[BtS MOD] Wolfshanze 1850-1920 Enhancement Mod v2.0

Wolf,

I made a few "adjustments" to some of the units in your mod V2.81---made some of them UU's. Will the updated DLL change any of that?

I'm in the middle of a game with 36 civs. Will the update make the new 4 available in the saved game?

I look forward to any changes you might make in the future, keep up the great work and remember that there are many, including myself, who appreciate it.

Johnny

Just want you to know I really love this mod. The detail is amazing and the extra civs and leaders are great.

Played multiplayer hotseat several times with my partner on the 36 civ world map as a team and we love it - though sometimes the graphics can be a problem even with a newish PC.
Thanks guys for the kind words... as a quick note, the new gamecore will only improve the game, and the new gamecore is fully save-game compatible with previous v2.8x versions... should not mess with anything in your current ongoing games (other then fix a couple of AI and animation bugs concerning airpower). If you're worried, you can always back-up the older gamecore first, though I'm confident the new gamecore is compatible (you may still want to back up the old one though just to be safe... not 100% sure if multiplayer requirements are different then single player, though I see no reason why it wouldn't work... I have tested the new gamecore with v2.81 single-player saves and have had no problems)... note if you're in a multi-player game, everyone should be using the same gamecore!

Having said that, I have just "officially" released a new version, mostly to include the new gamecore in the main download, but also adds a few new things... note v2.82 is also fully backwards-compatible with v2.81 saves as well (as far as I've tested).

Available for download now... Wolfshanze Mod v2.82...
as usual, see page-1 for the new download

Continuing to strive for total stability, v2.80 took a small step back from v2.73 on that front... the switch to support of v3.17 of BtS kind-of made something like that inevitable. Anyways, I've squashed a few minor bugs in v2.81 and now a couple of major bugs in v2.82... still no CTD problems found as of yet (thankfully). The main reason for the release of 2.82 this soon was to squash the recently discovered air combat bugs, which effects late-era gameplay quite a bit, and I wanted that squashed officially and in the main download.

For those that may be unaware, the air combat bug involved two things... AI use and intercept combat animations... you could attack the AI all you want with airpower with no problems, and the AI could bomb you with no problems (so long as he had the tech-lead on you in flight) but if you had any of your own fighters on intercept patrol, the AI would never launch a bombing attack on you... furthermore, all intercept combat animations were broke... if a fighter intercepted a plane, the combat animation would not show (though the results would be tallied and you'd get a text message). Both of these bugs were squashed with the release of a new gamecore a few days ago, and that new gamecore is now officially in the full download of this version.

Like I said, the main reason for this update was to include the new gamecore in the full download... though I did toss-in a few new skins/models with this mod. One little-mentioned thing that got added with the new gamecore was the BtS Better AI Mod v0.35 which bumps-up the intelligence of the AI in a few ways (no cheats, just better 'human-like' gameplay). The new models list is a little shorter then normal due to the reason I released this for the gamecore fix, but there's still some good stuff there that has been added as can be seen below. The gamecore in this new release is the same as the one released a few days ago on the forum, so if you've already updated your gamecore and the new models below don't interest you for any reason, there's certainly no obligation for you to download this newer version if you're averse to a big download. Also, the new gamecore is still available for download seperately on the first page for anyone who just wants the new gamecore.

...If you're playing a v2.80 or v2.81 Wolfshanze Mod save, you're in luck... v2.82 is fully backwards compatible with v2.8x saves... if you're playing a previous version to 2.8x... well, then you're out of luck! You'll just have to start a new game!

Enjoy folks!

Greeting Wolf,

We discovered the Multi play problem, I adjusted the script to get the cultural Ethiopian and Mali units to show but my nephew changed the wrong line and then copied it on to his sisters system.

Once we fixed that we were ok.

Does update to ethnic city styles fix the above problem?

The ethnic citystyles effects only cities... african cities were showing correctly from the get-go.

The unit art for the Mali and Ethiopians was a separate issue, which was corrected in v2.82, though I forgot to put it in the change-log (I knew I forgot to write something in there!).

