I am in. I should get the game prior to August 1. I dont check OT often so I would appreciate a heads up when you figure out what type of game your setting up. I clicked the single game but i would also be interested in a tourny.
Wheeeeeeee, i clicked and voted etc, i havent pre ordered or anything as i have no money but im sure ill be able to scrounge some up. I like things either way but i do like the idea of no tech trading as it makes diplomacy So much easier!
What's the point of MP without diplomacy! Its like the modern era without nukes!!!
(damn you Sparta, banning nukes in the Warlords game)
I never said it cancelled diplomacy i just said i made it easier and primarily because some people have lives and they dont have the time to spend the amount of time needed to conduct a heavy diplo game (or they have far too many games and so can't be arsed doing it).
If you want diplo get involved in the mtdg's/isdg's is the way i look at it.
My thinking is that no tech trading (or even moreso, always-war) doesn't remove diplomacy, it just makes out-alliancing much tougher. In the first two CivIVor games (and in other tech-trading-games I've been in), solid alliances proves more powerful than anything else because a larger alliance can out-research everyone else. At least without tech trading enabled, alliances can still happen and be powerful, but they don't necessarily cruise to victory.
Still doesnt take away the improtance of making an alliance of sorts though.
I'd be interested, but I've never done pitboss b4.
@ntt:Why would people tech trade in multiplayer? I've never seen it except when people are cheap and gift someone who is losing badly in a war to suddenly get an advantage with new techs
Tech trading with an alie can allow two seperate paths of the tree to be explored at the same time. Say your land locked but your buddy isn't. He could focus on sea tech while you focus on something else.
Heh. The only reason why I've survived most of the pitboss games I've been in. Aside for "the new sheriff's in town" game.My thinking is that no tech trading (or even moreso, always-war) doesn't remove diplomacy, it just makes out-alliancing much tougher. In the first two CivIVor games (and in other tech-trading-games I've been in), solid alliances proves more powerful than anything else because a larger alliance can out-research everyone else. I guess pitboss just allows more time for diplomacy. In the live games in the gamespy lobby it pretty much boils down to all war, so usually every game has tech trade turned of to prevent exploitation.
I am opposed to a team game! I like going it aloneCan I state a preference for 3-man teams?
edit: I like how that reads.![]()
