regular) Subs were always hostile, Heavy Cruisers, protected cruisers and Ironclad cruisers could all carry 1 unit. (For two reasons; once I had made subs always hostile I could never move spies and missionaries with them, and two to make the cruisers even more useful since the lose to the capital ships of that era and can't see subs). Also I made it so destroyer escorts only upgraded to sealth destroyers so you had more time with them and had 1 extra movement range. And of course I made Artillery lethal again. All in all it makes for rather good game play since the A.I.'s seem to use most of it, except the cruisers as transports part, i can't tell if they're moving anything. I think I only tweaked naval combat parts of it, specifically units.

I'm not asking for anything about changing your mod I just thought I could throw some ideas out.

incidently, what version of your mod are you on? I think I'm only on v2.65 or 2.64.

P.S. great game just ended, full length regular conteints map, japanese. Monopolized Iron, conquered Mansa Musa, Brennus, Ragnar, and Justinian before renissance age. end with conquest victory after defeating Monty, Lizzy and Cleo. sad part- didn't get flight yet.