So the Mali and Ethiopian unit art is corrected in v2.82... I just forgot to put it in the change-log, sorry! Thanks for the reminder though... I'll update the change logs to show it was corrected.

Glad you figured out the problem... EVERY file needs to match in all computers for head to head play!

Hello Wolfshanze,
i´ve got a problem with your mod. When i´m loading it no menu is shown.

Can you be a little more specific? The mod is working for a lot of people (self included), so these kinds of errors are usually something that went wrong on the user end... but for me to be able to help, I need more info...

What version of the Wolfshanze Mod are you using (current is v2.82)
What version of Civ4 are you using (BtS v3.17 is required for the current Wolfshanze Mod)
How did you install it... (did you have previous versions, or is this your first install, did you unzip with the file-structure intact?)
How did you load it... (do you see "Wolfshanze" in the top-right of the main menu)
What are your system specs... (OS, CPU, System Memory, Graphics Card, etc)
Are you running any other mods, modifications or custom assets with Civ4?
Be as specific as you can with the problem(s) itself (when, where, how, screen-appearance, etc).

The more you tell me, the more likely I will be able to help.

i tried to use v2.82 with BtS v3.17.
I have had a previous version from your brilliant mod (i liked it really), that works relatively fine (it have had the tendency to crash how more game proceeds and how more the graphics diversee). I removed older versions bevor installing v2.82. When now loading v2.82 i don´t see "Wolfshanze" (i cant see any text).
I use - so i am german - german civ versions but selected english language by options.

Wolf, i've got major load problems as well...

in previous versions (such as 2.5), the game actually ran pretty well, until later in the game, usually just before i started to cash in on the cool industrial age units, i would start getting constant CTD's until it was too frustrating to continue (usually "custom game", huge map, terra or archipelago, or continents, with about 12-13 civs). i also noticed that at some point during all those games i would lose the tech tree. i could still choose the next tech to research but the research tree itself was blank.

anyway i decided to try and start new games with 2.80, 2.81, and now 2.82, because now that i've played your mod, i just can't seem to enjoy vanilla BTS anymore! but in the case of your newer versions, currently 2.82, i can't even successfully launch a custom game. once i choose the game parameters, number of civs, etc., and launch the game, the following happens:

first it says "initializing", then "initialize graphics", and then just when i think it's going to successfully launch, i get a nasty CTD, sometimes forcing a complete reboot of the OS. some of the details of the CTD, include: modname msvcr71.dll, modver 7.10.3052.4, offret 00002eee, etc.

i would take a screenshot of it, but i forgot the keyboard command to take a screenshot of just the dialog box, otherwise I would post it, but right now it would be too small to make out.

the install procedure i follow is: i delete the folder wolfshanze from the mods folder. i unzip the 300+ mb 2.82 zip file into BTS/mods. once i launch BTS, i go to advanced and choose the Woflshanze mod. once that launches i setup the game (wolfshanze appears in the upper right corner, but not the version number). then i launch the game, and it crashes.

system specs are average: XP Pro, Intel Pent 4 3.0 proc, 2 GB RAM, GeForce 7600 GT.

Vanilla BTS (3.17) runs great, very stable, so that's not the issue.

any help would be great, i would dearly love to launch this mod!

also, i've noticed that the Austrians, and the Vietnamese, are not menu options when choosing a civ, but Hitler and Hirohito are there as leader options.

:wallbash:

Okay... well, let me check a few things out...

1st... the mod works... it does on this end anyways... I suppose it's possible either you have a bad download, or perhaps the download itself is corrupted in some way...

I need to ask...

Has anybody successfully run v2.82 since it's been uploaded?

v2.82 is running fine on this end, but maybe the download is corrupted.

In any case, there were several versions of the Wolfshanze Mod that had known CTD issues late-game... they were all identified, removed and fixed in v2.73 of the Wolfshanze Mod... the most well-known stable version of the mod... v2.73 was the final release of the Wolfshanze Mod for v3.13 of BtS. If for any reason you want to play the last fully-stable version, you'd need to have BtS v3.13 and use v2.73 of the Wolfshanze Mod... it can still be downloaded Here.

I have been ironing-out issues with v3.17 of BtS since it came out with the v2.8x series of the Wolfshanze Mod... to my knowledge v2.82 is perfectly stable and has addressed all issues. I'll have to check if there is some sort of corruption with the download, but it should run smooth... it should definitely start and show all civs/leaders.

If you're really chomping at the bits, v2.81 can still be downloaded Here. You could try it, just make sure you use the current v3.17 gamecore (listed in the 1st post)... v2.81 should be good as long as you use the current gamecore.

In the meantime, I'll try and double-check that the current download is intact... but it should be a stable version. Once again... has anyone successfully used v2.82? I need to know if this is a problem with everyone, or just a localized one.

I did upload v2.82 in my sleep (literally)... so maybe something went wrong with the upload... but the base files on this end are all running very well and smooth.

I Just downloaded the new version for the first time and it does not work.

I open up the mod and it is just like a regular bts game. Same music, menu.
There is no polond.

I might of installed it wrong. I do not know.

PSob... do you have all the options you should have in the main menu? Poland, Austria, Vietnam and the extra leaders like Hitler for Germany?

I need to determine if the problem is on the user-end or with the download itself.

just loaded your mod again to check. in civopedia i see added units, ie early fighters, early bombers, boomer sub etc
in custom game screen see Poland, Austria, Vietnam and do see hitler as a leader

maybe some of the folks having trouble loading your mod have it double foldered in the mod directory, or don't have BTS 3.17 ?

Okay, well the download is fine then. Something weird going on at the user's end then.

For foreign use, it should be set in English... I don't have full foreign language supported in the mod... not sure if that would cause any problems, but really... as long as the download is fine (which it apparently is), getting it to start should be the least of anyone's worries.

Greetings and salutations Wolfshanze,

I too am having the problem Malima is having, a blank start menu. Wolfshanze 2.73 worked well, I updated to BTS 3.17, removed 2.73 and unpacked Wolfshanze 2.81 and the gamecore in the BTS Mod folder. I went to play a game and was greeted with a BTS menu screen without any options. I then removed version 2.81 and installed version 2.82, the same thing happened with no options on the menu screen (see screenshot). I have removed and reinstalled version 2.82 four times with the same result but have yet to so with BTS.

I have the FFH2, Warhammer, Planetfall and Star Trek mods as well as yours.

Computer AMD XP 1.54GHz, 512MB RAM.

Any help would be appreciated.

Felicitous valedictions.

I downloaded the mod into bts mods folder, then extracted it there. Next, I ran bts, clicked on load a mod, Wolfshanze, and loaded it. After it loaded, and like I said, its the same as in a regular bts game.

I do not download much mods, I could of installed it wrong.

I keep trying, but I can't duplicate the error on my end.

For those that are seeing "blank screens", please double-check the Wolfshanze Mod folder... was it unpacked with the subfolders intact? Do you see an "Assets" and "PrivateMaps" folder in the Wolfshanze Mod folder for instance?

Here's another thought... maybe by bypassing the "Load Mod" screen you can see if it will work... this is the instructions to load the Wolfshanze Mod by default... by "Unloading Mod" or by reversing this procedure, you can always go back to default BtS... but since this bypasses the manual load a mod method, it might be worth a shot...

Spoiler :
In My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword, open CivilizationIV.ini and where it says:

Quote:
; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none
Mod = 0
Change it to:

Quote:
; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none
Mod = Mods\Wolfshanze

Sorry no solution
i tried your bypassing method and the same problem. By clicking on the empty screen(only background graphic) where the text normaly should appear i was able to start a game - i suppose it was a scenario on an earth map. It loaded well but also in the game i couldn´t see any text/sub-menus (no shown icons for mainmenu, civilopedia, no menu for unitsabilities ...)
My download seems to be intact with all subfolders.

I am still having the same problem as Malima. I removed the mod completely, downloaded and re-installed it. I checked and do have the assets and private map folders. Wolfshanze does appear in upper right hand corner when I open it.
I even tried using the core.dll patch.

I use other mods with no problem: FFH2, HIm2, RoM

WinXP, 2 GB RAM, 1.85 gigahertz Intel Core Duo,ATI Mobility Radeon X1400

Regular CIV + Warlords + BTS, all with the latest patches
